Never got to stay here, but sharing my experience of last minute cancelation by owner, double-booking on VRBO, and delayed refunds for stays I never did. Very poor communication from owner.
February 2, 2023. Paid deposit and received confirmation of booking in Kent, CT for July 19 - 23, 2023.
Thursday, June 22, 2023. Owner Bruce Carrol notified me that they had to cancel my stay, citing "Natural Disaster" as the reason code, but acknowledging in a message they had two family funerals that month. I expressed condolences, and started looking elsewhere.
With less than 30 days to go before our own family's gathering, (3 households from three different states gathering in New England), I scrambled to find different lodging. Luckily, after searching through options on VRBO for an hour, I found a new listing that met our needs. Paid my deposit and received confirmation. Several hours later, received a message from Bruce Carrol that this listing was not available. Come to find out, that's because it is the SAME OWNER. SAME PROPERTY for SAME DATES still active on VRBO.
Fast forward to July 19th. Family is now gathered at a totally different rental in another town I was finally able to get at last minute. Received VRBO alerts message asking if I'm "ready for my stay in Kent." What?
July 19, Credit card is charged AGAIN for the final amount at Kent property. Owner finally cancels my stay in VRBO system, but credit card refund won't arrive until the next credit card cycle.

We had a wonderful stay at this beautiful home just outside of Kent, CT. It's a beautiful spot at the end of a quiet and secluded block. Location is great, 10 minutes to town (and also close to everything in Litchfield County). The owner was helpful with a couple things that came up. We would definitely stay again. Thanks so much!

We had a wonderful stay in these amazing home packed with every amenity possible. Bruce and Jennie were great at communicating with us and making sure our stay was perfect. The home was absolutely spotless. They are incredibly gracious hosts. The pictures do not capture all of the charm and thoughtful décor. It is quite spacious and modern. The home is private but also close to everything you need. We enjoyed skiing on Mohawk Mountain, which is a short drive away, and enjoying family time by the fire. We did not want to leave. We highly recommend this property.

Beautiful home and landscape. Kitchen was amazing in the completeness of equipment and supplies. Very quiet and peaceful . Owners obviously put time and effort into even the smallest of details.

Amazing property
We travelled to Kent for a family wedding. This house was perfect. The facilities were amazing especially for us that had travelled so far. The communication from the host was very good. Would love to come back again!

Wonderful stay!!!
Beautiful, secluded, modern and comfortable house and grounds (photos don't do it justice). Impeccably clean. Fully equipped with everything you could want; kitchen well stocked. Beautifully landscaped lawn and flowers surrounded by trees and woods, offering privacy and tranquility. Enjoyed front porch and wrap-around back deck. Owners are lovely, and ideal hosts: made us feel very much at home, and always available by text or email. Hope to return soon. Village of Kent charming.

We loved everything about the house! We had many beautiful mornings on the back deck overlooking the forest. We took walks down the quiet, shady lane. We played pool in the basement, cooked many meals in the spotless kitchen, and had easy access to the surrounding towns in the area. We visit here every summer and this house was excellent for us. Thank you!

Really Great
We loved everything about the house! We had many beautiful mornings on the back deck overlooking the forest. We took walks down the quiet, shady lane. The only things I would add to the listing would be that the cell service is very spotty in the area, so be sure to print out your directions ahead of time. The owners allow the use of the landline phone and have great WiFi internet service. The surrounding area is very picturesque and the owners had good information about local restaurants and services. I would definitely recommend the home to anyone traveling to the Litchfield Hills and wanting a pet-friendly, private location.

Great place to stay!!
Photos don’t do justice to this place. We arrived to a super clean, comfortable home with everything we needed. Plenty of space for the 7 of us. Kitchen was well stocked. Plenty of sheets and towels. Owners were very helpful and communicative. We’d love to stay there again if they’d have us.
