Lovely old cottage in a nice peaceful location away from the bustle of the city centre. Well equipped kitchen and nice personal touches around the flat make it cosy.

We only stayed one night (as planned) but there was no hot water for a shower in the morning - it was lukewarm at best. We also found a forgotten mug of coffee which was a bit of a surprise - but apart from that everything was clean. The smell of damp in the entrance is quite strong but it doesn’t affect the living quarters upstairs.

Good location and free parking.

The sheets on the bed had wet patches and mattress topper was dirty. Also had a damp smell and the fridge and sink in the kitchen were not clean.

Sweet upstairs flat in a row of cottages. 25 minute pleasant walk from the centre of Durham, with an alternative slightly longer walk through a wooded local nature reserve. Easy parking in front of the property. There was everything we needed for simple self-catering in the kitchen. I really appreciated the coffee maker. Pleasant and characterful decor. The host kindly offered a blow-up bed, which meant my teenage daughter and I didn't have to share the double bed.

It wasn't a problem for us at all, but I wouldn't recommend the property for anyone with any degree of reduced mobility; the stairs up to the flat are extremely steep and narrow, with shallow painted wooden treads. To help with this, there is a rope hand rail and, in addition on one section, a wooden handrail.

I loved the bath, cooking and washing facilities were good. It was a quiet spot

Just one slight thing, it was a bit of a challenge to have a shower, the hose sprayed everywhere Coming to the UK with jetlag, darker curtains in the room would have helped and maybe a table and chairs outside to enjoy the evening sun. That said it was a delightful stay.

Our fault that we didn't notice no TV on the listing.

Nice and simple to access. Parking in the driveway. Great location. Everything working well and well furnished.

No blinders in the bedroom. I woke up at 6am with the sun ...

Tastefully decorated, very clean and comfortable.

It is described as a cottage but all habitable areas are on the first floor accessed by a very steep flight of stairs comprising of 17 steps and requiring grab rails both sides to navigate safely. Totally inappropriate for those with any degree of impaired mobility. My partner has heart failure and I have arthritis in my feet. We struggled! My large but spritely dog chose not to use the stairs at all and so spent the night in the reception hall away from his people...no amount of tempting with treats was gonna get him up those stairs! To complicate matters further we found issues with the wall fixings holding the rope rail to the wall, ie they were coming away. Frightening considering a safe assent/dessent required that we used them☹️ I discussed all these matters with the host and I hope that the property will be relisted more realistically to attract appropriate customers. I'm sure the rope bannister will be addressed asap as this is a health and safety issue. Might be an idea to mention that it is on a very busy main road, though set back along a drive way.

Beautiful beautiful art, beautiful full equipped kitchen, very quite, so much storage!! A wonderful charming taste of design, a lot of light a lot of space, a unique feeling of like it's your own home. Very comfortable to work with the computer, many places to read. Not far from supermarkets :) Valentina the host was just amazing. Answered all our questions, assisted with everything, was patience and very responsive.

The building is very old plus the heating, so it has it's charm and it's disadvantages. In addition, it feels like someone has been living there for a while so it's very homely and vested with photography and art, but also you can tell the place was used a lot in the past and few dirts here and there. Yet it's COVID Times, so I know it is not easy to make everything super fine like in a hotel in June. It doesn't spoil the overall experience and the wonderful amazing host Valentina! :)
