This is a review of my stay at Cottage on the Current. This was the second time I have stayed at Cottage on the Current with family members. Both stays were very pleasant. There were minor issues, like having to clean the dishes and silverware before using, because the dishwasher was not the greatest, and of course the mosquitos and flies, ( no fault of owner ) . The bed that my daughter was sleeping on collapsed. In the kitchen area, there are 3 high sitting chairs at the counter. While my grandson was sitting on one, screws fell out. This happened again with another one of the chairs. I picked up the screws and set them on the counter as I figured this would be handled by the cleaning and maintenance crew, in preparation for the next guest. The reason I will not stay here again is not even in the fact that I had to pay for a cleaning violation. Upon inquiring as to the violations, I was sent this list: Dirty dishes Trash not taken out of bathroom Dirty laundry not put in laundry room Dog feces left throughout property Trash can missing Tray missing Fire pit moved and grass dead underneath fire pit This is not to mention the queen bed broken non repairable in the basement. Barstools dismantled. I had no problem paying the the $100 cleaning violation, as after I received this list, I realize that I had not turned on the dishwasher prior to leaving, and also forgot to move fire pit back to original spot. The cottage is beautiful. Plenty of room for our family vacation. We brought 2 kayaks as well as rented 2 from the property owner to float down the Current River. The home is very close to the river and also includes a playground for the children. A perfect getaway for a family vacation.

Everything about this rental was perfection :) we had such an amazing family float trip and enjoyed the stay with family ranging In ages 01 - 82. The listing doesn’t do justice to the property - and the owner is super kind, informed and helpful!! We’ll be back next year!

The home was beautiful! So much detail was put into the house. There were so many beds available, so it was perfect for our large group. The kids enjoyed the basement. The whole family enjoyed the outside space. We had fun floating up and down the river.

Peaceful and lovely. We loved the seclusion.

This property has very spacious bedrooms with beautiful decor, plenty of outdoor visiting areas. Plenty of parking space and access to the river is great. Downsides are the unwelcome feel we had as soon as we walked in. The list of house rules including “no shoes allowed inside” and “no food anywhere but kitchen” were reiterated constantly through texts from the host and posted multiple places through the property. This included the threat of extra fees if the rules were broken. I’m not sure if previous people have trashed the place so maybe these rules were put in place because of that but it still didn’t make us feel at home. The kitchen wasn’t well stocked with needed dishes including a cutting board, mowing bowls, or working coffee maker or trash bags, and the one large pot leaked when we tried to use it. When I messaged the host she had us break a locked cabinet to retrieve trash bags. The jacuzzi tub couldn’t be used the first day because the drain didn’t seal, the host brought a plug, but the hot water heater wasn’t adequate to fill the tub with warm water. One of the bed frames collapsed when my parents were laying on it, and a frame piece fell out of the bottom of a kitchen bench I was sitting on. Even though things were beautiful, the furnishings must be really cheap. The mosquitos were completely out of control so we couldn’t sit outside- even with bug spray on. As it was we got bit all night long in our bedrooms (I have bug bites on my eyebrows, sides of my face, and all over my arms) and mosquitos were even in the bathrooms. We spent a lot of time smashing them. This isn’t the host’s fault but I thought others should know to come prepared. The wifi was non-existent downstairs and kind of shotty upstairs. I hate giving this place only 3 stars because I’ve never done that but I really think I need to be honest and fair with my review.

We loved it! It was clean and roomy. Plenty of space for the kids to play outside. Access to the river was right there. Perfect vacation spot! I highly recommend it!
