Nestled in Highlands, this charming house for £331 per night is a great option for your next break. The quintessential Highlands charmer makes its way into the new age! This home is what vacationing in downtown Highlands is all about - the luxury of being close to downtown while exuding sophistication and style. A recent remodel has totally transformed this mountain cabin that now boasts exquisite details and décor such as beautifully refinished hardwood floors, 3 remodeled bedrooms, 3 renovated full baths, and lower level bonus room with half bath. The layout is very functional - the living room sits just off of the kitchen with a wood burning fireplace as the centerpiece. It opens to a dedicated dining space that leads to the back deck. Covered and screened, that back deck is spacious, allowing you to open up the doors to enjoy the mild summer days on the Highlands-Cashiers Plateau. The modern conveniences haven't been forgotten....flat screen tv's in the living room and two bedrooms along with wifi internet. Main level has a Master Suite (King) with access to the screened porch, and 2 guest bedrooms (Queens) on either side of the Kitchen. The owners have endeavored to make the most of the space on the painted mason-brick lower level, which has a second laundry machine set and a 4th bonus room with a Full and Twin bed, and a unique split half-bath. Pets must be approved and a pet fee is required.* [All of the homes managed by Highlands Vacation Rentals have wifi internet access(speeds may vary based on different providers), basic kitchenware & dishes, linens provided, and a starter set of amenities including: 2 toilet paper rolls per bathroom + A set of personal shampoo, conditioner, hand & body soap (also per bathroom), 2 paper towel rolls, a few kitchen trash bags, a kitchen sponge, some dish soap and a couple of dishwasher and laundry detergent pods. ] ** Please be advised that the Convenience fee is the credit card processing fee for the reservation. If you wish to avoid this fee, you may still place your reservation but will need to call the office and pay by echeck ** CANCELLATION POLICY: Our cancellation policy (effective for bookings confirmed after April 1, 2024) is outlined below: For reservations that are 21 days or less, A reservation cancelled ( by email receipt ) between 0 - 45 days prior to arrival is not eligible for a refund. If reservation is cancelled more than 45 days prior to arrival, guest shall receive a refund of all payments made* less a cancellation fee of 10% of the total cost of the reservation AND the cost of any trip insurance if purchased. *Refunds do not include third-party service fees as those are determined by the booking site and we do not control how those funds are processed. For any reservations that are more than 21 days, No refund will be given unless the property is re-rented over the previously booked dates. This was a wonderful house for a long weekend getaway that 6 girls planned. The home is nicely decorated, clean, just as listed in the online review and very comfortable. I would say that the 4th "bedroom" downstairs isnt really one anybody would want to stay in - it's basically an unfinished basement with two twin beds. the upstairs, however, was lovely and suited perfectly for our group of 6. I'd rent this property again for sure!

My friends and I had a wonderful time at the Estes Cottage. The home is beautifully decorated and welcoming. The well-equipped kitchen and outside porch were highlights. The beds were very comfortable. The reason I gave this home a 4 instead of a 4 is the 4th bedroom in the basement was a disappointment. We had to draw for it and felt bad for my friend who had to sleep there. While I can see that the owners tried their best to make this as welcoming as possible, it was not clear in the listing that this bedroom is on the lower level with cinderblock walls and a toilet. I think this would be find for a family traveling with kids, but for 4 women expecting equal accommodations it fell shore on this point. I'll note that there was a walkout from this level but it still felt like a basement.
Otherwise the house is really great and we really had a great time.

Great NC home in a great town!
My friends and I had a wonderful time at the Estes Cottage. The home is beautifully decorated and welcoming. The well-equipped kitchen and outside porch were highlights. The beds were very comfortable. The reason I gave this home a 4 instead of a 4 is the 4th bedroom in the basement was a disappointment. We had to draw for it and felt bad for my friend who had to sleep there. The Estes Cottage is a beautiful house centrally located near Highlands. The house is very well furnished with all the equipment needed and very comfortable. Loved the layout and the bedrooms. I would defiantly recommend this home to all my family and friends who make a trip to Highlands!

Lovely property. Smaller home, kids were afraid to sleep in basement room, but a lovely house. Kitchen stocked well, we cooked a full Thanksgiving dinner and had everything we needed!

We had the best time at this rental! It was by far the most well-appointed VRBO rental I have stayed in. Every thing you need for cooking and drinking! Plenty of space for 8 adults to lounge, dine, and sleep. We will be back!

Also, fireplace is wood burning without a gas starter. Bring kindling/fire starters to easily start your fires. Overall our family loved staying here and we will be back!!

We so enjoyed staying at Mirror Lake! The decor was absolutely beautiful. It was so cozy and quiet . The Molton Brown products were a special touch and it was the perfect getaway for our family of four.

The home was lovely, beautifully decorated, with plenty of room for our family of five. Would be hesitant to book again in the winter as home is located on a steep, poorly grated gravel road. Fortunately for us we had beautiful weather so no issues.

My family of 6 (plus our dog) absolutely loved our stay. The home was appointed so beautifully, exceptionally clean and there was plenty of room for us to spread out. The kitchen had everything we needed and overall it was just perfect! Hope we can return soon!

The home is close to Highlands, so easy to drive in to town; but be aware that part of the roads are not paved, only gravel. We were fine even driving a sedan; however the road was 100% better after the county grated it a day after we arrived. We would definitely stay there again. I can’t say enough about Highlands Cove Realty. They were awesome to work with from prior to booking and all during our stay. Each person went above and beyond to make sure our stay was perfect. I highly recommend their company for any rental property in the Highlands area!!

Excellent place to stay. The layout of the house gave everyone a lot of privacy and kept the noise from one side of the house away from the other. Kitchen was very nice, fully functional. My only suggestion is to add something capable of accessing Netfix.

We were pleasantly surprised to find that the pictures were a true depiction of the home as sometimes that is not the case when renting a vacation home. Overall we enjoyed our 3 wks stay at the renovated cottage in the Mirror Lake subdivision. It was quite peaceful up there at the dead end of the road and in the woodsy environment. The cottage was very nicely furnished, and comfortable beds. Our one gripe: too many decorative pillows on the beds and not much space to put them when getting into bed. The gravel road(about 1/3 mile)up to the cottage was a bit of a challenge for the first couple of weeks until a big scraper machine came and straightened out the deep washed out places. -They had had a lot of rain this summer.- We had a couple of issues where we needed help/advice, and each time the manager responded promptly. Overall a very pleasant stay.
