Casa de Agua - Cool Comfort with Nature to Hike
About this house rental
Casa de Agua greets you inside with cool air and colorful Mexican furniture throughout and outside with an awesome view of thousands of undeveloped acres on the Ranch next door. On this side of the fence there are 6 acres of nature to hike up A-mountain. Three bedrooms with new comfortable mattresses and smooth linens, two bathrooms, a 60 inch clawfoot bathtub where you can fully enjoy the natural well water, a comfortable office with high speed internet, a full kitchen, and a two car garage. Mule deer know. Bats and barn swallows, birds that call the desert home, and those that pass thru the Alps of Texas, like the painted buntings, blue herons, or ducks, are learning-some have stopped in, and just on the edge of Alpine, one mile south, lies Casa de Agua. Through its windows, in the front yard, serenely place, is a pond. This is what the animals know. Looking out beyond the pond is the magnificent, wide-open, high desert. At the water's edge, the wild mountainous desert softened by this water oasis, calms the spirit and wicks happiness at each swoop of a bird coming for a desert drink. Mosquito fish dance in their pond and find habitat in up-cycled ash tree stumps and cattails that caress the desert landscape at each breeze. This view can be enjoyed sitting outside by the pond, inside from the living room, working from the office, or from the master bedroom. At night the Big Dipper and shooting stars can be seen right out the front door. Loving nature, the yard around Case de Agua is organically landscaped without the use of chemicals and native plants like salvias, yellow bells, penstemons, Mexican bear grass, and wildflowers, etc. adorn and delight the human eye and provide sustenance to hummingbirds, bumble bees, and other bees of the desert. Casa de Agua is a little bit city and a little bit country all swirled together, creating the perfect getaway, all awaiting only you! Casa de Agua has an awesome view of thousands of undeveloped acres on the Ranch next door. On this side of the fence there are 6 acres of nature to hike in - up A-mountain. There is also a treasure hunt for children along the path. Check out the digital guide for more information! These trails feature is part of the natural landscape which can be prickly and poky. Be sure to wear appropriate clothing and shoes while hiking. The area around the pond is a common area that can be enjoyed by guests and residents living close by. Available by phone Casa de Agua received its name not only because of the special pond in its front yard, but also because it has a unique location in walking distance to a natural foods store called Blue Water Natural Foods, which is an oasis in itself. Open everyday 9am -8 pm, Blue Water provides organic produce, frozen /refrigerated natural foods, meats, vitamins/supplements, beer and wine to the Big Bend. On the road to Big Bend National Park, Blue Water has a great selection of road -trip snacks, cold drinks, and ice for all your adventures here in Far West Texas! Casa de Agua is pet friendly with prior notice and a $40 pet fee that will be requested through AirBnB before your arrival. Please do not allow pets on the furniture. Please be aware that the desert terrain can be quite harsh for pets that are not used to it. Dogs shoes are recommended. EV Charger - An EV charger is located at Blue Water Natural Grocery store a few yard from Casa de Agua. We have just a couple of rules: 1. No Smoking 2. No Parties or Events 3. Pets only with prior notice and a $40 pet fee which we will request a few days before arrival. Also beware that we have the property regularly treated for pests. However, if you leave food or crumbs out it is very likely to attract ants into the property. ** Please watch for rattlesnakes. They are part of the native landscape. Keep an eye on your pets. If you see one, please leave it alone and slowly back away.

Loved the dog trail my dog enjoyed. House was very nice and cozy.

We loved everything about it. The two door garage was awesome. The trails and the outside seating was awesome. The scenery and the quietness was nice. The location and the grocery store being walking distance was a nice touch. The ladies at the store are really nice and down to earth. They let me use the baskets to carry my things to the house and bring them back.

House is charming and spacious to fit our needs. Our issues were with bathrooms. Claw foot tub drain was not hooked up properly and we were constantly cleaning up water. This needs to be addressed. The second bathroom the shower curtain felt dirty. There was also hair in the tub when we got there. The yard was overgrown which led to getting goat heads stuck on our shoes and clothes. However, the owners addressed this very quickly, we we appreciated.

A wonderful highly recommended mountain getaway. A relaxing perfect family location for visiting Big Bend National Park, Guadalupe Mountain National Park and Carlsbad Caverns National Park. The unit was lavishly appointed, comfortable and we lacked nothing we desired. Pack your clothes and toiletries and visit Alpine!

Great, quaint, quiet, and ease of access to the town plus adjacent venues was great. The fact you can walk less than 2min to the store which is friendly, and stocked up is awesome. It made our stay that much more incredible.

We enjoyed sitting outside in the cool breeze and looking at the mountains. The house was well-equipped and comfortable. The kids enjoyed the hiking trails.

Very nice and clean house. Was a great location for our day trips in the area. It was also nice to have a garage to park our vehicle in. Would stay again. Only thing is the yard could use some TLC.

Great place for 2 couples with pets. Perfect location for surrounding towns and of course Big Bend. Fenced in back yard was great for pets. Quite, and had everything we needed. Grounds needed upkeep. Would return.

This places is spacious, has beautiful views, hiking access, and the best stargazing we saw the whole trip. There is a grocery store at right down the hill which has everything you need. I especially loved that the only items labeled in the home were helpful (like light switches). The last few places we have stayed feel like the signage is borderline threatening and very unwelcoming reminder of all the house rules everywhere.
All beds were comfortable, plenty of towels and blankets, and a really nice view. Would stay again if I had the chance!

Had a great time seeing Big Bend. Nice house and having a grocery store so close was super.

This is a clean, roomy home with concrete floors and a fenced yard, so it’s great for dogs. The pond did not look like the pictures, but hopefully the owners will clean it up. It’s VERY quiet here. Would be a good retreat for a writer. The Blue Water grocery is a 1 minute walk.

Great place for small family and dog. Fenced in yard was perfect for the dog/kids (boys age 3 and 6). Hiking and wildlife out the front door. All amenities in the home that we needed.

Nice, clean, good layout. Enjoyed the outside area and pond. Saw deer, a hawk, and several small birds. Beds were comfortable. Made most of our meals. Glad we chose Casa de Agua and recommend it for others wanting a simple, clean, home-like place to stay with easy day trips to the area attractions.

The home is decorated nicely, beds very comfortable, kitchen well stocked with needed cookware and dishes. Having a washer and dryer was a plus. The pond has nice seating area which we were only able to use once but it is very pleasant to sit and watch the dragon flies swoop about. Property manager very responsive. About an hour to drive to Big Bend Nat'l Park. I would definitely recommend.

The home was beautifully decorated and well equipped for our group of six adults. It was so relaxing to sit outside in the evenings and watch antelope and mule deer meander across the hill behind the house. The location of the home was so convenient to town but also very quiet. All three beds were very comfortable. We will definitely put this home on our list when we return to the area.

I love this property and the location. It is close to everything in Alpine (restaurants, bars, grocery stores, Kokerknott baseball field), but still feels remote. The hiking trail on the property is great with outstanding views at the top of the trail. The bed in the master bedroom is fantastic! I slept like a baby each night. The bedding is soft and cozy. Another plus of this property is the internet. I stayed at this house for 10 days and worked remotely 7 out of the 10 days without any issues with the internet. The house has window units for air conditioning, but a/c was not used much because the temperature and altitude make pleasant breezes; I hardly used the a/c. The fenced in back yard was perfect for my dog. There is an "all natural" grocery store that is within walking distance of the house. Additionally, April was a wonderful host. I thoroughly enjoyed my stay and will be back!

If i could give more stars i would
The description does no justice to how cozy, beautiful, and clean this property is. Communication with the manager was instant. She was incredibly kind, helpful and Professional. Getting to the property, my GPS took me down a little further down the road by the church but the place is right behind the natural foods store. So when you see the blue water natural foods store (on Blue water st) turn right on that street and just go up the hill and it's to the right there. When it took me further and we arrived at almost 9 pm, i emailed April asking if she could call to help find the spot and she immediately called and stayed on the line to help us get there and it was super fast and easy from there. It's just minutes away from Holland Ave and Avenue E and my daughter and i were so cozy and safe here. We can't recommend this place enough. I've stayed at many VRBOs and i think this was the best one ever. Super clean, private, with gorgeous views around the clock of the private pond, the backyard full of native flowers and plants or at night the light pollution is so minimal that one can stargaze. We'll be back with her dad and sister soon. It being by the natural food store was also very convenient for when we didn't feel like eating out or we forgot to bring cotton swabs. Seriously, thank you, April. This place was a dream for both my kiddo and I.

Pleasant Gateway!
My husband and I had an enjoyable and relaxful stay at the Casa de Agua property. We appreciate the attention by our host. The location was perfect for the nearby visits to Ft Davis and other places. We will definitely come back and recommend it to others. Thanks again!

The house was as advertised, clean and spacious. The grocery store at the bottom of the hill has everything you need. The location is perfect for day trips to Big Bend, Marfa, Balmorhea and the Davis mountains. We would stay there again.

The location is just outside of town and the views are great. It is near other rentals but feels private. The house was perfect for our 4some. Bedrooms separate but open living/dining/kitchen area in the middle was perfect for visiting. It is just uphill from the Blue Water Natural Food store which has most anything you might need (easy walking distance). Nice little pond area with seating...a little too cool in February but we used it. If I had one request, it would be that they would add a day bed or such to the office area (not everyone in our group was able to share a bed). We attended the Lone Start Cowboy Poetry Event and this was a perfect spot. Very close with a remote feel. We would absolutely do it again. It appears that this is very new as there are new plantings around the house and along the hiking trail. Bravo y'all...keep up the good work. Hope to see you next year.
