The staff in office and adjoining restaurant was great, very friendly and accommodating. The room clean, comfortable.

We used Expedia to book a room as front desk could not meet their price. Front desk help at check in was very nice. We were very disappointed the hotel restaurant was closed however clerk suggested an alternative. We decided to go to another hotel to eat and their food and service were excellent. All in all would give good rating.

Great little hotel right off the highway. I was tired after a long day of driving and this hotel was perfect for a night's rest. The checkin was quick and I was in my room relaxing within 5 minutes. It was clean and surprisingly large. Water had good pressure and great hot shower. I would stay here again since I make this highway run every year.

It was a wonderful well kept mid/century motor lodge. The staff were polished had professional. The room immaculate. Highly recommend this property.

I'm not sure how this got an 8.0 Very Good rating unless it has really gone downhill very quickly. There were nicer places in the same area at around the same price point. The room was large for a hotel room, but that was the only positive. There were ants everywhere. It got uncomfortably warm in the room even though it was only in the 70s outside and the tiny AC unit didn't do anything. They have wifi, but it was so slow it was basically useless. The pool was closed and looked to have been for a very long time.

This hotel is conveniently located off the interstate and the adjoining restaurant is awesome. The room was descent and the price was good.

Everyone was so friendly, the restaurant food was great and the margaritas were delicious! We had our dogs and it was perfect with the pet area in the parking lot. We will be back when we travel to Colorado 3 times a year! Thank you.

It is a convenient place to stay. Easy off and on the freeway and the restaurant is very good.

Old, very run down, and not clean. Might have been a nice place to stay 25 years ago. But not today. Not recommended.

We stopped in Rotan and found a very dead town, though surrounded by beauty. The room was super clean but super outdated. The save was the wonderful staff. So kind and excellent.

The lamp shades were stained and damaged. The light switch cover was broken. The shower liner was pulled away from the wall. The back door to the restaurant kitchen was hanging from one hinge. While I was spending the night the other hinge gave up and the steel door fell.

The colors of the room were pretty. Table was dirty. Mattress was so uncomfortable. Littlerally springs were sticking up in our backs. We got up at 5 and left after wakimg up multiple times.

The personnel was friendly. Room was clean. The recliner in the room looked like it was picked up from dumpster. Ice machine down. Few drunks on the lobby from attached restaurant. Swimming pool closed.

Ok let’s address the elephant in the room: This is not, never was, never will be a Howard Johnson’s hotel and restaurant. No orange roof, no functional restaurant, nothing representative of that brand. This is a failing old property that somebody paid for the right to put a tiny Howard Johnson sign up in front of the place. Ok technically there is a restaurant but it is not a Howard Johnson restaurant and when I was there at 7pm the lights were off and nobody was in there, and in the morning they outright said it was not open, they offered me an apple and granola bar in a paper sack. I actually ate at this place once before a couple years ago, I ordered pizza & pasta, I got a microwaved mini-pizza like from a college dormitory that was so mushy it was inedible, I asked the waitress to give me a little more spaghetti to compensate and she said she’d have to charge me for a second dinner. If I knew this was the place I would be staying, I never would have booked here. It is one of the worst hotels I have ever stayed in, maybe not THE worst, but, ANY other hotel in this town is better than this one.

Overall not my favorite place but needed somewhere to stay. Found hair in bathroom and linen says only changed every 3 days. Old furniture in the rooms not conducive to being cleaned so not sure how they were doing that. City of Raton needs better hotels.

I stay here when I’m in Raton. I appreciate the pet friendly policy and pet yard (pickup bag dispenser was empty but I always have my own). Was looking forward to the complimentary hot breakfast. Please bring it back. The regular menu is wonderful! New Mexican food is a treat for me.

There were bugs everywhere and looked like another random hotel stole the name. Dirty ice machine out of order. All we needed was a place to stay on our drive and ice for our cooler clean showerand bed. A miss on all fronts.

The staff here is SUPER nice and helpful. The room was well cleaned, but VERY old, including flooring that is coming up cut my toe. It's obvious this place hasn't had any updating in at least 40 years. And the wifi was really bad, couldn't even stream Netflix. Overpriced for the condition, but the room was huge. Not happy about the $30.00 pet fee for a room with buckling floors and 30 year old paint. Why charge a pet fee is the room is already in such poor condition? A/C unit was really old and sounded like a B-52 engind as well. Too bad too, because the folks that work there are so dang nice. :-(

This property had several vagrant people out front of the lobby door, which was unlocked, and the parking lot was completely full. We had to walk pretty far from our car to the room, through a hallway door which was also unlocked, to get to our room. The door was not solid and it didn’t go all the way to the floor. The room was clean and front desk attendant was very friendly but the property had no security and was an old motel.
