My only problem was the lights being too dim and one of the lights was not even working.

I love pets. I have my own pets.. this is a pet friendly hotel. But they should have the pet rooms on the ground floor. At the moment I’m on the ground floor, the people above me have a dog in their room and it’s super loud, dragging things across the floor… running around.

Room was beautifully done, beds were comfortable, great place to stay.

We stayed in a studio type room - very spacious - room to eat in. Super comfortable - like a home away from home.
If you like Chinese food, the restaurant is excellent.
My 2nd time staying there. Will be my go-to place in Kenora for sure.

DO NOT STAY HERE. When we arrived in our room after a long day of travelling, it was poorly lit with one of the lamps being broken. The bathroom was covered in long black hair and pubic hair, with the tub looking like it hadn’t been cleaned in weeks. There was dust everywhere. The bed was full of pet, pubic, and head hair, had stains in the sheets, and smelled dirty. When we contacted the manager and asked for another room, the room we were brought to was somehow worse. The floors were covered in sand/dirt, and tiny pebbles all over the floors. In front of the manager, I noted this and pulled back the sheets to find rocks and dirt all over the sheets. I told the manager that this was worse, so she offered us a full refund and to go elsewhere. After calling several other hotels around 8pm and not finding other availability, we asked the manager for fresh sheets and agreed to stay in our original room, as we didn’t want to sleep in our UHaul overnight. After pulling more hairs off the clean sheets we were brought, we went to bed and left early the next morning. I called the Inn back twice asking to speak to the manager, and when I finally got a hold of her, she said we couldn’t get any refund for our stay, despite all our troubles. This place has horrible customer service and cleaning practices. Steer clear.

Bathroom which had been updated was clean. Sheets were clean. Floor was very dirty. Tub chair under cushion hasn’t been cleaned. “Reception” area hasn’t seen a vacuum in a long time and area was cluttered and untidy. Stayed there because alternatives were booked up. Could be a nice place but needs a ton of work outside and in.

Clean room. Hotel easy to access from main road into town. Nice firm bed with quality sheets & pillow. Had to arrange late check in (after 8 PM) but staff made the process easy peasy.

The place was ok but the linen on the bed looked a little iffy. One lady thought there were bugs in her bed. I did not experience that but there was definitely hair in my bed. It looked like pubic hair. Also there was a stain on the sheet

The views were beautiful, but the room we had 1st had dirty bedding, not sure if it was bugs or not, the 2nd room wasn't as bad but the door wasn't fitted properly to the frame so there was gaps thatbugs came through, the main building where you checked in was filthy. I think if they put a little money into fixing it up it would be an awesome place to stay.

One of the beds smelled of strong perfume which may indicate that sheets were not changed.

The front desk service is not too friendly. The rooms are in second floor with no lift, it is a bit difficult for an old guy to carry luggage up. The scenery is ok, but blocked by the trees. The room is neat and comfortable.

The cleaning solution used in the room was very overpowering. We couldnt sleep. I suggest they dilute the solution further or change the cleaning product.

The room was disgustingly dirty. The beds had bugs in them when we turned down the linens and at that point, we decided to leave. The office was closed so we could not speak with anyone.

Door broken. Vents broken. Curtains old. Property in need of clean up.
Restaurant not open to eat in.

Could have been cleaner, don’t even supply ice. Fridge wasn’t cleaned

It was amazing!

The check in process is a bit strange as a Chinese food takeout restaurant is also the check in. The good news is the the take out food is fabulous. A general and grocery store is just two buildings away to pick up whatever you need. It is a two block walk to a park with a playground and a swimming beach. The rooms were very clean - although cleaning solution left a strong smell. Not all rooms are air conditioned so make sure you request it if you need it.

Super friendly and easy at checkin. 2 minute walk to public beach. Nice patio with BBQ.

It was ok for a stay the bed could have felt better but it was ok

The facility is great but I think there’s been a recent change in ownership and management and it made the distinction between the restaurant and the Inn confusing. The staff were very friendly though.

I had booked 4 rooms in January to make sure we had accommodation for a special wedding in July. Seemed easy enough and it was stated I could change my reservation up to the 25th of July. Hotels .com were unable to change the number of days needed on my reservation and the hotel was nearly impossible to get ahold of. The front desk was only open from 3-8 pm and they often don’t answer the phone, their mailbox is always full so can’t leave a message. After many attempts and very frustrating conversations I managed to get it sorted with the hotel. Hotels .com never did get it right and even the dates on this review are wrong. Also the original rate I was given changed by over a $100.more a night because I changed the number of nights to 1 instead of 3 for one of the rooms.
The hotel itself is comfortable but could use a little more detail to cleanliness and replenishing of coffee for the next day and cleaning the coffee pot. Very pleasant area to sit outside if someone would take 5 minutes a day to sweep the cobwebs off the lawn furniture and windows etc. just needs a little more attention to detail. Beds are comfortable and front desk staff were pleasant. My biggest beef was with the booking process the hotel was satisfactory.

The staff was friendly, the room clean and comfortable. The area was great with some walkable places around it. There is a restaurant on site which makes food very accessible but there are also many options within minutes. We enjoyed it there and would stay again.

This property had an overwhelming smell of cleaning products. We actually went to the store and bought paper towels to wash the floors to try and remove some of the product but were not too successful. The room was extremely dark. The property was overrun with weeds and plants but attempts have been made to maintain the property. Overall, a place to rest if you aren’t too concerned with the smell of Mr. Clean.

Room was very quiet due to post and beam construction, had interesting decor. Very clean, though the only external light was from the door and a window beside it so the room seemed dark. Even allowing for it being peak season (July) but the price seemed very high.

The room felt very damp, the cleaning solution used had a very overwhelming scent, so much so we had to leave the door open to air it out. The floors were filthy, had to wash my feet before putting my sandals on.
Beds were comfy though.

The bed was comfortable, the bathroom was nice, and the building itself had a lot of character. However, the rooms were poorly lit (no ceiling light, lamps only, perhaps because of the vaulted ceiling?) and smelled strongly of their cleaners to the point of needing to air it out when we arrived.
Coffee is provided but it's in a clear plastic container that doesn't give any indication of what it is. There's a French press in the room for brewing which we liked the idea of but not enough coffee grounds to brew two cups.

Kenora is such a beautiful town and the Timberland Inn did not disappoint. It’s very clean, beds are comfortable and the surroundings are lovely. The staff was very friendly and check-in was a breeze.

Awesome spot. Friendly management. Clean, nice beds and towels and hot showers.

The property was quiet and comfortable, the room was clean although the carpet felt damp. It would need replacing. Not enough lighting, the room was very dark. Wildlife was not very far away.

The beds were uncomfortable. The structure looks like it's going to fall. Lots of rotting wood. The grounds were dirty.

Beautiful place to stay with great Chinese restaurant on site. Room was clean and quiet. Only complaint is that you can only see the water but can't actually access it by walking.

The room was clean and well appointed. It was perfect for our needs

Forgotten Lake Otter. Everything better than expected!

I didn’t like the strong smell of a deterrent in the room. Slippery floors.

Although the Bathroom and bed was clean the carpet was disgusting and whatever chemical was used on the property caused an allergic reaction. We had to leave couldn’t get a refund but thankfully the Super 8 took us in and gave us the honeymoon suite
The photos advertised of Timberland Inn are absolutely old and may have been taken over 25 years ago
Need to haul your luggage 3 flights
I would not book there

Extremely quiet. Rooms recently renovated, so very clean and comfortable. Vinyl plank floors which is so much cleaner than carpet and perfect for dogs.

We called ahead to say we would be late. The restaurant was closed and the reception area was dirty.

Beautiful location but disappointed in the upkeep of their grounds, cleanliness of rooms and lack of availability of basic hotel facilities. Landscaping not maintained, room was poorly cleaned (hairs in tub, carpets dark with dirt), room was extremely poorly light - had the queen suite, but felt like I was in a dark cave, restaurant has no dining in anymore - no breakfast available), no phones in room to call front desk, no vending or ice machine that I could find. Location is beautiful, but new management have not put any TLC into the place for years unfortunately.
5.0
Very nice room and a nice comfortable place to stay.
6.0
The front desk area was not clean and had a room adjacent full of boxes. There is a restaurant for lunch and dinner but breakfast was not included.
The area around the hotel is very nice with gardens and fountains. It all needs a bit of work but has potential to be very nice. The hotel is under new management and perhaps this is work scheduled to be done.
