We never did stay here, we were dissapointed at the state of the front of the property, dirty, littered and in need of decorating.
Inside was filthy and desperately in need of DIY. We left and stayed elsewhere.

We were visiting family who have moved to the area. This was the nearest accommodation available. We had seen the reviews, we were aware of what to expect. You can not find cheaper accommodation than The Pines. Staff delightful. Breakfast was excellent. Bed was very comfortable, we all slept well. The decor isn’t the most up to date but if you want somewhere super fancy and trendy, you will pay a lot more than this.

Place was noisy throughout the night with other people shouting. Got little to no sleep due to this and checked out a night early! Would not recommend at all.

The hotel is old, do not expect anything apart from OK. It will do the job for one or two nights.

The host was nice, however the condition of the hotel is horrendous. The whole place needs a refurb. Everything was dirty/falling off

Don't bother

The Pines was adequate for my needs. It is in need of updating and decorating. Toilet in need of renovating. Parking dufficult. Apart from that it was reasonably clean, with clean bedding and towels. Price was reasonable and included a breakfast, unfortunately I had to leave on both mornings before breakfast was served. Staff member was friendly and helpful.

Absolutely awful place! We booked 3 rooms here, and all 3 were disgusting and vile. The entire building from top to bottom was dirty and grubby, and the place looked like it had never been cleaned! There was limescale and dirt all around the taps and toilet and inside the kettle, the seals were hanging off the shower, there were stains all over the walls, the bedding and the carpets, and 2/3 of our bedroom windows had been smashed. The place was so run down and not at all fit for purpose. I have previously worked in a hostel with homeless adults most of whom were drug users, and the state of The Pines makes the hostel where I previously worked look like the Ritz. We were really disappointed and would not return to The Pines under any circumstances. I was shocked when I mentioned how dirty the rooms were to a member of staff who said "unfortunately there is nothing we can do about that". This gave me the impression that the staff don't even care about their business or reputation. They also claim there is a carpark to the rear of the property, however there is no way anything wider than a mobility scooter would fit past the building to access the "car park". This place was filthy and I don't know how they are allowed to stay open. I wouldn't even give this place 1 star. Best part of this stay was getting home and having a shower to scrub The Pines off me. God knows what we've caught after spending a night here. Avoid this place at all costs!

The room was OK but the breakfast was superb!

Never like giving bad reviews as we appreciate times have been hard for small business, but the issues we encountered do not cost much money to address. Firstly the staff member that met us when we arrived at around 9.30 pm was very good and took our bags to the room, that really is when the good bits finished. The room has not been properly cleaned for a long time. The bath/shower taps were filthy, the sink very grubby, tap top broken, the window surrounding was covered in cobwebs and the window held open by a book. The room light was just a single bulb with no lampshade, and there were unidentified marks all over the walls. All of this could be sorted with a good clean and painting. The main areas however did look clean, that was the bar and a lounge. Would not stay here again and could not recommend. The parking is also a problem as there is only a few tight spaces at the front then a really tight lane to get to the back but you need a small car to navigate that. The bedding did look clean, we were not looking for 5 star as it was a budget price but the standard of cleanliness in the room was such that we did not feel comfortable eating there so did not stay for breakfast so cannot comment on that.

Property was old but Ok for the price.

This place is delightfully deceiving as it may at first appear tired and drab however look beyond this as the reception (Tom) is warm and friendly and happily assists with cases up the stairs which is a rare but appreciated gesture. The rooms have a small fridge with freezer compartment (rare), wifi is really strong, rooms are cosy and warm with double pillows and comfy beds and the showers are strong. All essential boxes ticked at The Pines as well as being clean and full of quaint character! Plus cost is ridiculously cheap for the Cotswald and Bath proximity of location. A very pleasant experience all round

Cleanliness was adequate. The toast at breakfast was only lightly toasted but this was remedied after speaking to the staff

I was greeted by a friendly member of staff upon arrival and was helpful with my requests. I was able to park at the front of the property. It would be nice to have the WIFI passcode in the room and also a lock on the door.

Say the Pines Hotel was tired is a little understating Hall carpets smell funny and tired could do with a fresh lick of paint skirting boards never cleaned paint peeling off the head of the shower shower brackets on cupboards broken windows not cleaned for a long time time bed was comfortable and then it was clean overall but for the price of the hotel was good cheap

Cheap and cheerful. Staff helpful and friendly. Was there for a football match with friends. Just the job.

The Pines could best be described as utilitarian. It could do with a lick of paint and the bathroom perhaps was a tad shabby but when I stay at a hotel all I want is a quiet night's sleep in a comfortable bed and I certainly got that and I would stay there again.

Quirky a bit of Fawlty Towers in Chippenham.
We read several reviews which we were concerned about but on arrival and finding our room we thought it ok. It was clean and tidy. OK a tad tired regarding decor etc but for two nights B&B it was really cheap and had comfortable beds. The chap that welcomed us and seen to our breakfast could not have been more helpful. I suppose the million dollar question is would we go back again. And the answer is yes. It’s ideal for a couple of nights, and central for our needs.

The staff were excellent and accomodating would recommend!

This place was not worth anywhere near the £47 we paid would have had a better night sleep in the car the shower temperature gauge was held on by a half way in screw so if you stood to close you would catch your self on it and you had to stand close as was not a lot of room the shower door might as well not even been there as would not close and if you managed to close it felt like it was going to fall off it's runners in your hand the tv was so small you had to strain your eyes to even see it and everytime you want to change the channel or volume you had to get out of bed at the remote did not work could feel the springs in the mattress sticking out like they had snapped the sink that was in the room not the bathroom had a sort of orange yellow scum round it and not enough plug sockets and they all seem to be one side of the room marks on the bedding as soon as we walked in the paint was falling off the walls as well no information about what time breakfast was or anything like that all round would say avoid at all costs would not recommend to anyone would go as far as saying need to be shut down

Old. Run down. Very basic. Ok for one night at very reasonable rates but remember you only get what you pay for.

Good location, close to town centre, train station, limited of road parking which was very useful, could definitely do with a referb but was generally clean and tidy with a comfy bed, the chap who booked me in was friendly and helpful, value for money was excellent £31.50 for a double ensuite room.

Basic accommodation but a good price. Convenient to town and station.

We booked two rooms, hotel very very worn and broken down, dirty toilet, broken window frames, no light shades, paint peeling in bedroom and bath room, whole place felt dirty and was covered in stains on carpet and walls, bedside lamp stand broken away 2” gap under my daughter door that we blocked incase camera was pushed under, secondary glazing propped up with a book and the top half wouldn’t shut properly, very cheap but very very poor, carpet worn and thread bare , would not use again , daughters slept well in their bed.

Ofrächt, väggarna flagade, toaletten var så smutsigt. Kan abolut inte rekommendera stället. Killen som jobbade var tillmötesgående, men stället var chabbigt
