This is a fantastic hotel in Kyoto. The location is right on the river, near Gion, and walking distance to Pontocho Alley. This hotel manages to combine the best aspects of a modern hotel with classic elements of a Japanese Ryokan. My wife loved the big comfortable bed and soft pillows but I was also able to go to their onsen (Japanese bath) And they had the option of an onsen type bath right in our room with special bath salts. My wife loved that. I recommend you get the included breakfast. It was delicious and varied in their restaurant with great staff. Even an omelette station tho’ I didn’t have room

Excellent location, close to multiple train and bus lines. Staff were friendly and efficient. My room was nicely laid out and larger than expected considering other hotels I've stayed with in Japan. I have no complaints, and if I were to come back to Kyoto I could see myself staying here again. One of the nearby streets was lovely to walk on during cherry blossom season.

Great location for seeing all of Kyoto. Very near 2 stations and the river. Also close to city for shopping and endless eating out choices. Very clean and staff so nice. Great value

We really enjoyed the atmosphere, down to the little details. The lobby always smelled wonderfully of lemongrass. It felt relieving to step into the hotel, a little like “home”. We found the room to be beautiful, and loved the amenities, including the jacuzzi tub and refrigerator. I have nothing I can recommend to make this stay better.
I hope in the future, they will consider opening the on site Onsen for people with tattoos- it looked beautiful in the photos but wasn’t something we could experience unfortunately. Maybe a special hour with people with tattoos to avoid offending others?

Room was very clean and spacious which was good as we had 2 large bags with travelling. The reception staff were very helpful especially as our luggage was delayed from Tokyo and they rang the company for us and also let us know as soon as it had arrived.
We didn’t use the bath house as I have tattoos. Overall a great stay!

Very spacious room and very clean! Staff were lovely. It was in such a convenient location - it was a walkable distance to many attractions/shops. Overall, stay was very enjoyable!

The area is convenient, the room is spacious, by walk to the city center in 5 to 10 minutes, and it is convenient for shopping and eating.

I do not understand why we were charged the executive suite price when we were downgraded to a triple twin room .
I asked the front desk if they are different price and she said yes, but when I asked them why I was charged the same original amount that I booked the executive suite, she said that they are the same price. When I looked again on Expedia the price for the triple twin beds room ,for Jan 3, booking it was quoting $238 per night instead of the $400 plus a night that I paid for an executive suite which I did not get since the front desk downgraded us to a triple twin bed to accommodate three adults. She said the executive suite allows three people but the third person is a 6 yr old maximum which did not show in the Expedia website / the reason i booked it. We felt we were overcharged for a triple twin bed room for an executive suite room price.
This bait and switch ruined my original trust in the hotel that we stayed in just before Christmas two weeks ago. If you can’t trust the hotel , it does not matter how clean or good their facilities are. It ruins it for the rest of the hotel staff team.

The bedding is way too thick. There’s not many types of food for breakfast. Other than that, everything else is good.

We loved everything about our stay! We had a garden room which was beautiful and clean and right down the hall from the onsen. The hotel was in a perfect location; close to many restaurants, sites, shopping and a metro stop. We will recommend the Solaria to anyone we know going to Kyoto.

A very nice traveler’s hotel in the center of Kyoto. Clean, spacious (for Japan), and quiet even though it directly faces the street. Highly recommended.

It is a beautiful, well maintained facility. The basic rooms are small, but overall it is a good value for Kyoto.

Lovely view of the river which make the stay extra special. They were very accommodating when I asked for quiet room away from the main street. Public bath was a lovely plus, excellent location near lots of popular tourist sites. Bed was a bit hard for me, but so are most Japanese beds.

Room is huge in Japan's standard and top of the line.
Night life and wondefful restaurants are near.

Rainy day in Kyoto. Arrived early. Luggage was stored.and umbrella offered. There was a misunderstanding on reservation as we had 3 guests and only a double room. They upgrade us to a 3 bed corner room at no charge. View of the river. Close to all the Gion shops and dining. Easily would come back!
