This is a small family-owned resort consisting of cozy cabin-style units which are comfortable and well-equipped with good AC, hot/cold running water, and a small refridgerator. It is showing its age -- if you are looking for a luxury resort, then go to one of the big self-contained resorts in West Bay. If you are looking for a quiet, yet easily walkable (to West End dive shops, stores, and restaurants) place to stay with a fantastic view and access to Half Moon Bay right outside your door, then this is the place.

The view is fantastic with good snorkeling in the bay. The rooms are good sized and rustic. If you are coming to stay here expect the bare minimum. The sheets are stained and the towels have holes in them. There is virtually no room service. We got it twice and it consisted of sweeping the room and making the bed. We had to ask for room service. We will stay somewhere else for the same money.

This property is perfect for snorkeling and relaxing.

Great little place, out of the way and on the water, yet the main street with restaurants and shops and dive centres are a couple minutes walk. The resort's dive centre appears to be closed now, but there are lots of nearby options on the mainstreet. Small private beach, shade available, nice snorkeling or swim. The restaurant on site is also closed, but Loreta's, and a baleada (like a breakfast wrap) takeout, are near, and you can request a fridge for snacks. Bottled water is provided to refill your water bottles. We were in one of the rustic cabins, nothing fancy, facing the water and beach, and it was perfect for us. There are some larger and newer cabins a well. There was AC available, but we never turned it on as there was always a nice breeze at night. The surroundings are like a small nature reserve, with hummingbirds, woodpeckers, small deer, and a couple of the endangered Agouti regularly crossed the property. Owned by Hondurans. On Departure day, I had left a book in the room for their book exchange, but without an explanatory note, so the owner, René, thought I had forgotten it, and contacted me to make arrangements to deliver it to the airport. I thought that was very thoughtful, Thank you René! We would definitely stay there again.

I've stayed here several times. West End shops and restaurants are just minutes away on foot. The snorkling at the resort is great and I love the quiet location.

Beautiful private beach front property and premier snorkeling. The owner Rene was very friendly and helpful. Cabins are rustic but clean. Unfortunately bar and restaurant were closed.

Beautiful place. Quaint little beach cabins with a nice reef to snorkel. The owner is very hospitable and friendly. I will definitely return.

I just want to rave about this place! Lovely little cabin on the beach, lots of amazing wildlife and the owner is really great! I had an issue with a male that was traveling in our group and needed to get away from him quickly. They have gone out of their way to ensure I not only got away but that there was no place for him here. I've felt very safe here and can't say enough good things about what they've done to help me.

I had a great visit here. Stayed lots of time on the hammock, snorkeled outside in the clear bay and enjoyed breakfast by the water.

Our group of 12 had the place pretty much to ourselves and could walk to just about everything, including water and land taxis. Our stay included breakfast overlooking the ocean too! Awesome place to stay on a budget!!

Half Moon Resort really delivers exceptional VALUE for the price. The LOCATION cant be beat. Its right on Half Moon Bay and all rooms have a waterfront view. Its easy walking distance to everything in West End but off the main street. so its tranquil.
Plenty of ACTIVITIES are available right at the resort. You can snorkel along the seagrass bottom and see a variety of life — starfish, conch, tropical fish, and other marine animals (a moray eel that lives under the dock next door!) Glass bottom boat tours leave from the resorts dock. And the Roatan Institute of Deepsea Exploration next door is one of two commercial operations in the world that offer the general public submarine expeditions that go deeper than the 120 feet that can be reached scuba diving.
Best of all for divers, there’s great dive operator onsite offering 3-5 scheduled boat dives per day. And EcoDivers is not only eco-friendly -- they offer reef restoration dives and a program to pay with plastic collected on one of their organized beach cleanups -- but its economically friendly to your budget as well, offering a discount to Half Moon Resort guests.
Other AMENITIES include a restaurant that serves breakfast and lunch daily and offers free coffee and purified water (from a bubbler, not plastic bottles) to resort guests. Showers are hot and all rooms are air-conditioned. For a small fee, you can have a mini-fridge added to your room (recommended). Last but definitely not least, the SERVICE is terrific.

Due to researching and reading reviews, Half Moon Bay Resort was exactly what I expected in regards to the facility so I cannot say one bad thing about this place! We stayed in a beach cabin right in the shore...amazing! It’s rustic and simple which is exactly what we were looking for. As far as the staff and service - fantastic! Check-in and check-out were quick and easy, everyone was super friendly, accommodating and requests were delivered upon quickly. The location is perfect, noise from bars across the bay got quiet pretty early if you’re an early to bed person and if not, hopefully you’re a part of the party on the strip, just a few minutes walk away! Do your research and then book, your expectations will be met and experience will be fun! I’d recommend it for sure!

Our room was right on the beach!.The resort is a little ways away from the main drag, but within easy walking distance. The snorkeling right from the beach in front of us was great. The bar/restaurant had good food and a nice atmosphere and the service from everyone at the resort was great. Our room was older - just two clean, comfortable beds and a bathroom with shower. No TV, but the air conditioner was great and made for great sleeping. We also had a small refrigerator. The room was not by any means elegant, but it was comfortable enough and the location was great. We enjoyed watching the kids play on the old sailboat in the bay.

Nice location away from town, with good access to swimming, snorkling. Very personable, cheerful staff. Good breakfast (included) and lunch. Spectacular view across bay and out to ocean on west side of island. Easy walk to village and dock for boat transportation to other locations. Only one negative: loud music from town, some nights louder than others, disturbs the blissful quiet. Goes on too late and sometimes starts too early. Would prefer to hear the waves and wind in the trees.

The hotel arranged a taxi to pick me up directly from the airport. This was a nice surprise, as I had not made any prior arrangements with them for airport pickup. The hotel is at a quiet end of the West-End strip of shops and restaurants, but close enough to walk over for shopping, dining and water-based activities. The staff was very nice and made sure that I had what I needed. Each room has a hammock and I enjoyed the time I spent relaxing above the water's edge. The rooms are large and spacious, although sparsely furnished. They are built cabin-style, and are made of wood throughout. My only issue was that because of how the cabins are built, noise transfers and you do hear the movement of your neighbours, in all directions. My downstairs neighbours had his ceiling fan on and I seemed as if my room fan was on. The hotel is great value for money, with a proper breakfast included in the room rate. I enjoyed my vacation and would recommend this hotel.
