Arrived on a Saturday night and there was a very lively crowd, live music, and food. I was really just looking for a place to rest when booking here and it was good for that. Everything quited down by around 10:30-11. You can hear everything outside of the room so much as a cough down stairs. There was no secondary lock on the door. The furniture and bedding was slightly stained. The hot water takes about 5 minutes to get to the room. There is no breakfast here and it was difficult to find a breakfast spot in the area. All of that said this is a good place to stay for someone whos looking to dance, drink and crash. Not ideal for a great nights rest.

A historic property in a rural community. Thankfully, the restaurant is excellent, not only for the food, but as there is literally NO other option in town, less a tiny deli/pizzeria and prepackaged food from a nearby grocery and a gas station. The room was spacious, and the bath had been updated. Overall, very satisfactory.

As advertised, this is a unique, quirky inn. However, it was more “rustic” than pictured - small, almost unfinished bathroom, and very thin walls. Biggest complaint is that listing advertised that it had bar/cafe/restaurant. None of these were open and neither was any of the two or three options in this tiny town. We contacted the owner and he suggested we drive 10 miles down the road to a small pub. It was fortunately open, however out of several items as they were nearing the end of the season. We had driven all day and had looked forward to a nice dinner. Inn is decent if you are not expecting much. Did not earn the rating you gave it.

Charming building. Room was very spacious and clean.while the building was one of the oldest in the town, the bathroom was completely modern and I loved it!

You can hear everything through the walls. Hair stuck in the towels and shower. Let owners know. The towels appeared clean but still.. hair. No other linens available in room. No clean towels offered.

This place is so cool! Listening to Jethro Tull’s greatest hits on the record player and reading brings me back to child hood cottage days! Super easy to find and very cool decor! Love it!

It was a great place to stay. We had a huge room. Our dogs were comfortable. The food in the restaurant below was exceptional. This is no Holiday Inn but staying a quaint historical old fashion Inn it is.

Really lovely spot to stay if you're looking for a more affordable Lake Placid option! Nice mattress and pillows, big spacious bathroom, only a window unit for AC though so be prepared, it was very hot when we stayed. Responsive staff too.

The owners have done a nice job of renovation this unique inn. It is funky, clean, and comfortable. I loved the extra sitting room/porch. The restaurant and bar downstairs were convenient but not noisy.

I stayed at the Deer's Head Inn during a weekend of enjoying the World University Winter Games in Lake Placid. The price was good for an inn near Lake Placid. The room was very clean, the bed was reasonably comfortable, and the shower worked well, but it was more spartan than the room shown in the picture. The extra touches like the herbal soaps and coffeemakers were nice. The Inn has an interesting atmosphere, like a mix of Germany and Woodstock. The lack of places to get breakfast in Elizabethtown is a bit of a problem, but the diners in Keene Valley and wide variety of restaurants in Lake Placid are only 15-20 minutes away. The dinner menu at the Inn looked good, but I had dinner in Lake Placid that night. I would consider staying at the Deer's Head Inn again when I travel to the Lake Placid area on my own, and maybe enjoy the books and LP records next time.

The room was so beautiful and clean. Having a record player in the room was really fun and the art through out the inn was also great. Check in was super easy and accommodating to us showing up a little early. We would definitely come to stay and to try the restaurant.

Stayed here overnight and had a delightful time. The room was comfy, clean, and airy. The rooms come with record players and vinyl albums of all sorts. There are bookcases in the hall and the rooms; guests are invited to take books home with them if they like. The staff was helpful and kind. We ate dinner there; it was excellent!

Very clean. Staff was accommodating. Wi-Fi was slow to none. Access to breakfast was none so go prepared. The building had a lot of character. We would go back when traveling through.

Really enjoyed going back in time with this stay. Listened to records all evening while exploring the book shelves. We only wish the restaurant was open. Highly recommend this unique historical inn if in the area.

The restaurant downstairs was convenient. The room was a little disappointing…sheets were ripped, towels had holes in them, someone else’s socks under the bed. For the price we paid I expected more.

This is a unique historical property. What a Gem! We were drawn immediately to the bookshelf in our room with an excellent selection of books I could spend years reading. There is a diverse record collection -- Loretta Lynn, Paul McCartney, Kitty Wells, Four Tops, Cat Stevens and many more. And yes, there was a turntable with speakers in our room. The sitting room downstairs was open and also filled with books and records. We dined at the restaurant -- great food in a beautiful setting. What fun to sit on the porch at sunset. Thank you to the owner and manager for their kindness. We feel very lucky we could stay at Deer's Head and we hope to stay there again someday.

Property is well maintained, clean, and quaint. The history of the property is shared on an information sheet in the room. The bed, linens & pillows were amazingly comfortable. Owner provided prompt reply to a few minor maintenance issues they probably would not have been alerted to unless they use the room. It was quiet and comfortable. The restaurant was not open due to scheduled & posted cleaning. I am unable to speak to quality of food & noise levels during restaurant hours. Highly recommended.

Hi everybody, be very careful with this establishment! Do not pay in advance for your stay!
I have prepaid my 4 night stay at this place in January. I never receive code to access the hotel. There were two phone numbers provided at the gate in case of emergency however both went to an answering machine, so I finished up in the middle of the night without any accommodation. I had to find an alternative stay. When requesting a refund the owner initially agreed to refund 3 nights. After several follow ups I was told no refund would be provided. Very dishonest. :-(
