This place is the very definition of a hidden gem. Amongst a quiet hilltop village, the Villa Old Castle can be tricky to find, but once there we have never had accomodation or hospitality like this. Phillip and his family are truly the most hospitable, generous, and warm hosts imaginable. Likewise, Robbie the half Aussie family member that was our interpreter/guide was a great help and all round good egg. Despite being away from large towns and tourist areas, the villa is ideally situated - 10 mins to shops, 20 mins to Kotor/Tivat, and a short drive to the main highway that traverses the small but perfectly formed country of Montenegro. The property is stunning, a stone built period piece with all the modern amenities you could wish for. The striking uplit building has a crystal clear pool, a traditional wood fired grill, and a character filled ground floor restaurant that feels more ski lodge than holiday apartment. The apartment was spacious, clean, with all the mod cons you could want to self-cater easily. The balcony views of Tivat, Kotor Bay, and the mountains sealed the deal for us. However....you should eat here at least once. My wife and I are discerning foodies, and this was the best food we ate in Montenegro. Home reared meat on the wood fired grill, huge veggie pizzas, and incredible home grown figs, veg, brandies, grappa..The quality and quantity of this food and drink must be sampled. We cannot reccomend the Old Castle enough. Thank you! Martin+Susannah

The castle was truly beautiful and a mix of completely renovated and a museum of relics. The owners are such gracious hosts that you fee more like a visitor than a renter. Our family was so comfortable and would have enjoyed a longer respite there. It would be a great family or group retreat with nice gathering areas (huge dining area, love terrace with a pool. This is not an easy place to find after sunset! A friendly neighbor who we asked for directions led us to the castle.
