Nice rooms with a lot of light.
It is on the very beautiful university campus. Very beautiful area. But with the bus 1h to get to downtown. Nice place for exploring Vancouver by bike though.
This is a student home transformed into a hostel for the holiday time. The way to it should be better described.

Such a beautiful location, outside the city centre. It’s quiet and peaceful in the holidays. Good bus links into the city and facilities on site.
Nothing I disliked. It’s simple and basic but that’s what I expected. Shared bathrooms were clean and private.

Quiet location
Far from the downtown

Beaches are close by, within a 15 minute walk. Plenty of restaurants, and coffee shops within walking distance.
Basic, no frills. The bed wasn't made. There is a shared kitchen, but no silverware or dishes. Hard mattress. Laundry costs $5 for the laundry card and $10 minimum to use the card. One hour bus ride to downtown Vancouver.

Good basic facilities with shared bathroom. Clean, tidy, room set out well. The bed was comfortable. The Wifi was good and reliable. Close to a range facilities including dining room which served a good breakfast, lunch and dinner.
It was handy having a fridge and kettle in the shared kitchen, but I didn't have a cup. Next time i will travel with one.

Clean, quiet, comfortable and friendly.
Smells bad when I just arrived. But it is much better when I open the window. I strongly suggest that opening the window let more fresh air coming inside of the room instead of close it.

Everything. So long as you know that the facility are student dormitories, everything is awesome.

If you are looking for a budget friendly place to stay to visit Vancouver and discover the city, I recommend this place. c however, nothing fancy but functionable. The rooms are very basic. I liked the proximity of this place to bus exchange. The walking to the hostel crossing the UBC campus is very enjoyable. The surrounding area is very calm and close to wrench beach and other hiking trails. I also liked that they provide towels in the room. Last there is a shared kitchen with a fridge where you can store some of your food, however I wish they had few bowls or plates that can be used and returned back.
The bed I found it to be very uncomfortable, but serve the purpose. The bathroom is functionable, but looks old. The only thing I didn't appreciate the most is you can hear everything if the people next room are talking loud, especially in the middle of the night.

Very safe, good bus connection, good value for money, launderette available!
Although it said everywhere that linen and towels will get changed on the 7th day of your stay this did not happen, no place to hang clothing to dry after washing them. As the rooms are carpeted it gets dirty quickly, no way to clean it.

University is expectantly safe and friendly as students and youth have that healthy onlook. Easily approachable for directions and information and competent with todays technology. Museums on campus a bonus MOA closed buy Beaty was a nice option.
Our 1st level tv in kitchen/lounge not working asked desk staff understandably not corrected that evening but still not fixed in following days stays.

Beyond your control, I didn't like that the printed maps, google maps, campus maps don't necessarily align or are up to date, due to all the construction (eg, sage bistro no longer exists, walter gage st is a construction zone). Also I knew Place Vanier but not that Pacific Spirit hostel is in fact in Place Vanier, neither does the taxi service so if that could be pointed out more clearly that would be helpful. Even my graduating son did not know where the hostel was but did know PV.

The location was excellent. I mean, on the Campus of The University of British Columbia. You can't get any better than that.
The rooms could be a little warmer. Asked for a heater but they didn't have any.

Good location, quiet, close to the descent to a beautiful beach
The bed creaked, the room is clean but old, no supermarket nearby.

The location is amazing, the nature around is wonderful. It's definitely worth to stay here.
Just the blanket was not perfectly clean and we were at the floor where was only men's washroom but we're two girls.

The room is part of the old student housing. -- a dorm room -- it was the situated on the UBC campus and it's very restful and quiet. the floor I was on seemed to only have a few people staying likely because this is the summer session. Results was that it was so quiet I had the best sleep in months. My permanent home is a block away from the fire department and so I hear sirens all the time.
It would have been nice to have a more full kitchen common area where we could have maybe cook something or there might have been a way to heat something up other than microwave. And there is walk up only no elevator so someone with a physical disability or other problem getting upstairs might have an issue. For me it was having too much luggage. Otherwise great place helpful people.

The hostel is in a park, with many beautyful trees, a botanical and japaneses garden close by ....
The beach is also near, many stairs leading to it.
It is an quite area in comparison to downtown Vancouver.
The room was very smelly.
The carpet has many dirty stains.
The room has different cupboards, the old ones have a bad smell.
I stayed almost 2 weeks in the hostel the room was not cleaned.
The fridge was overpacked with rotten and expired food.

Everything. Loud, not clean and old facilities. No ventilation of the room, bad smell. For 5 days room was not cleaned, no garbage pickup or towel change.

it’s in the beautiful campus of UBC. I loved walking around in the campus, trying cafes and seeing sports events of the students. the campus is right next to beach and nice trails where you can go for quick hikes.
it was really cold in the night. that was partially my fault that I packed very lightly but I bought a thick sweater after first night and still had to ask for 2 extra blankets to have a comfortable sleep.
