Comfortable villa with pool built into the jungle above the beach.
Aqua is built down the mountain to the water. My villa - which was 2 buildings (one bedroom/bath, one kitchen/dining) with a plunge pool between them. I entered the villa on a wooden deck at ground level and my pool and viewing deck was about 40 feet in the area making it very unique but private. It is in the jungle, so there are a lot of trees and leaves, but my pool was clean and easy to remove leaves. The beach cove is very scenic. The restaurant is casual, and the service is very friendly and attentive. The food is very good. I was there for NYE, and the menu was quite delicious and fun with a firepit, live band and fireworks. The area is remote, but there are day-time walkable beaches and restaurants. I took walks everyday and saw few people on the beaches - it is so peaceful and clean. The resort is well maintained and expanding - I'd love to visit again to see it!
The wifi was really bad in my villa, but I understand work is underway to resolve that.

Beautiful beach, but rooms not worth the money
Beautiful, private beach; able to see howler monkeys throughout the property; nice path to El Gigante beach and great views from room.
I wanted to love this place. The beach it’s connected to is really wonderful. The bungalows on the hill with a private pool seemed really special. However, the rooms and the hotel are not well maintained (dirty, dusty furniture, mattresses were terrible, bed blanket had holes as did beach towels, peeling wood, didn’t have water for half a day, sliding doors didn’t close properly so was hard to keep mosquitos out of the room). You also have to walk up many steep stairs to go from the beach to your room. It has so much potential, but unfortunately it does not deliver.

A cute idea but not terribly comfortable
The location of the property was decent, the feel of being in the jungle was great and the private pools next to the rooms was lovely. We also enjoyed seeing howler monkeys roaming the trees in the morning. The restaurant on the beach was fantastic, with very friendly staff and nice food, although quite a trek up and down a lot of stairs, which could be an issue for those not in the best of shape.
I have never slept in a more uncomfortable bed in my life other than when camping on the ground. the bed sagged in the centre so and dipped on the edges much my husband and I kept rolling either into each other or off the sides. in the morning we woke up so sore we could barely move properly. we checked the mattress and found that it was put on the bed upside down so the base of the bed (where the springs are closest) was at the top and the soft padded area (which would normally be on top) was on the bottom. we mentioned this at check out and the woman acted as if this was normal. I expect the mattress was losing it’s shape and structure when in the proper position and so they flipped it to try to get longer life out of it (though it made it insanely uncomfortable). As well, there was construction/renovation/repair going on at the time off our visit so we heard power sanders and saws and men yelling all day and well into the afternoon. I believe it began at 8am and didn’t end until 5 or 6, so hardly a relaxing vacation in a quiet, peaceful forest environment. Finally, the balcony we had felt very unsafe as several of the boards we walked on were rotting and broken or bowed under the weight of our bodies. We were afraid to spend any time on the balconies as we felt they may not support us. perhaps this is why certain cabins were being repaired.

Superb
Beautiful wood rooms on a hill leading to a lovely private beach! There was a lot of equipment and activities available on the beach and walking tours. It was excellent. Note, be prepared to walk up and down a significant hill to beach from rooms.
Water pressure was too low in shower and was temporarily off due to some issue.

Gorgeous, affordable, upscale - great for our honeymoon!
Gorgeous villa overlooking the ocean. Plunge pool was very cool and made us feel so fancy! Food was delicious and and fairy priced considering the somewhat remote location. Beautiful accommodation for our honeymoon. Couples massage was great and therapists were kind and professional.
The only (small) complaint we had was that our plunge pool wasn't cleaned during our stay until about 15 mins before we left on the last day. Was a bit dirty - but then again, you are in the jungle and leaves are constantly falling. Life could be worse!
