Blue Gill Lakehouse | Hot Tub, 5 Bedrooms
About this house rental
Full house rental, 5 bedroom (6 beds + 1 crib)/3 bathroom, hot tub, and central A/C! 1st floor patios and 2nd floor deck, fire-pit, lightning fast WiFi, short drive to town, wineries, Traverse City adventures! *ABOUT THE PROPERTY* If you are looking for a big and comfy house on the water in Traverse City, here it is! 160 ft of natural frontage on Spider Lake and 15 minutes from downtown Traverse City's shops, restaurants, beaches, and activities. The house has an open floor plan with two living areas overlooking our quiet cove, an ample yard for relaxing outdoors, and 5 bedrooms/3 full bathrooms to fit your entire group. And just in case some of your group want a little privacy: the first floor is a "mother-in-law" suite with two of the bedrooms, a living area opening onto the patio, a kitchenette, bathroom, and a separate entrance. A total of 2000 finished sq ft is all yours. All bedding - sheets, blankets, pillows plus bath towels are provided, but bring your beach towels and bath supplies. Please also bring crib sheets. *ABOUT SPIDER LAKE* Spider Lake is a 459 Acre All Sports Lake with big sections for water-skiing and tubing, small coves for fishing (like what's in front of our place!), and a couple islands and sandbars that are good for swimming. 'Fast boating' is allowed only between 11:00 am - 7: 30 pm, so the morning and evening are quiet. Many of the coves are no-wake zones all day and great for fishing any time. With lots of bays and coves, you can find somewhere new to explore every day! Use our kayaks & canoe to access the main part of the lake, or if you are interested in doing some swimming or water-sports on the lake, we recommend renting a boat and launching it from the public boat launch on the south side of the lake. PLEASE NOTE: Our cove has lots of vegetation and is not suitable for swimming. Fishing is great ... swimming not so much! *SWIMMING AT THE NEARBY BEACHES* If you don't have a boat and are looking to swim while you are here, there are plenty of beautiful beaches just a short drive away! We recommend West Bay Beach & Clinch Park - both in downtown Traverse City, as well as the State Park at Mitchell Creek (1265 US-31). All with beautiful, sandy beach and lots of restaurants nearby! *RELAXING WINE TOURS* Traverse City is known for its wineries! If you drive up Old Mission or Leelanau Peninsula, there are several wineries to stop by every few miles. Take your own car (& a designated driver!) and have a leisurely drive, OR book a private or join-in group tour! Many wine tour companies pick-up and drop-off at vacation rentals around the area - we recommend a few in our Welcome Book, which you'll find on the coffee table at check-in, or you can reach out to us before check-in to help plan your trip! *WINTER SPORTS* The Winter Sports VASA Singletrack includes more about 10 miles of groomed trails for snowshoeing, cross-country skiing, biking or running, and can be accessed just a few miles from the property. The Michigan DNR Designated Snowmobile Trails can also be accessed just a few miles from the home. *WELCOME TO TRAVERSE CITY!* If you have any questions at all about your stay with us, please reach out and we would be happy to help plan your trip to Traverse City! ------- We ask that you not smoke or have pets at the property. Full-house rental - the house is all yours during your stay. You'll be given a door code before check-in and a welcome packet of area information will be waiting for you! If you need anything during your stay, we are available to assist. Our cove has lots of vegetation and is not suitable for swimming, but there are a couple kayaks as well as a canoe at the home which you can take out on the main lake! If you are interested in beaches/swimming, Traverse City is known for its downtown beaches! We are about a 10-15 min drive from several public beaches, including West End Beach, Clinch Park, and Mitchell Creek State Park. If you are looking to rent a boat while you’re here, we recommend one-day-rentals where the rental company drops off and picks up at the launch. Because our cove has a narrow inlet and there’s a bit more vegetation, many rentals don’t allow you to dock here. One day rentals do allow you to explore more than one lake in the area! Torch Lake and Lake Leelanau are both great options to explore after a day on Spider Lake. We are also about a 20-30 minute drive from the many wineries of Old Mission Peninsula and Leelanau Peninsula! Wine tour companies can often pickup from the home as well. If you’d like some recommendations let us know! Grace McDonald Park is just down the road from our house. It is a 42 acre parcel with baseball field, tennis courts, basketball courts, a volleyball court, and horseshoe pits. It also has a pavilion area with picnic tables, a sledding hill, hiking trails, and playground equipment. It is open from dawn until dusk. Our home is within a short drive of downtown Traverse City where there are seasonal festivals including the National Cherry Festival, the Traverse City Film Festival, and more! We ask that you not smoke or have pets in our house.

Clean property on the water. Owners very quick to always respond to any concerns. I would just recommend that you put that there is a pull out couch, which makes the place big enough to sleep 12 and have the linens for the pull couch readily available otherwise this was a very nice affordable place to stay for a large group.

It was a great birthday weekend getaway with my friends! The home is spacious and very clean. It was an easy check-in and the hosts were responsive. All the beds were comfortable and the hot tub was amazing! We had kayaks and canoes available for use and a fire pit for s'mores in the evening. There wasn't a lot of water pressure in the showers, but the water stayed hot. This is a "must save" home for future vacations.

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay in the house, nestled off the beaten path and surrounded by other homes along the meandering lake. We fell for the mama duck and her little ones. We enjoyed the sunrises and sunsets. An easy car ride into Traverse City and along the lake inlets. Just a nice place to stay.

We had a wonderful stay at Blue Gill Lakehouse! We stayed for a week and had 9 people. The house accommodated our group very nicely. It was reasonably priced and had everything we needed. The feature we needed the most was 3 full bathrooms and 5 bedrooms and it really fit the bill. The hosts were super responsive to all our messages. This was very helpful before we got there because we messaged them constantly about all sorts of questions about the area and the house. They responded very quickly and recommended great area restaurants and things to do. We really enjoyed the new hot tub, fire pit and kayaks and all the new updates on the house. The house is close to Traverse City, the airport, the grocery store and a great farm stand (the ice cream there is amazing).Thank you hosts for a wonderful stay and great new memories for our family :)

Property was in a great location for us! Just minutes from the bowling alley. They large table was great for us to play games and cards each night. Plenty of beds and bathrooms for our group of 10! Can’t wait to get back up and stay again!

The home was beautiful. The kayaks and canoe were enjoyed by young and old. It was so relaxing to sit on the porch and look at the lake. Only one wish, added cushioning to the dining room chairs. Everything else was wonderful. Thank you. Linda.

Beth and Keegan's place is perfect for our needs. We have now stayed with them 3 times (missed the Covid year or it would have been 4). Our requirement is a place w/ great access to all things TC without being in town and their place fit the bill. Already looking forward to next year.

Easy to rent and communicate with owners. No problems at all, exactly what we expected and close to town. We had 5 adult couples, the only thing we would change would be the room with twin beds. Excellent home. Would certainly stay there again.

Cozy, quaint property
Property managers were quick and friendly when responding to messages. The property didn’t look exactly like it did in the photos, but it was still a cozy place to be. The water made it hard to fish and it wasn’t easy finding fishing spots in the area, even with the help of Google. Still would highly recommend for anyone just wanting to chill and hangout. Again, the property managers were great and very accommodating! Thank you!

Great stay on Spider Lake
Overall, we had a wonderful trip and stay at this property. The owners were very responsive to any issues we had, and the 5 bedrooms and 3 full baths were a great find for the area. We enjoyed being right on a quiet cove with access to the larger portion of the lake. The kayaks and canoe were great to have as it was difficult to fish off the dock due to the amount of weeds. There was a large selection of board games which was fun to play a few of our nights. The driveways were easy to access and park two cars, and the large garage was great for storing our bikes.
A few things could be improved to make this a 5 star property. First the faucets in the upper and lower floors were old and super touchy so they would go from freezing to scalding by hardly moving them. These could use to be replaced. Although there were a good variety of appliances stocked in the kitchen (we loved the griddle!), there was a lack of larger pans and skillets that are necessary for making family meals. Two of the bedrooms did not have dressers or shelves which would have been nice to put our clothes since we stayed a full week. Also, there was a screen missing in one of the downstairs bedroom, and we definitely had the windows open on a few hot days. Finally, there wasn't a new sponge or any dish cloths (just kitchen towels). These are a few minor things, but would have made the property that much better!

The house was the perfect size, it was well-equipped, clean, the kids love the kayaks and canoes also the fire pit. There were plenty of games both indoor and outdoor for family recreation. The House is close to every major attraction in the area, and had a great library of movies.

Three generation vacation
This house was great. 5 bedrooms allowed for young parents with two kids (2 year old & 3 week old). his parents, her parents, his sister and her husband to share the week and get to know the newborn. The bedrooms are on all three floors. And each floor has a full bathroom. Everything we needed was there. A crib, a pack and play, high chair, baby swing and the owners were extremely responsive to my questions. The kitchen had all the cooking equipment and plates and silverware for all of us. And a dishwasher! Close to Traverse City so you can use the public beaches, eat at special restaurants and visit the many area wineries and breweries. The cottage is less than an hour from Sleeping Bear.

Lovely home to stay
Really enjoyed staying at this home. Bedrooms, bathrooms, and rooms were a good size. We were able to fit our large family comfortably. Kitchen had everything needed to cook food.
A little bit of a drive to the city but it wasn't a hassle. Liked that it was quiet.
Excellent communication with the owner. Very fast and responsive.

Traverse City Vacation
Nice family home with three seperate levels with the necessary amenities to enjoy. We had seven people for three days and roomy and comfortable enough for all. Didn't have A/C, but we didn't need it.

Great location - great hosts
We stayed here for two nights with a group of 10 adults while participating in the King Vasa Festival of Races in February. Location is great for the Vasa trails as well as a night out in Traverse city. House was very clean and has a great layout for this many people in one place along with some nice updated features.
There was a small problem with some new tile in the downstairs bath that prevented the shower from being used, but the hosts were quick to respond and even provided a small refund for the inconvenience - something that wasn't necessary, but greatly appreciated. We will certainly stay her again in the future!

Overall great stay
The home was in a beautiful, quiet location, and it was clean and had everything we needed. We were greeted with a bottle of wine, which was very thoughtful! The only suggestion I have is that some of the beds could use some updating to be more comfortable.

Nice lake house close to everything
This home was a perfect base for us during our long weekend trip to Michigan. It’s so close to TC (about 15mins) and to torch lake (about 30mins), so it was central to everything we wanted to do this weekend. Beth and her husband were very helpful and answered all of our questions right away. Check out was a breeze as well. There were 4 couples in our group so having 3 bathrooms was so nice! Plenty of space to spread out for privacy, but also areas to all be together without feeling cramped. The beds were very comfortable; all 8 of us slept so good every night. Even though the house had no A/C (very common in northern Michigan) the house stayed at a perfect temp with the windows open. There was only one night that we even had to use the fans they provided. There were not very many towels and wash clothes or dish towels, so you may want to pack some of your own. There was a nicely stocked kitchen, including spices flour and oils which was so helpful! I would highly recommend this place to anyone traveling to the area and we look forward to visiting again! Thank you for sharing your home with us :)

Great place for the whole family!
We stayed for a week at this awesome vacation get away! The house was great not only for my kids but also my parents with minor mobility issues. There was even chocolate and wine greeting us when we arrived! Beth and Keegan were superb hosts and were prompt to respond if we needed something. I would definitely consider staying here again.

Perfect lake house for a large group!
We stayed here for 3 weeks during the Great Lakes Equestrian Festival and had a group of 6 girls and a couple of "barn" moms chaperoning the group. The bedroom layout is perfect and with a bath on each floor, the girls were never over crowded. The home is well appointed, very clean and the view is beautiful. We grilled out on the patio several times, lit the fire pit and had s'mores, the girls paddled the small boat out on the lake, and everyone had a really wonderful time at this home. Beth was very attentive to our needs and answered any questions we had promptly. There was adequate parking for multiple cars and we were about 15-20 minutes from anything we wanted to do ! We VRBO a lot and I highly recommend this property. Thanks Beth and Keegan for a wonderful experience on our first trip to Michigan!
