Being a Thursday the hotel is relatively quiet but that’s not the hotels fault and I’m here for 3 days but only been here for a couple of hours, better reviewing after I check out but I’ve given the star ratings based on the hotel quality

A well appointed place in an idyllic setting, comfortable rooms, great restaurant.

Great stay with my husband and 2 kids aged 13 and 9. We used the pool which isn’t very big but they enjoyed it’s we got to use the sauna and jacuzzi. The rooms was spacious and very comfortable and clean. We ate at the prego restaurant for tea and everyone enjoyed what they had. We played pool and darts in the anchor bar on the evening which was great for the kids. We also had breakfast which the hot food was very nice, we didn’t go until after 9 so not sure if it’s better earlier on but they didn’t refill any of the fruit or pastries whilst we were there which was disappointing as there was only a small selection left when we arrived. Overall a great stay and nice to go some where family friendly.

Hotel was lovely. Very clean and comfortable. However the fitness centre/swimming pool let it down. The jacuzzi was cold and not much in the way of loungers in pool area. There was chips in wood and paint works and pool area itself was cold. This was completely at odds with the hotel.

its a struggle to find a family room anywhere for £110 per night. TBH we just wanted to make the most o the good weather and takes the kids out on a decent ramble and have somewhere to put our heads down. family room here was £130 WITH breakfast thrown in and had the added bonus of a pool and gym. The entire place was i great condition and felt worth more money than we paid. We booked a table for the early bird menu such good value for 3 courses and bottle of house plonk thrown in that it was still a brilliant deal to pay the £8 supp for the steak, which was perfectly done and tasted right out of a steak house rather than a hotel. As it was easter weekend, there were two cadburys easter eggs in the room for the kids, coffee machine with a really good selection of pods for once. They staff put out chocolate eggs for an egg hunt around the grounds on the sunday. there was also archery and a shooting range going onfor the kids (unsure wether this was something seperate to the hotel) staff were all friendly, helpful and polite. room was spotless and well sound proofed. The prices for drink were high but arnt they everywhere? The cottages all looked really good from what we saw but obviously they cost a lot more.

Very helpful & professional staff dealing with our booking & stay to our satisfaction. Leisure club very clean & tidy along with our bedroom, plus the hotel.

Fantastic staff at this spotlessly clean hotel. Great Sunday lunch.

Stayed in Rowan Cottage for 2 nights for our daughter’s wedding and it was really lovely. Great views, very warm hot tub and fully kitted out kitchen with everything you would need for a stay. Only downside was the very poor shower - no pressure at all and lack of upstairs loo as well as no dressing tables in any bedrooms. But we had a great time and the hotel is also lovely with very clean rooms for other guests plus a great swimming pool. Will definitely be back for a stay.

I’ve stayed here dozens of times over many years, I believe that currently the hotel is in the best shape it’s ever been, apart from the old original windows.
Special mention to the chef who has does a great job.

We had a bad start arrived 2.50 the paperwork did state check in 3pm asked to sit and wait 10-15 mins given that we had travelled from Scotland. We were allocated a room at end of a corridor next door to a boiler room this was quite noisy. We went back to reception to say we live in the country and not used to the noise we seen another receptionist and was given an upgrade of another room which was lovely do not accept room 126 if you want peace and quiet .

Fantastic service by all staff, best customer service we’ve experienced in a long time - especially George and Head Chef. Beautiful location, very comfortable room, great stay.

We just stayed fir a night on our way home from holiday to see family. The hotel itself looks stunning, with great views all round and lovely decor.
As you enter the driveway, the signing is non existent, so trying to find reception was a bit of a nightmare. Then when we got there, there was only one receptionist dealing with someone from a wedding part so had to wait for quite a while to be checked in.
Our room was lively, very plush with a gazillion pillows on the beds! Lovely added touches with the coffee machine and sundries. Wouldve liked hooks on the back of the bathroom door to hang towels as there was nowhere to put them to dry.
Disappointed to be woken early the next morning by next door having breakfast delivered and the employee delivering it saying very loudly that it was room service. This was around 6am.
The pool was nice, although neither of the jacuzzis was working and its starting to look like it needs a refresh. There are bags for wet swimwear but a more sustainable solution might be to have a spinner.
Breakfast was ok. It was self serve except for hot drinks. The eggs were as you'd expect under a heat lamp so would be nice to be able to order fresh eggs. Good selection of pastries.
Check out was again a bit slow as there was only one person on. During these busier times, id expect them to have additional resource available to not keep people wairing too long.
Overall a nice stay but a few things for the venue to improve.

Three night stay was very pleasant as usual,,rooms nice and clean...good selection of tea,,coffee,, chocolate etc...
Nice bar food and top notch lagers..and nice relaxing surroundings...the breakfast is really good,,,only complaint I would have is we don't like the sausage,,( to spicy for us for breakfast )...so possible look at an alternative plain one as well...but everything else is fab....The leisure centre pool is getting tired,,and lacks some things,,steam room,, nice rainwater type,,shower,,jacuzzi is to small,,or needs another one added...
Plunge pool never has water in it...and sauna isn't hot enough...(so my wife says). But apart from that,, Derwent Manor is great

I've stayed in this hotel a few times previously through work and always enjoyed my stay here, I stayed here at the weeked with the family and they were really impressed. the staff are really helpful and friendly. We had an evening meal here which was nice, my only negative comment would be the food was cold which granted I should have mentioned at the time as they could have done something about it.
