My wife and I stayed one night in the Mercure Nancy Centre Place Stanislas on our way to Switzerland.
But let’s start with the good features. Its position close to the city centre makes it ideal for a city stopover. It’s just a short walk to Place Stanislas and all the restaurants and sights. The other great facility is the car parking: it has its own underground park right opposite the hotel side entrance. The rest was pretty poor. The feature that appalled my wife was that the toilet was in a room so small that it was impossible – and I do mean literally impossible – to sit on it and close the door! The hotel management must know this and yet they go on letting this room. That complacency is unforgivable.
Checkin was curious. It involved a long process conducted by a cheerful but apparently quite untrained person perched on the end of a table with a laptop. How come? The Mercure have a professional reservation system so what was this chap using? He also had a queue of annoyed people waiting to check in behind me. Eventually he walked me across to the lift and configured my room key using a gadget on the wall at the foot of the stairs. Crazy!
The breakfast restaurant is too small for the capacity of the hotel. The choice was fine but It soon filled up and although two people were busy replenishing the servery, no one was on hand to supervise the situation.
It seems there’s something very odd going on at this Mercure. We cancelled our return stopover

Checking in was special, nou counter just a bar. A very nice girl with a laptop. Getting to the room on the first floor we took the very small elevator, it barely fit 2 people with our luggage. The room was really small and was in need for an update, at times we could hear the traffic, we saw some spider cob webs at the top of the curtains, some mysterious hairs in the bathroom sink, water damage at the bathroom door. But the bed was fine, slept like a rose. Breakfast was fine but there was much limited room to properly sit and eat it, everything was so crammed up to eachother, the gentleman next to me was so close, we almost touched elbows. But there wasn’t many alternatives to sit. We tried sitting at a lounge but these couches were much lower then the table, what were they thinking. Would I stay here again? No probably not. Was it terrible? For just 1 night is more then alright, the people were really nice, and everything was walking distance, even though they should update the picture of the square on their website, because it doesn’t look like that anymore. Overal I probably wouldn’t come here anymore, but it was alright for just one time.

A nice hotel downtown Nancy. A typical MERCURE hotel but with an amazingly friendly staff from reception over to the manager and the cleaning staff.

A nice hotel with friendly staff, was there in March 2023. I should point out that the hotel is NOT located on the Place Stanislas, unlike what is suggested by the hotel's ads, but rather a few blocks away.

Half way house to Belgium, always comfortable and convenient

Very good location for exploring Nancy. Breakfast was good. Everywhere looked clean.
Room 217 not really suitable for more than 1 person. The en-suite toilet enclosure was so small it was virtually impossible to use. Be careful not to bang your head in separate shower room. Fridge door hits end of bed and so doesn’t open fully and you have to squeeze past one another to move around the room.
Check in was from 2pm but our friend’s room was not ready at 3.30p.m and the heating did not work in their room. However their room was spacious and comfortable with traditional en suite facilities.
We had already been told that the hotel was full so knew we could not move rooms. If we had been staying for longer than one night we would have checked out early if we could not have moved to a better room.
We had just spent 3 nights in 2 other Mercure hotels which had been good so very disappointed with our stay here.

Old and tired hotel. Very long check-in, although staff were friendly. Room was small, dated and not comfortable. Bathroom had hairs in bath. Very basic, definitely not 4-star standard. Price category is certainly not worth it.

Good location motorcycle parking rip off price 10 euro per night. On street parking and all other car parks in town free for mororcycles.
Short barrier usually indicates free parking for m/c but hotel insist you pay same as a car
4.0
Clean and large rooms. More details are required for parking a street address is needed for gps

Very good location

Small room, no place for a suitcase. Tiny bathroom.Erratic plumbing. Name is deceptive: it is not on the square, it is on a noisy narrow side street, difficult to get in or out of a car. Watch out for over-billing, they will charge for breakfast whether you take it or not. Good points: bottled water, slippers, madeleines.

Got an automatic reply in regards of the parking situation stating that the parking was available on site.
The problem was that they didn't bother to say that the parking is on a first come first serve base.
Long story short, they know the truth but they just wanna up-sale the rooms by stating that the hotel have parking spaces available.
Another problem we had was the fact that they charged taxes by deducting it without authorisation with the card provided for giving the deposit.
Overall the room was clean and tidy, i will maybe just point out the fact that they are using obsolete TV in the rooms but over than that everything was alright

Excellent in all ways. Asked for and received a lovely quiet room. Really handy for the centre of the town.

The location is great -- about 3 minutes walk from the Place Stanislas and a bunch of restaurants. The parking is on-site (well next door). The hotel includes double windows (like at an airport hotel) curling the street noise to a minimum. The only thing not so great was the buffet -- while it was a full buffet -- it did not include silverware or new plates!!! Ok, I understand that Covid is still around, but not providing clean plates is a little strange! Looking forward to stay at this hotel, but post-Covid!!!

Amazing stay, the location is very near to the Place Stanislas. The hotel is clean, neat and the bed is comfortable.

Excellent location for walking right out of the hotel doors into the main square.

A nice hotel with very serviceminded staff. Clean. Nice rooms. A great placement in the city, close to the Stanislas.
5.0
Perfect location, which at Christmas led to it being a nightmare to actually get there in traffic, but that’s not the hotels fault. The hotel parking was next door which was perfect, and not too expensive by Euro city standards. All staff were very nice and the room had everything we needed.
