The employees were wonderful to deal with, and the room large and comfortable. Had breakfast on site one day, good service and a good value.

We stayed at the Dansford because we were attending a bridal shower there. A unique hotel with a marina and a ferry coming next door, a lovely view. The staff was very friendly a helpful.
The Dansford has a lot of character. It is old but not at all rundown. Our room was on the third floor with no elevator so you might want to ask for a first floor room if that will be a problem.

Beautiful very large room.

From the moment we checked in everything was perfect. The lady who checked us in was super sweet. It was our 39th wedding anniversary and our room was beautiful. The room was very clean and the view was amazing. The only thing that I was disappointed in was the restaurant only because the menu was so limited.

Do not stay here. Not children friendly at all. Not accommodating, very rude staff.

Bathroom was just surface clean lots of old dust everywhere, the restaurant bar was empty and still it wasn’t wiped down the entire night very sloppy but service was attentive

The property was beautiful and quiet for the off season. The free drink at the bar and the warm cookies in the lobby was a nice touch.

First off tried calling front desk multiple times and no one answers the phone.2 made reservations on line and dates were incorrect and needed to be addressed again no one answered phone. Finally talked to front desk and she had no authority to change reservation. The manager called and straightened it out said she would email confirmation and never did. Mind you I had told her I would be attending a funeral. So at that point I just arrived on Monday the 8th . Luckily the room was ready. Then I attended morning service for the funeral and come back to my room My wife and I were sitting ther and housekeeper just walks in No knock or anything. Are you kidding! Then as far as the condition of your establishment you should probably just burn it down and let a real Hotel rebuild it . I grew up in Setauket and lived in the area my whole life what a shame..

Lovely staff. Wish better option for continental breakfast and wish they had a gym. Perfect accommodations.

Beautiful part of the State, beautiful area, when I go to New York its for fun in the big city, but my wife is from Long Island and I have never seen where she grew up and she hasnt been back much in the past 35 years, so it was our 6th Anniversary and celebrated it with some of her old Friends and her Brother came from CT, which they have a ferry to and from, and its right by the Hotel, id definately go back, next time for a longer stay!!!

Lauren at the Front Desk was fantastic! I am looking forward to my next stay at the property.

Reported at 9am on Saturday that the shower drain was not draining well and water accumulated several inches in the base. Had to cut shower short to prevent overflow. Was assured it would be fixed. Was disappointed to find Sunday morning’s shower exactly the same because it had not been tended to.

Nice place decent noisy in the morning

Room was nice and large but very nondescript and lacking in sufficient lighting. Room was next to stairway which was load at six AM! Also, not very supportive of specil needs, no elevator which meant lots of stair climbing! Restaurant menu was overpriced especially the wine bottles!

I like Danfords mainly due to the location. I requested the same room that I stayed in last Spring because of the layout and the water view. However, during this stay we encountered a clogged shower, no heat in the room when we first entered (late evening), insufficient number of towels, and our bathroom lock was stuck. I was told that they didn't have any additional towels. I informed the staff of all of these issues and hope they are remedied.

Very nice place. A little pricey but beautiful views and convenient location!

This was a very hotel in Long Island City.
The rooms were very good.
I got a 2 bedroom suite.
Very clean & neat.
Lots of restaurants nearby
Nice scenic places nearby
Things I didn’t like-
- The room wasn’t available even 1 min before their given time. If Im not wrong the check in time was probably at 3pm or 4pm which is very late comparing to other hotels. We went there early and checked thrice if the room was ready but it wasn’t. The checkout time is as usual 10 or so 11am. Not sure how the room wasn’t ready until 3/4pm.

Location is great. Perfect setting. Large comfortable rooms. Thin walls so you can hear everything but if you leave the A/C fan on it muffled the sound.

Gorgeous property right on the sound!
Beautiful little Village all walkable with lots of shopping and dining

The people were so kind. Loved the hotel, loved the stay. At the on site restaurant, everyone was super kind! But. We waited a long time to get greeted (at the table) and served and 45 minutes to get entrees. Also there was no silverware until after the entrees arrived after I asked for them. A couple at a table behind us was seated and served their meal, all within our entire time there. They even finished their food before we got the credit card back. This was incredibly disappointing. I would be forgiving of this if I didn't see what happened with the couple seated behind us. The food was fantastic. Why was the service so selective?

Great location, facilities seem old, great staff

Very noisy place couldn’t sleep

Front desk showed lack of knowledge about their hotel policy. I was charged different amounts each day for incidental fees. I booked rooms through Expedia and paid for it but still this was included in the incidental fee.

I liked that the room was large.
I did not like how noisy it was outside on the streets and around the hotel. Also, there were no elevators to get to your room.
Restaurant Sunday morning was understaffed. Had to go elsewhere for breakfast.

It was very enjoyable and the staff was professional and diligent to make our stay fantastic

Beautiful hotel on the water. Great restaurant

The location is great but the buildings are old and are showing their age. The windows let in a LOT of noise and its not a restful nights sleep. The hotel room does not have a desk or a comfortable place to setup a laptop. The bathroom is the bigger eye sore as the tile is cracking and looking up at the ceiling you see the separation in the sheetrock. The headlamps didn't work in our room and one of the outlets didn't work. This hotel is a lot of money for the rooms to be this old. Asked for extra blankets for the kids, we never received them.Asked for towels after housekeeping didn't replace them and did not receive those either.
We dined at the restaurant for breakfast and the service was terrible. There were only 2 people other than my family in the dining room and 2 waitstaff. We did not get asked for drinks until about 15 minutes after being seated and the waiter was unable to answer questions about whether or not they served a cappuccino and if they had chocolate milk. I asked if they were out and he said he just doesn't know. We were never asked for refills on drinks and after taking 25 minutes for our french toast, the food was served cold. I would not stay here again based off of how expensive it was, the state of the age of the hotel rooms and the dining experience

Property was beautiful. Asked for a room with a porch and our porch backed up onto a staircase. No good.

The hotel was very close to the harbor with gorgeous water views

Great weekend getaway on the water. Wonderful band on the pier.

While the location is great and Ferryman’s Grill is good, I would not stay here again. The noise from people above walking around was annoying. They must have had small children that they let run around the room. No elevator so be prepared to carry your luggage up a few flights of stairs depending on the building you are in. Parking is not guaranteed either so depending on the time of day May have to wait for convenient parking. Not worth the price.

Lovely little spot.

Moldy carpet. Wobbly fixtures. Falling tiles. Rude and incompetent receptionist.
For this price, more was expected and none received.

Overnight stay, My room had ants all over the bathroom, including the shower and a leaking faucet that we remedied by putting the trash pail under the sink to catch the water.
Other than that, Port Jeff is beautiful area with lots of things to do.

When traveling with a family , it was hard having stairs only , especially with stroller as well as shower with no bath tub . The shower didn’t seem very clean and outdated We made it work since the location of the hotel is amazing and convenient! Best suited for couples rather than family with toddler age
5.0
Beautiful location in a fun summer town
