I wanted to love this place! There were a few things that I was disappointed in: Our room's wallpaper was all torn which really took away from the vintage condition and the smoke alarm was dated 2020. Parking is very difficult. There are only six spaces in their parking lot and then you have to just find a place on the street and one that allows you to stay overnight. They charged us a $19 fee for evening wine (we don't drink) and for a breakfast that the only option was a yogurt parfait (we don't like yogurt). Won't stay again.

It was ok…the hotel is cute. The room was so-so. Couch was advertised as a sofa bed, but it was more of a futon ad leather so not comfy. The room was extremely loud. You could hear the other guests in their rooms and lots of street noise.

It is a very good experience. Like the closeness to the beach. The restaurants they recommended are good, too.

Enjoyed our stay here. The hotel is an old Victorian, but has its charm. And its location is excellent. 3 minutes walk to the shore and the coastal trail and the heart of Pacific Grove. Front desk staff, especially Daniel, was friendly and helpful.

It was really nice to finally stay! It was on my list and did not disappoint. Very charming and easy walking distance to Pacific Grove. Greek yougurt parfait was delicious for quick morning.

My recent stay at this hotel left much to be desired. The room was uncomfortably congested, the bathroom was not clean, and to top it off, the hotel was overpriced for the quality of accommodations provided. Overall, I cannot recommend this hotel due to its cramped conditions, lack of cleanliness, and poor value for the cost.

Upon checkin we were told we’d be given a smaller room since the room we’d booked had a cracked tv screen from previous guest. We had prepaid so it’s unclear what type of rebate we will get - front desk staff very uninformed. Still haven’t received an email receipt from three days ago. We were offered a bottle of wine.
Staff unhelpful in general. At “continental” breakfast we had to ask for a breakfast yogurt parfait. Pastries were stale. Had to ask for more juice glasses.
Stayed here twenty years ago. Impressed with upkeep of property but not the staff.
Can’t beat the location - walkable to all.

We had a wonderfull stay. Friendly and helpfull staff and a good ambiance. So Nice to sit in the lobby in the afternoon and in the early evening with a glas of wine.

Place is beautiful, teeming with history. Staff was very friendly. Windows were a bit dated, so I can feel a draft at night. And definitely haunted. But friendly ghosts, so nothing to fear.

Our 2024 stay was nothing at all like our pleasant stay in 2021. Possibly reflecting changes in management.
Our cottage’s shower water and the bedroom had a sewage-like odor.
Check-in is unreasonably late at 4 p.m., and parking is limited.

Hotel is charming. Loved the cottage! Stayed with two granddaughters and they loved it. Lovely patio. Very quiet. The one main negative was the reception clerk who was not sociable at all. Didn't greet us nor particularly make us feel welcome. There was no parking available on site (only 5 spaces total) and when we arrived there was a large party nearby and there was no street parking for at least four blocks in all directions. The clerk didn't seem to care.

It is a quaint Victorian house. The neighborhood is good. The staff are very friendly and helpful. I love the fireplace in the evening!

The staff was not friendly or welcoming at every opportunity they had to engage with us as guests. It felt like our presence was bothersome to them. What was worse was that they were slightly polite to others, so their lack of basic hospitality felt both knowing and targeted. Given the accommodations are a bit tired, the least they could do would be to shine in the service department, right?? Major fail and left an unfortunate distaste for my memories of my weekend stay because of their lack of care for basic hospitality. Oh, and it’s way past the time to take down the holiday decor and retire the dead poinsettias given February is only a handful of days away.

Great staff and friendly check-in. Comfortable bed and hot water in the room. Clean rooms and tidy facility. Complementary champagne is great! Rooms agains the road may experience some traffic noise at night when trying to sleep. Within walking distance of great restaurants!

The staff were very helpful and pleasant. There was a TV and a fireplace area in the lobby. That was very comfortable to sit around with other people. The house was pretty quiet and felt pretty homey. There were great restaurants around the area and of course, being in Monterey is just beautiful.

We were not planning to stay at the Centrella Hotel as our trip from LA to SF was all “off the cuff” (unplanned) and as we were not planning to over night at Monterey we would not of had the extreme pleasure of staying at the Centrella. We arrived late at night and were greeted with a very nice warm smile and collected our key to a beautiful room/suite. The bed was soo comfortable after a long day of driving and sightseeing. The only thing that I could possibly think of that needs improvement is the plumbing as the hot water needed time to travel through the old pipes. That said it adds to the charm of an old lady that has been around since 1892. We will stay here again if in Monterey.

When checking in, did not know we had to pay for additional fee for booking with a third party. The room was very cold did not know how to use the fireplace because there was no heater to turn on. The bed couch was very uncomfortable.

Overall a good stay. The staff is great, the garden is wonderfully soothing and the hotel is historic in a great part of Pacific Grove. Wine and cookies was a nice touch. The carpet was tired in places and our room’s windows didn’t all shut, which made it louder on the street side. Still worth the stay but there were a few issues.

Quiet property with a nice staff. lovely small continental breakfast in the morning, wine and cookies in the early evening.
Its in a central location in Pacific Grove. Its easy to walk to the butterfly sanctuary, nearby restaurants, lovers point, and about a 30 minute stroll down the coastal pathway to Cannery Row and other monterey attractions, which is one of the most scenic walks ever!
We've stayed here a few times, will stay again!

Super clean, excellent. They ask for 20$ property fee. Heads up on this.

It is a very cute place to stay. The walls are not very soundproof, and I could hear people having conversations at two in the morning. There is no sign telling people to please be quiet after a certain hour, and you can hear just about everything they’re saying. In some places, the place needs a little bit of TLC, but for the most part, it was a good stay there. You could have a free glass of wine at night, and they give you a free cookies as well.

Loved wine & cookies, but they only had cookies 1 out of 3 nights we were there... would like variety for breakfast, enjoyed yogurt & fruit, did not care for hard pastries.

Really nice vintage hotel close to downtown Pacific Grove and easy walking distance to Lover’s Point and the Monterey Bay. Only complaint was that water temperature in the shower tended to fluctuate a bit if you wait until mid-morning to shower.

An adorable historic bed and breakfast. We loved that we could walk to the ocean for a bit and felt very safe. The sweet 1904 cottages were so fun to see, too. Breakfast was a nice variety of pastries. Great location. We would stay there again.

It was nice, smallest room I’ve ever rented. Slightly bigger than a prison cell. No movie networks like HBO available. Volume is out on some channels. Not a smart TV. Breakfast that was advertised was yogurt, danishes, coffee and orange juice and should not be listed as breakfast, maybe snacks.

The place has unique design and environment, so peaceful and cozy. We will be visiting again sometime soon.
