Step out onto the front porch and inhale the cool mountain air, then embark on a hike at one of the nearby trails (Diamond Notch is famous) or simply take a stroll through the surrounding wooded area. A 10 minute drive will deliver you to the center of Phoenicia town, where some of the Catskills’ finest restaurants, boutiques and art galleries coexist unpretentiously. Make sure to grab breakfast at the historic Phoenicia Diner, a local favorite for over half a century. A 20 minute car ride takes you to the numerous artistic and cultural attractions of Woodstock, the ski slopes of Hunter Mountain, the horse show grounds of HITS or breathtaking Kaaterskill Falls. Getting Around: Bringing or renting a car is highly recommended as Uber, Lyft and Taxi service in the area can be extremely limited. Four-wheel drive is encouraged in the winter months for safety on potentially slick and snowy roads.
