Hotel/Pub very nice - staff super friendly. Would stay again when in Harpenden for sure.
That said
Only issues I had - Parking. Harpenden in general is awful and there isn't much in the way of long term parking near the hotel that I could find.
Also when I checked in - I hadn't realised I paid vis Hotes.com and ended up paying again at the hotel - still trying to sort out but that is more down to me keep missing the manager - they have been helpful.

always a good place to stay convenient to the town centre and all surrounds.

Nice room
Breakfast option would be good

Staff were nice, room was ok, but i was at the front of the building with a very busy road, noisy all night with single pane glass windows. Also don't plan on eating on a Monday, they don't do food then.

We had a great stay! Hosts are kind and the room was very nice! Thank you!

The room was beautiful with a comfortable bed and huge bath. Staff kindly let me check in early as I was going to a local function. The pub itself looked very nice as well.
My room looked out over the garden and it was a summer evening so the staff told me it might be a little noisy until closing time. But I didn't find it noisy and was then very quiet during the night.
A very nice place to stay but quite expensive.

Needed a shower after a long day of hiking only to find out the room had no hot water. There was no telephone in the room so went back down to report the issue. The manager came up to check and confirmed no hot water in all the rooms but all should be ok in 20 minutes. That never happened. Ended up having a cold shower. Resulted to boiling water 5 kettle of water the next morning as a makeshift. Not pleased with the manager’s attitude either. Will definitely not use again.
If you must use the hotel ask for room at the back. Street side noisy with traffic and people leaving the pub.

The bedrooms were well decorated and comfortable. The staff were all very friendly and efficient, and the manager/owner was very accommodating to our groups requests. Only downside is no car park, but you can park for free a couple of mins walk away and wasn't really an issue for us

The noise in this hotel is horrendous it goes on til 1am slightly toned down between 12-1am had the tv on loud but could still be heard over that had to buy earplugs but i could still hear the noise from below and it starts again at 11am when the pub opens. If you like a cuppa take your own only 1 teabag and 1 sachet of coffee each and the milk is in a fridge down the hallway which is very inconvenient. It is a lovely room and comfy bed and good location for town but unfortunately the noise far outways all of this. At £110 per night and NO breakfast not value for money.

Fitted well for a short stay in the town.

I booked 3 nights here, I come to this town regularly as my son lives locally. This is the nearest place with accommodation to where he lives so was looking forward to the three night stay. It was most definitely NOT worth the £120 a night. No parking and no breakfast included in that.
The first room I was given was dirty, cobwebs everywhere, cup rings still on the bedside table, dirty floor in the bathroom, black mould on the windows and really dirty curtains at the window, so I went to see the staff, thankfully they moved me and the young lady was lovely about it. I definitely expected more for the price. I moved to another room, it was better, beautifully put together, with a bath in the bedroom, but not great. I could see that a lot of effort has been put into the fixtures and fittings in these rooms but it’s sadly lacking some major TLC. It could be amazing.
I only stayed for two nights not the three that I’d paid for, I just left, I didn’t want to stay another night.
The music noise from the pub below is quite loud too, (but it was turned off at 11pm). I would consider that if you plan to stay here. My stay was midweek in January so cannot imagine the weekend in the summer. I had booked to stay here again in April, this has now been cancelled. I will go back to where I have stayed before, 3 miles out of town but guaranteed to be clean.

Superb room with great bed and sheets. Bar and restaurant onsite is superb and a huge plus.
Staff are super friendly and accommodating.
FYI there are no taxis waiting if u arrive by rail so plan for that.

The parking status was not clear. There is no onsite parking and I don’t think you can say parking is included if you are having to use a public car park a few minutes walk away. Apart from the parking it was a decent property for one night.

Quite noisy as room overlooked marquee and music though quite a civilised gathering and it looked pretty with lights and flowers and cocktails! Inn has been well renovated with quirky fun interiors. It is very comfortable and very clean. Would definitely stay again.

Great room service, no breakfast, room was a bit cold, but the bed was amazing

Nice pub with modern, well furnished rooms. A lot of noise from the busy road in the front facing rooms.
Fire alarm (set off by someone's steamy shower we subsequently discovered) went off at 6am and was still going when the fire engine arrived almost an hour later. No sign of a staff member during this period.

Clean tidy room with a very comfortable bed. Very good town centre location. I was a bit surprised that breakfast is not provided (a very good cafe is suggested 5 yards from the hotel) but I may have missed reference to this in the booking information.

We stayed here for 2 nights and had a lovely time. Leah who ran the B&B was super helpful, and gave us yummy breakfasts every morning which set us up for the day. In a beautiful location pretty much on Hadrian's Wall there's plenty of things to do locally - walks and running routes straight out the front door.

The room was lovely, clean and comfortable. The staff were friendly and efficient, accommodated us considering they were very busy and fully booked! Loved it and will return if we're going that way

This property and the staff were very nice. The noise from the bar did not bother us. However the air conditioning unit at the top of the stairs was very noisy and was on all night which did not make sleeping easy.

Lovely bar -restaurant, friendly staff (girls not boys) single glazed rooms a little noise , limited parking

Our stay was very pleasant, the rooms are in a self contained area immediately next door to the pub so there is no direct access. Check in is at the bar. The room was modern, clean and comfortable with good towels and toiletries plus the usual tea and coffee provision. Despite being on a busy High Street the room was very quiet as it was at the back overlooking the churchyard. There is free parking in the rear yard, a bonus in this busy town. I didn’t manage to work out the WiFi, ask at the bar when you check in. The recommended breakfast cafe looked good but we were going to friends so didn’t go there. The pub is well positioned in the middle of the High Street so an excellent and varied selection of shops and restaurants are minutes away. A minor niggle was the kettle which didn’t reach boiling point for tea, I couldn’t find anyone to tell before we left.

No electricity this morning therefore no coffee, no TV and no hairdryer.
Sheets and towels were lovely.

The staff were very helpful, however the overall presentation and cleanliness lets the place down. The Old Cock Inn is a wonderful historic building in a great central location, but the decor is tired; with ripped carpets and peeling paint, stained toilet pedestals and sinks. Just a little TLC would make all the difference.

We stayed here due to attending a nearby wedding. WiFi didn’t work. The room itself was fine, bathroom a bit tired and £90 for the room seemed a bit steep. Doesn’t include breakfast but there is a great cafe 2 doors down. Chap behind the bar that showed us to our room was nice and helpful.

Was perfect for where we wanted to be. On first look everything was great but carpets quite marked in both hallway and room, bathroom not as clean as it should have been. Served its purpose as somewhere to sleep.

Stayed at the Old Cock for a weekend meeting old friends. It is an old coaching inn, so a pub with rooms. The room was very pleasant and comfortable with a large bathroom en suite. Clean, tidy and comfortable. Staff were very hospitable and friendly. A great pub.

The Manager was very helpful and went beyond the call of duty to help us. would highly recommend.

A pleasant stay, noise-free, helpful staff. I was given immediate access to the room by the bar girl and could settle in early. Unfortunately breakfast was not provided, but a good café was two doors away. Monday, when I was there, was also a non-meals day in the inn, so I had to look elsewhere for dinner.
Water was hot, with good bath and shower facilities en suite; gel and shampoo provided.

Small room - no heat when we arrived.
No breakfast availability- not mentioned on their booking page.
