This hotel was fine for the price. Our room was surprisingly nicer than expected, and staff were helpful. But not having easier access to food/drink when the room had kitchenette features was difficult with kids. A microwave and fridge are only so helpful when there are no bowls, plates or cutlery. The restaurant/bar was only sporadically open, couldn’t be counted on.
Separately, though the pool was great, the whole property had a half-abandoned vibe to it. Made for a quiet, peaceful stay but you also wondered… why are there so few guests in high season?

Great stay. Short but sweet

Cassia Hill Resort is a beautiful place, clean and nice , but there were no tourists and restaurant was not open.
I spent 2 nights in January - everybody said is in the season, but place looked sad.
I understand they can’t keep the reataurant open for just 2 tourists, but at least we could have been informed for limited amenities.
If plan to accommodate in Cassia Hill definitely plan to have a rental car

I really liked the atmosphere of the property. It was a very beautiful relaxing place to stay. The lady at the front was kind and helpful.
The breakfast was good. The breakfast took about 45 minutes to be ready, so make sure to give plenty of time. I underestimated and had scheduled a nature tour and had to eat fast because my driver was waiting. Also one night the kitchen was closed so we had to eat somewhere else. But the restaraunt area was very nice.

So happy we chose Cassia Hill Resort! Our cabin was clean, quiet, comfortable. Beautiful grounds with a wide variety of plants, birds, and small animals. Excellent restaurant. Loved the infinity pool. Entire staff was friendly, professional, and fun. Thank you for a great time!

Being a world traveler would not recommend this at all. Eco friendly environments and rugged log cabins are ok. But be prepared for a cold water showers. We didnt not have any hot or warm water during our entire stay. They say one hot water heater supplies 4 cabins and you can imagine after coming back from a full day of tour and tired muscles. They cant fix and wont fix or change your cabins. Money wasted and sore experience
They also dont have their own restaurant either. U have to order from a subleased restaurant.

It was okay. Perhaps it was better at some point in the past. The staff wasn't great, and multiple times the kitchen just flat out said they didn't want to cook. Rooms were very clean, but didn't have a ton of amenities. The grounds were pretty though. Also, the wifi was absolutely awful. Not great when in a country where wifi is likely your only option. Would NOT stay here again.

Really quiet grounds and located just out of town making it easy to get in for meals, etc.

Beautiful location and amazing, very private, bungalow rooms on a beautiful rolling hilltop with an infinity edge pool. Fantastic staff. This was my second stay here and I'll be back.

This place is where you need to stay! Great infinity pool upgraded my room twice since I had to extend my stay while traveling to Tikal.
They are over the top above expectation friendly and had a bottle of wine for my wife which greatly appreciated.
This hotel is quite at night and on a nature botanic garden

The pool was lovely. The room was large and very nice. Pretty view. The tours they arranged for us were extremely fun and worthwhile.

This is a great location for someone venturing into Guatemala for the day. We were in Cabin 8 which was perfect for our family. Properties closer to reception look newer. Ask for a low number. The pool is nice after a hot day. There is not a lot of staff so expect to have to look for help at reception and breakfast. Ask if your breakfast is included in your stay. The breakfast is expensive for what is included. There is a grocery store less than 1/2 mile into town.

We booked on Expedia based on local friends recommendations.
Unfortunately we didn’t realize until after our 2 night stay was over that there are two parts to this resort. The part that our friends recommended which are new modern gorgeous villas And the old cabin section.
We stayed in cabins that were not very clean, very old, smelled bad, uncomfortable beds and the duvets on bed had spots and were not clean.
Being our first visit and from
Canada we did not want to complain and did our best to have a good time.
It was disappointing on the morning of checkout to take a different path and come across these new beautiful villas we could have stayed in. When I asked why they had not been offered as an option even after we requested a fridge which we thought we were getting based on our Expedia booking, we were told it was our own fault we didn’t ask.
How can you ask for something you don’t know is an available?
The staff was very professional and the property and pool lovely.
My point is not to complain as much as to advise others to book the villas unless you love old rustic buildings and enjoy camping. 😬

Cassia Hill was GORGEOUS. The buildings were lovely, the house was perfect. The outdoor shower attached to the bathroom was an incredible bonus. The grounds themselves were living gardens with wild iguanas on site and howler monkeys directly behind in the jungle/forest area next to the property. We had slow internet but they were quick to address and solve it. We arrived in the "rainy season" so slower season in July but it didn't rain. The restaurant was undergoing roof repair so wasn't in operation but we found a few very good restaurants nearby in San Ignacio. Very close to the Xunantunich Mayan ruins. The pool was awesome. The only not-so-awesome part is that it is near a major road so certain times during the day we could hear the car traffic. Throughout the town of San Ignacio they were burning trash pretty much constantly while we were there and the smell and air quality was really tough to get used to. Overall we enjoyed our stay and much appreciated the oasis and friendly faces that Cassia Hill provided for our family.

We loved Cassia Hill! There is a lovely pool, the location is perfect since it’s super close to town, but still quiet. The staff were all very friendly and helpful for giving us information and setting us up with our excursions.

Location was outside of town. We had a car so it was convenient for us. The grounds were spacious and well kept. Beautiful pool! The beds were comfortable. The staff was very gracious especially the restaurant manager. He knocked on our door on two evenings to make sure that we had eaten before he closed for the night. SO impressive! My only "complaints" were that there weren't any blankets on the beds or in the empty cabinet (It was cold at night!) and we had issues with the hot water. I would definitely stay there again.

we had a wonderful stay at Cassia Hill Resort. two beautiful cabana rooms. restful and beautiful. Hotel staff wonderful booking tours and covid testing. we ate at the restaurant for breakfast and they always remembered our preferences. also helpful making dinner recommendations. hotel is located right on the main road and about 2 miles from town. a perfect distancefor quiet and assessability. one recommendation..hotel cabana numbers and paths could be better illuminated at night. walking paths could be difficult for those with mobility issues.

This is a property with a very pleasant setting. We stayed in a cabana that was cute, clean and neat. All of the staff were extremely helpful and friendly. A special shout out goes to Sergio and Luigi in the restaurant/bar area. Their attention to making our stay as pleasurable as possible was truly commendable.
The only negative is that the property is located on a hill which provides a wonderful view but can be trying for anyone with physical challenges.

Very great stay with my family of 9. Breakfast and dinner was good. Pool was great. AC really cools the rooms. Great stay for the price.

Our stay was amazing! Everything was perfect, from the onsite security guard (thanks!) to the service, to the food. All our requests were promptly taken care of with a smile. I truly felt like a VIP staying here. Highly recommend and hopefully, I will be staying here again in the future!

Proximity to the city was fantastic if your planning to spend a night or two in the city. You really don't want to stay in the city as its not a typical old city with a lot of things to do or see. Cabin at the hotel was good. Had all the basic services you need and AC! Otherwise, the property needs some love and rooms need a lot of updating.

I love how the Bungalows are far enough from each other where it makes your space a lot more private than what it really is. This place is really close to tourist attractions.
The service are excellent here, this place won’t disappoint you.

Amazing three days, right in the middle of the Mayan cultural heritage area. Beautifully sited property with a wonderful pool and great dining options. We REALLY enjoyed our stay here and would recommend it to all.

Staff were lovely, helpful and friendly.
The rooms were adequate but lacked places to put clothes and suitcases. Beds weren’t comfortable.
Picture of pool misleading and not enough chairs around it. Food was mediocre at best. Suites lacked proper sound proofing. Location was good in relation to town and nearby tourist sites.

The staff at Cassia Hill were wonderfully helpful! Our group ranged in age from 11 to 69 and they were able to assist all of us with activities. Our two cabanas were perfect for our group and they were very clean and had a good climate system (a/c and windows). The location is great too—a short drive into town.I would highly recommend Cassia Hill to anyone staying in San Ignacio.
