Comfort

Lovely, clean, comfortable accommodation with a very historical vibe. Breakfast was always available, cereals, breads, spreads, yoghurt, and fruit. Cookies are always available. Bathrooms were modern, clean, and hot hot water. Very private. John is a gracious host. The location is superb. We had no problem with noise, and we were ground level facing the main road.

We couldn't get the TV to turn on, but we were too busy sight seeing to want it anyway.

Nice location for an ob=vernighter

The location was excellent and not too noisy. The room was great, large and comfy. The breakfast is basic but good and abundant.

The coffee is the let down.

Convenient, affordable, great building. Friendly owner/ host. Very nice kitchen and brekky.

Location, breakfast included. Affordable stay for family of five. Beautiful building.

Ensuite was very small and built on uneven floor which played havoc with sense of balance. Shared bathrooms better option!

Wonderful place to stay in Hobart.

The host, John, was extremely helpful and accommodating. A fantastic place to stay with all you need - comfortable beds, crisp sheets, clean bathroom, refreshment facilities available 24 hours, centrally located to down to own Hobart and good company.

Felt at home immediately and appreciated the food provided

friendly reception from John. Great provision of breakfast bread spreads and fruit available 24/7. Quirky decor. Overall I felt like a house guest rather than customer. I had the single room 4 1/2. I wouldn’t hesitate to return

A small thing but getting to the parking area because of Hobart's busy one way street system when you first arrive..

The beautiful old house with antique furnishings and nic nacs and historical photos. The help yourself dining and snacks available. John, the host, a very friendly, welcoming person. Off road parking.

a clean, comfortable and convenient stay

The room was very comfortable and clean. The common areas were very beautiful and very very interesting. host has travelled a lot and has collected many artifacts and has put up as display there. kitchen was very good with fruits and cookies kept there all the time for your snacking. breakfast was good as well. Was really impressed by the host. Extremely friendly man. Location was very central and hence very convenient.

We stayed one night in a room with ensuite and another night where we had to use common baths. Ensuite really needs upgrade it is very dated. Common toilets and baths didnt have soap dispenser beside wash basins (only one had). We had to carry wet soap back from toilet back to the room. That was bit annoying.

Freedom to use kitchen as my own, personal welcome and friendliness of John, excellent location and wonderful to be able to park my car. John painstakingly helpful re re£parking my car after checking out so I could go off on Port Arthur Day Trip.

Quirky but tasteful decor, in the style of English BnBs. Comfy beds, clean amenities, dining room for guest use - mainly breakfast but we did notice people bringing in fish n chips one evening. Friendly host. Easily walkable to at least 2 eating establishments. The Duke pub was very pleasant for our first evening meal with tasteful jazz music and nice wood fired pizza and other fare. We had a beautiful clear morning and could see Mt Wellington through our bedroom window. The breakfast offerings were good with cereals, toast, coffee, tea. Would stay here again.

Be aware there are stairs to many (most) bedrooms so if you have elderly or less ambulant people that may pose a problem especially from the car parking out the back. We booked the self contained room with bathroom. It had been modernised however could do with some hand rails near the bath/shower entry as it is an over-bath style shower. High to step out of in particular. Might be problematic for some less agile people. There are other easier access shared facilities on that floor so could use those but maybe the point is to be able to safely use your own bathroom. The location is on a busy intersection so be aware there will be street noise. Did not bother us. Too tired.

Cute vintage place to stay at the heart of Hobart

A great place to stay at the heart of Hobart and excellent value for money. The owner John was friendly helpful and generous. We particularly enjoyed the continental breakfast which was complementary to our stay - it was a great way to start the fully packed day. Thanks!

The place was a bit dated but noise isolation was good. You could hear some subdued talking from other rooms but they were not loud to be distracting.

A comfortable welcoming stay in a clean well equipt and friendly B&B

Felt so welcome. Continental self serving breakfast is so well organised allowing for independence and choice. Use of kitchen any time to make a drink. Cookies and fruit available for all guests if wanted. Parking private at back door with own key entry to come and go. Lovely old house with some English style as well as Asian decor. Lovely friendly stay.

fantastic old bed and breakfast, the only downside is the street noise

beautiful old building, quaint and full of character. fantastic host, fantastic breakfast facilities and dining area with really delicious jams, a great variety of cereal, filter coffee, teas etc … the breakfast offering were above and beyond and is not time limited.

the location means that significant street noise is unavoidable, earplug are essential

Very welcoming host

Very kind host, extremely welcoming and eager to help with anything. The house itself is like a beautiful art gallery containing plenty of pictures, sculptures and other kinds of artifacts from around the world. The place is quite clean as well and provides convenient free parking just minutes away from the city centre. The breakfast was very well-provisioned, with various kinds of bread, jam, fruits, juices, etc. You definitively won't go hungry there! Hobart was quite cold at that time of year, but the electric mattress toppers were amazing at keeping us warm during the night.

The room we stayed in was probably the cheapest one in the house, on the lower level, fairly small and with naked rock walls (and therefore it was quite humid/somewhat smelly). It was also quite noisy at night due to its old windows facing a heavy-traffic road. The room was also quite far from the shared bathroom (2 levels up) which wasn't ideal. However, having a look around the house, it felt like all other rooms are significantly better (larger, much less humid, and generally closer to bathrooms), so if you go there, try to not pick the room with rock walls (the one with 2 single beds) and you should have a good time.

General atmosphere friendly and interesting decor plus all comfortable enough and quiet enough though on main street.

Small cleanliness details- cobwebs on fans, corners etc, fridge, lights initially not working.
