It’s Altamira, which means “A place with a beautiful view” in Spanish. Location, location, location. Tucked in the lush tropical Bravos hillside, and just minutes by foot to the town of Isabel Segunda and the water’s edge, this property provides a private getaway on the small island of Vieques. With spectacular panoramic views of the ocean, gorgeous sunsets and the distant lights of mainland Puerto Rico, this entire three level Villa is yours. Each floor features a bedroom suite with full bath and air-conditioning, as well as a main living room, dining and kitchen on the main level. When in the Caribbean, outside spaces are desired and this property doesn’t disappoint. A large outdoor patio and large soothing pool is surrounded by tropical plants and a sundeck which faces due west for inspiring sunsets. The island of Vieques is perfect for those who enjoy pristine uncrowded beaches and a laid-back culture for a relaxing holiday. Vieques is home to the world famous 'Bioluminescent Bay' which is a must see when visiting the island. Both Isabel Segunda on the north side of the island and Esperanza on the south are home to many local bars and restaurants for your entertainment. The south side of the island is a short 20-minute golfcart ride from Altamira. Once again, this property is the perfect combination of privacy and location to enjoy the many amenities that Vieques has to offer. Mine was a three and a half week stay and my fifth at Villa Altamira. Melyssa and Hector are the caretakers and they are wonderful, helpful, friendly. The house, the pool, the view and the Isabel community and town are superb not to mention friendly people, cats, horses, chickens and dogs. Great restaurants and beaches nearby. Vieques is my favorite vacation spot. Thank you !

We had 2 adults and 3 teenagers on our trip and we all loved every minute of our stay at this property. The house was well equipped with coolers, beach chairs, towels and everything we needed in the kitchen to make some simple meals.
The decks and pool area were amazing and we watched every sunrise and sunset from one of the comfortable outdoor spaces.
Meylissa was extremely responsive and a great resource for help with transportation and any other question we had.
The roads around the property are a little tricky if it's your first time to the island, but easy to navigate with 4 wheel drive (which you will want to get to green beach anyway :))
We would love to stay in this property again. Thanks for opening your beautiful home to our family.

The entire family thoroughly enjoined our stay at this property on Vieques. Great views, close to town, close to ferry, support was fantastic while there. Looking forward to a return trip. Highly recommend.

Villa Altamira worked perfectly for our group: two couples and a 13-year-old skater boy. The house is well situated in the neighborhood hills of Bravos de Boston, close enough to town to watch the ferries come and go but far enough away to be quiet.
The villa lives well. In our case, the couples took the main- and second-floor bedrooms and the teenager found sanctuary in the lower level with its own entrance. That room was a bit dark, but it was fine with the French doors opened.
The kitchen was well-equipped and the living room was comfortable. But we spent most of our time at the house gathered around the table on the porch or hanging out at the pool. The porch offers panoramic views to the north and west, so it's a great place to just relax and take in the view. The same is true of the pool area, which is outfitted with comfy lounges and Adirondack chairs.
This was our fifth trip to Vieques, and this was among the nicest homes we've rented. Melyssa, the caretaker, was attentive to our needs, and Dennis and Annette communicated well both before and after our stay. We'd happily stay here again!

We were happy with the home and very thankful for the AC units in the bedrooms. Although finding the house was a little difficult. Perhaps a picture of what the home looks like from the road. Since the listing picture is the back of the house.
I enjoyed morning coffee from the hammock and watching th ferry go across and back. We enjoyed the pool, and the outdoor dinner table. Having beach things and coolers was extremely helpful.

Melissa is amazing to interact with and this rustic Vieques house doesn't disappoint with its charm and great views. We loved our time. Thank you Melissa for helping us coordinate finding a custom birthday cake a few weeks before our visit. It was beautiful and delicious!!

Villa Altamira was a wonderful place for our two families to spend a week or so on Vieques (four adults and four kids total). The pool was a big hit. The bedrooms were comfortable. The location felt private yet was an easy walk to town. Melyssa, the property manager was SO helpful throughout our stay. We would definitely come back to this house!

The house had plenty of space and the view from the top balcony was absolutely stunning. The kitchen items could use some TLC along with some of the bedding, but things were clean. We enjoyed the house.

We loved Villa Altimara! Our family of 5 had a great time on the island and got exactly what we went there for. We wanted to unplug, unwind and relax... We did just that. Thanks for a offering such a wonderful place for rent!

Location was great to walk to down and minutes from ferry. The pictures were deceiving. The place is great but needs some TLC and kitchen could be cleaner. Grill was missing a grease pan and grease was spilling on the deck and I did not find the washing machine. They should leave a manual for guest. If you want a no frills get away with privacy THIS IS THE PLACE.

This is the second time we've stayed at this house and it did not disappoint! House is clean, we felt safe renting during the potential end of a pandemic and very well kept. The pool is amazing and very private. Kitchen was stocked with the needed appliances and room to cook. Weather was awesome and hot! The breezes through the home were refreshing and the bedrooms were cooled with the AC - perfect for a good nights rest. The views are killer! Sit outside on the covered rear deck and relax, which is exactly what we needed. The town needs the money from tourism, so bring lots of cash! Rent a jeep, go off road - tons of maps for were to go and find the hidden beaches that will take your breath away! Stopped at the local mom and pop bars and found great people! Hours to most places varied due to the virus, but nothing that we couldn't handle! We highly recommend this house!

We really enjoyed our stay. The view from the master bedroom deck was great. Coffee there every morning! Pool was sunny, but private. A/C was good and cold in the bedrooms. The layout was nice with sleeping areas on each floor.

Altamira Villa was absolutely the most beautiful place and experience ever ! The pool was actually bigger in person and the area was gorgeous, filled with lots of roaming horses but they’re super sweet and friendly :) only thing I strongly recommend is renting a car or golf cart as I did the mistake of not finding reservations in time so my crew and I had to walk some places , not too far but with the heat made the walk difficult but other than that great place ! Melyssa was extremely helpful and made sure we were well taken care of ! You won’t regret this place !

We absolutely loved Vieques, and Villa Altamira was the perfect place to stay on the island. When we first arrived, my children (age 8 and 10) were running around the villa jumping with excitement at how lovely it was. The pool was unbelievable! We spent so much time swimming in the afternoons and evenings under the stars. The deck was just wonderful for morning coffee and dinners that we made in the house (or brought back takeaway). The beds were comfortable and although we only used the air conditioning once or twice it worked well. We actually used the box fans in each bedroom as white noise to drown out some of the rooster noise, and by the end of the week we didn't notice them any longer. We found the restaurants on the island excellent. We ordered delivery from Mama Mia's the first night, and then we ate at El Quenepo , Bananas, and Jack's in Esperanza. We did the bio bay and that was magical. I felt the island was safe, and it may have spoiled us because often times we were the only ones on the white sand beaches. I would come back in a second, and especially to Villa Altamira, which may have ruined us for any other rentals in the Caribbean from here on out! Thank you again!

We loved our stay. The house was well stocked and clean. We will be back. Limited selection of sunscreen or bug spray on the island so bring some, and get you car ahead of time. The bioluminescent bay was amazing!!! So we’re the beaches.

Had a really good time at Villa Altamira. Pool was wonderful and the accommodations were nice. Thank goodness for Google mapping as getting to the property can be a bit tricky. Rooms were nice and clean. To be critical and transparent, water pressure and temperature was a bit off at times, but still a 5 star review! Wi-Fi for playing Pandora on the TV got off-line and we had difficulty with blender. The view from the rooftop was awesome. Nice having a washing machine available. Plenty of towels. Decent amount of spices, pots and pans, cooler, utensils. We would revisit the property again.

This place is better than the pictures online. Close to all the beaches and activities that the island has to provide. The pool is much bigger in person and the sunrise and sunsets are spectacular. I will be renting this property in the near future.
