About this house rental

Nestled in Acadia National Park, this lovely house for £669 per night is a fantastic option for your next break. Downtown Bar Harbor, a five minute walk to the iconic Shore Path, the harbor, and one block to Bar Island. A seven minute drive (1.7 miles) to the entrance to Cadillac Mountain and the Carriage Roads. A great home base convenient to village life. After an active day out exploring Acadia, you'll be a short stroll to groceries, restaurants, juice bars, pubs, shopping and the free Acadia shuttle. Spacious but cozy on a rainy day. Two living rooms make this great for families. You’ll be right in town, next to Town Hall, directly across from The Black Friar Inn and Pub and one block from Hannaford, the island’s largest grocery store, as well as a short stroll to everything town has to offer- restaurants, shopping, etc - including the tidal walking path to Bar Island, which is one block away and is part of Acadia National Park. This is our home and we take great pride in its appearance and your experience. Kate's family has lived year-round on Mount Desert Island for 8 generations and has extensive experience managing hotels and rentals on the island; we have both worked in guest services for years and promise you’ll be in good hands! As avid hikers, bicyclists, skiers and sailors we have both spent years exploring all the wonderful activities the park, the island and its nearby waters have to offer and are happy to offer tips and guidance throughout your stay. We also love to go out to eat and can offer recommendations for restaurants at every price point. The layout: There is space to park two medium size vehicles (or one large and one small) in the driveway directly in front of the house. There is a municipal lot directly across the street with free overnight parking. There are several steps to reach the large front porch, which has two Adirondack chairs for guests to enjoy. The house has two floors. Downstairs you’ll find a living room, a dining room with seating for 8, a kitchen with a gas stove, dishwasher and large fridge, a full bathroom and a bedroom with a queen size bed. Upstairs you’ll find three bedrooms (two kings and a set of bunk beds), a full bathroom and an additional living room. There is a washer/dryer combo available for use in the basement for free, down a short flight of stairs. What to expect: High Speed WiFi - 383 MBPS Games, books and two televisions for rainy days Two heat pumps in the living rooms for heating/cooling Beds and bedrooms: Beautyrest Silver medium firm mattresses (with the exception of bunk beds, which are high quality foam) 100% cotton sheets 3 pillows per bed (with the exception of bunk beds, which have 2 pillows each) Cotton quilt Lightweight woven blanket Warmer plush loft blanket Blackout blinds Closet, drawer storage and hangers Hamper Additional amenities *available upon request: Changing table and changing pad Diaper genie Pack ‘n Play Bathrooms: 2 sets of classic Brooklinen bathroom towels per guest (body towel, hand towel and wash cloth) Makeup removal wipes (please use these! Our towels and pillow cases are high quality and makeup leaves stains. There will be a charge for any stains we cannot remove.) Hair dryer Toiletries including shampoo, conditioner and body wash 4 rolls of toilet paper Hand soap Iron and ironing board Kitchen: Pantry basics (olive oil, salt, pepper and a full spice rack) Pour over, drip and french press coffee makers Pots, pans and bakeware Mugs, drinking glasses and wine glasses Utensils, dishes for dining and serving Cutting boards, knives, strainers etc. Kitchen scale for baking 2 rolls of paper towels Plastic wrap and foil Dish soap Dishwasher detergent Trash bags Cook books Recreation: 5 beach towels provided 2 beach chairs provided Home Exterior: Keyless entry Front porch with Adirondack chairs and side table You can access the network of Carriage Roads 1.7 miles away, or walk to the free park shuttle bus, the Island Explorer, if you don't feel like driving or biking into the park. Some of the shuttles carry bikes, so you can put your bike on and be ferried into the heart of the park for free. There is space to launch kayaks at the entrance to Bar Island, 2/10 of a mile away (a 3-4 minute walk). (***Please attempt this ONLY if you have experience ocean kayaking, as the weather and seas in the area are unpredictable and there is a lot of ocean traffic, including cruise ships and other larger, high-speed vessels). There are plenty of outfits around that offer guided lessons, if you're new to kayaking. We are not responsible for any irresponsible things you do during your stay. ** Please note that there is an attached garage with a separate entrance that has been converted into an efficiency apartment where we stay during the summer; it shares an exterior wall but is fully separate from the main house and you will have complete privacy during your stay, but you may see us coming and going. We have two dogs; they are kept under strict control and away from visitors. *** Please note that there is currently a large construction project across the street and there may be some daytime noise.

We've stayed in a good number of rental properties and this is one of the absolute best. No scratched up non-stick cookware here! The kitchen is small, but mighty. Le Creuset and stainless steel are the cookware of choice. The coffee equipment is top notch. In the listing, I saw that there was a grinder and some different coffee making choices, but that usually means a cheap blade grinder and a Mr Coffee - not here. There's a nice burr grinder, a Le Creuset press, a nice drip machine, a Chimex, and other other pour over options. Outside of the kitchen, you'll find Barr Co & Native soaps and shampoos, quality towels and sheets and comfortable Beautyrest Silver mattresses. The furniture is comfortable and clean. The decor is tasteful, there are books everywhere, and there were some toys for the kiddos. They got hooked on Simon and forgot about their tablets! Outside of the house, you can walk to everything in Bar Harbor and its a short drive to the main part of Acadia National Park. There is private parking right in front of the house. Stop hesitating and book it!

We loved this rental! If you have a family with a great grandparent, toddlers, and adults, this home is for you! The home has a first floor bedroom and a bath off the kitchen - perfect for older grandparents. The kitchen was cozy and filled with all the things you need. Dining room table was big enough for 2 toddlers and 7 adults! Upstairs there was room for 3 couples and bedrooms big enough for a pack and play! Washer and dryer and n the basement! We enjoyed that we could WALK to the grocery store with the wagon provided any time we needed. You can even buy wine there! A short walk to the Bar Island and short walk to downtown. We rented bikes and everything was close. Even wheelchair accessible from the rental to town. Love to stay here again!
