The Spanish Jewel, resting high atop a hill overlooking Green Valley Park & Lake with panoramic views of the town and the distant mountains, is a step back in time, a serene place specifically designed for you to relax, to unplug, and to unwind. More a charming cottage than cabin, this jewel on the mount is beckoning you to visit and to create moments and memories to last a lifetime. A bit quirky, a bit luxe, The Spanish Jewel really is a magical space just waiting to put a spell on you. The Spanish Jewel was meticulously constructed over fifty years ago by a local artisan/craftsman using many antique pieces and architectural salvage items. Over the last two years the property has experienced a comprehensive 'sprucing' of its original details. This 'sprucing' coupled with the detailed addition of new amenities has been successful in achieving today's standards of Mountain Luxe. The Jewel has a large Living Room w/a window wall overlooking the mountains, a remote-controlled propane fireplace, 40" flatscreen w/cable & internet. There is a lovely updated eat-in Kitchen, Laundry Room, one bedroom on the main floor, and a bedroom in the cozy 'crow's nest' loft. The bath has a shower w/spa showerhead, sumptuous fluffy hotel-grade towels, & complimentary body wash, shampoo, & conditioner. The Main Bedroom offers an upholstered Queen bed w/new 'Beautyrest Black' luxury hybrid mattress, dual control heated mattress pad, infrared electric fireplace, & exit to a charming flagstone terrace with a propane firepit and vistas of the town below and the Mazatzal Mountains beyond. Some of the original Spanish influences include heavy hand-hewn wood doors, beveled glass doors, wrought iron fixtures, stained glass, original Saltillo floors & rustic log beam(ed) ceilings, & a sink vanity set in an old hand-carved Spanish desk. Some of the modern amenities include the new propane log stove for chilly evenings, a reimagined fully equipped kitchen w/vintage hand-carved cabinetry, a cooking island, leather-look Quartzite counters, GE Profile appliances, Keurig hot/cold brew coffeemaker, toaster, blender, & all the pots & pans, dinnerware, glassware, & flatware you will need. The Spanish jewel was wonderful. It was totally stocked with everything and then some for an enjoyable experience. George did an exceptional job of communicating and making everything above and beyond. I would highly recommend the Spanish Jewel to anyone looking for a quiet luxurious getaway. Can't wait to come back!!

Cozy, comfortable, quiet, clean, meticulously decorated and appointed. We’ve stayed at many places in recent years and this is a favorite, for sure. Gas log fireplace! Outdoor fireplace! Laundry room! Lotsa ice! Full kitchen! Loved exploring Payson and the surrounding area. George is a beyond-fabulous host.

My husband and I recently had the pleasure of staying at the Spanish Jewel. Our experience was absolutely wonderful. Every aspect of our stay, from arrival to departure, was perfect. The house was the perfect size and had all the amenities we needed, including a comfortable bed and an enjoyable fire pit. It was also quiet and peaceful. We loved exploring the area and found that the location of the house was perfect. The VRBO host was incredibly accommodating and attentive to our needs. They gave us recommendations for local attractions and dining options, ensuring that we made the most of our time in the area. Their warm welcome and willingness to help with any questions made us feel like valued guests. Overall, we had a great time and would highly recommend the Spanish Jewel to anyone looking for a comfortable and enjoyable vacation experience.

Enjoyed our stay. Surprised with air conditioning thought we would just have fans in the mountains. Little biting bugs in back patio kept us inside but we were hiking most of the day. We will refer you to friends. Coffee table corners… ouch! Loved all the attention to detail.. very nice!

We had a beautiful time staying at the “Spanish Jewel”. When we first entered, we had a welcoming surprise (Basket full of treats, Chocolate and a bottle of wine), George you know how to make us feel welcomed. This place was extremely comfortable and filled with personality. We are home cooks, so it was nice to have a fully stocked kitchen. The location was convenient and private, the house sits on top of a hill overlooking Green Valley Park Lake (we spent every morning walking around the lake). Easy access to drive into town to shop and see other landmarks. We enjoyed hiking to see the Water Wheel Falls, and explored the Tonto Natural Bridge. Thank you George for opening your home to us and being an awesome Host.

What a beautiful "Jewel"! I absolutely loved our stay here in Georges property. So cozy, and such apparent care given to this property. It is a cozy cabin type home. Great views sitting out back of the park, and sitting out front of the trees. You must look around as there are such cool little things all around ( find the bunny and bobcat outside). Both bedrooms are comfortable (especially loved sleeping in the loft). Everything you need for a comfortable stay is there! Any questions? George is happy to answer and help. My mom and I stayed and just so thoroughly enjoyed our stay here and plan to come back soon! Thanks George!

Unique, cozy, well-appointed home in the heart of Payson. We enjoyed our stay from beginning to end. Host George had set out snacks, wine, chocolates and fresh roses to greet us as we entered the “Spanish Jewel”. The house was absolutely immaculate and delightfully decorated, with wood beamed ceilings, quirky antiques such as an old phone and a wooden desk that was repurposed as the bathroom vanity. Checking in was a breeze and George quickly responded when we had a question regarding how to access Wi-Fi. Though set in a neighborhood, there was a sense of privacy due to being high up on a hill and having plenty of trees around. We loved sitting out on the patio at night, although we didn’t make use of the fire pit. Perfect for a couple’s getaway. Very highly recommended.

George is a very thoughtful host and the Spanish Jewel is beautiful. Fully stocked with everything we needed for a comfortable, relaxing weekend. We were celebrating our 38th anniversary and George surprised us with a bottle of wine and a decadent and very delicious chocolate cake! We will be back! Thank you George.

This home really is a jewel! Warm, inviting, beautiful, and unique. Has lots of wood, comfy furniture and throw blankets. A great kitchen - large and well-stocked. Sat by the fire pit most evenings. The host made us feel special.
