Welcome to Tegara, a modern four-bedroom property in the village of Mount Hawke, between Truro and Redruth. Sleeping eight guests, it has parking for up to four cars. Downstairs is a double bedroom and walk-in shower. On the first floor are three further double bedrooms (one en-suite) and the family bathroom. The large living/dining room opens out onto a patio ideal for eating al fresco, or watching the night skies, whilst the children and dogs can run around the lawned garden. Ideal as a base, the property is close to the A30, allowing easy access to the north and west coasts, just over 2 miles from the picturesque village of St. Agnes and Porth Chapel beach, and 2½ miles from Porthtowan Beach. Mount Hawke had a history of local copper mining activities and is now known for its famous skateboarding centre, stunning beaches, and coastal walks. St. Agnes is a large village on the north coast, unspoilt in a designated Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty and a World Heritage Site with four beaches and is a haven for wildlife including sharks, seals, and dolphins. You will also find references to Poldark as the parish is also called Poldark Country. If you want a family friendly beach head to Porthtown, a large sandy beach backed by imposing cliffs and popular with surfers at low tide; this meets up with Chapel Porth. This area is popular for walkers who navigate the coastal paths admiring the rugged landscape and the wide variety of wildlife, you can take circular walks, depending on your fitness levels and skill levels. If you would prefer walking in more sheltered environments, or exploring old mine areas or a combination of coast and country there are plenty of options to choose. If you are feeling more energetic follow the cycle paths, equipment can be hired, just choose from 35 routes. If you are looking for days out why not go to the Eden Project? It is well worth the drive of around 50 minutes, where you can submerge yourself in tropical rain forests, take in the sights and smells of the mediterranean Biome and explore the large outdoor garden. If you like gardens, a trip to the Lost Gardens of Heligan is a must, children love the magical gardens, the farm, and the woodland, whilst you can enjoy the Productive Garden and Please Grounds. If you want to explore West Cornwall, head to Falmouth and the Helford River, visit Glendurgan, and Trebah Garden, or Trelissick house and gardens in Feock near Truro; you can catch the Ferry across Carrick Roads from here. After a hard day at the beach, rinse the sand off at the outside tap, wash the dog’s paws, hang up the wet suits and chill. Whatever you choose to do, there is nothing better than coming back to Tegora, kick off the shoes and snuggle up on the comfy sofa with a good book in front of the wood burner, or relax in the south-facing garden with a drink.
