On the positive side: We really enjoyed the location of the property in that it was nearly the last house before miles of beach to walk on (dogs not welcome on that beach, but are fine on the public beach a short distance away). There was a little area of private beach right at the house that was very sweet and clean and nice to sit and read a book or just listen to the waves and step in the water. It was very easy to access the home with the key code, and we found everything that we expected and needed inside. The back balcony picnic table was very nice to sit on and watch the sunset in the evening or play cards. We watched dolphins fishing right off the balcony. We caught a few speckled trout and some Atlantic spade fish. On the down side: The grill did not work (?perhaps just needs maintenance?), it was a little dirty: the housekeeper had not checked underneath sofas and chairs for quite some time, the carpet in the room I stayed in smelled like dog urine, toilet paper hanger was broken and had been placed in a window sill. There were some cockroaches about. I would guess they have multiple rentals and had not laid eyes on this place themselves in awhile. Wouldn't take much to clean it up.

When arrived at the house it was cold come to find out the heater was broken had to wait for maintenance to come the next day. When he arrived he told me it was broken and the part wouldn’t be in to the next week. And while all this was going on at 8 in the morning on Friday morning a guy knocked on the door then just walked in to the house I had rented to take pictures of the Ceiling where it had water damage. I asked him if he always walked into peoples house without being told it was ok he then told me he was having a off day. Then another guy showed up with space heaters he Made 2 trips so we had to stay at the house all day to waiting on him. And we also found dead cockroaches in the house I asked the lady with vrbo if it had been sprayed for bug she said yes so I told her what we found and she told me it happens at her house also. And I do understand all of this and I know things happen but I paid over 1200 dollars to stay here to be in a cold house with no heat the first night then Couldn’t go out with my family the next day because waiting on maintenance and a guy to bring space heaters and for a guy to just walk in unannounced to take pictures. I would like to speak to a manager this was a very bad experience!

We arrived just a few days after Hurricane Ida and they were doing everything possible to make our stay great. They even had to rebuild the parking area, literally as we were pulling up. Incredible over the top effort, thank you. You will be staying literally in the Gulf of Mexico. Most of the house, the supporting pylons, are Gulfside of the slope of the beach. At first we were taken aback, but really enjoyed the unique venue. We didnt fish, but you definitely could fish from the seawall on the front of the house, several boats were fishing there. You are at the end of the road, right next to the dune park, which is so refreshing to be near an undeveloped area. We had a storm come through and it should be noted that for some of the big waves, the house sways notably. It did not bother us, but it might be a little unsettling for some, so just know what you are getting. We liked it. Bring your food, cook at the house, you will be happy to see the sunset, instead of going to the restaurants (maybe for a beer or so). It's a unique and great location.

The property is amazing. Was able to view dolphins as close as 25 yards right off the back deck. Seen dolphins nearly every day. The sunrises and sunsets are breathtaking. I don't think I've ever seen more beautiful sunsets. It was a much needed relaxing vacation.

We had a wonderful Christmas stay on Dauphin Island! The house was beautiful, and the views were awesome! Enjoyed walking the West End of Dauphin Island with our dogs!

Loved the whole idea, not our 1st rodeo. That being said...Holes in the walls & you can see straight through. Layer of sand through out the house upon arrival. Petrified "something" in 2 different spots on the back deck. Hose on front porch (for rinsing off); spicket (not on gulf side) rotted off. No outdoor trash receptacle, one was spray painted with this property # on it but the folks at the front of this property (street side) had it at the their house (in stair well) and it was full. Then came the TS Gordon, we were told to evacuate by 2 different associates 20 minutes apart; so we did. Threw all of your groceries away, etc. Told by EMS in marked SUV on the way out of town, that there was NOT an evacuation order & probably would not be until "maybe" the next day. We had planned on returning here every 3 months or so. Unfortunately @ the time, we didn't realize how SUPERB the associates and owners with VRBO/Home Away were @ Virginia Beach, VA & Myrtle Beach, SC & Duck, NC & Biloxi, MS & Venice Beach, FL, etc. Comparatively speaking, this rental person lacks the etiquette and temperament for this business. Lovely area!

The driveway was almost impossible to navigate, parking for more than one vehicle impossible unless stacked front to rearThe floor plan was nice..gulf side porch was fantastic. The bedding & pillows in all bedrooms were the worse I had ever tried to sleep on...dog hair all over MB mattress cover . bathrooms were clean...all BR windows needed blinds or curtains...For a home unit it was at best below average (at present) .....Had the Bedding and parking been better.....it could have achieved a 3 or 3 1/2 review..to achieve a 4 review would require a total upgrade of the furnishings.... on the plus side, everything did work ....We did enjoy our stay primarily due to the View, Sun, breeze, gulf, and moon... PS.. The 20 foot shairs are killers.......

My husband and I stayed at this gorgeous house by the sea for 3 nights and we regret not planning a longer stay. The house is very clean, spacious and comfortable and very well equipped. But I have to say, who cares about the house because when you walk on to the deck and see the views, oh wow wow wow. This house is so close to the sea that you can hear the waves lapping. The deck is large and shaded and well equipped with furniture and very private. If you fancy a swim then just walk down the steps and 1 minute later, dive into the sea. We loved this house, both inside and out, its relaxing, its comfortable and it has stunning views. I still think about watching the sun go down whilst sitting on the deck. If you like wildlife, then the Pelicans, dolphins and crabs should keep you entertained. The town of Dauphine has a few restaurants and shops but are very limited. We stocked up with food and drink before we got to the island. This house was a great place to relax and unwind. We will definitely visit again.
