I was in Puntarenas to meet friends arriving on a cruise ship. I spoke wiht the staff and arranged a convenient time for breakfast. Breakfast was very tasty. The room was clean. There was an odor from the sink. After I mentioned it, a man fixed the problem.
The staff helped me exit the property to join the street traffic.
hotel is on the main street leading into town so there was traffic noise all night. I purchased earplugs for the second night and that helped a lot. The gate to the property is kept closed so you must phone or get someone's attention for them to open the gate. This was easy during the day.

Omdat we een kleinere kamer kregen gaven ze om 50 procent korting. De kamer was prima idd wat smal. Maar helemaal oké en zwembad was heerlijk om even af te koelen.
Dame in restaurant was niet heel vriendelijk. De rest vh personeel wel dus ze viel een beetje uit de toon.

O facto de estar localizado junto á estrada que separa o alojamento da praia, faz com se ouça sobretudo á noite, o trânsito.

Mar y Mar is located 1 mile outside of Puntarenas. The room is very comfy and gives a nice feel with the terracotta color on the walls. It also has a little Restaurant with homemade Casada (local Costa Rican), Chevice. The staff is very friendly, always smiling and Robert, the owner is very good in arranging tours.

Small and secluded with a great beachfront location. All amenities you need are catered for (pool, shop & restaurant) and having stayed here a couple of times, the owners are extremely helpful and friendly,
Not so much a dislike but, bare in mind the hotel is not located in central Puntarenas so prepare to walk or get a taxi/bus. Iif like us you're looking for somewhere quiet and away from the bustle however, this ticks all the boxes.

The hotel was small but lovely. We had two double beds within the room. The breakfast provided was lovely, very traditional. The room was clean & the staff could not do enough to help.
The location was unfortunate & the pool was small. The WiFi was not working for the first night but was excellent when working.

We used this hotel as a cheap pit stop to break up the car journey from Quepos to Monteverde. It served this purpose by the skin of its teeth. Food was good for evening dinner.
The room was really small and smelt like sewage when you used the sink. We had mosquitoes in the room but were killed with fly spray after we complained, not ideal for an asthmatic. Breakfast was terrible for us as vegetarians. You don’t get an option, we just got handed a plate of food with meat on.

The hotel is gorgeous just the town is not a particularly nice place. I came off the Ferry from Nosara so was a good halfway stop.

Nice, cozy place. Very warm and friendly atmosphere. Tuck away from the busy city center. Food in the restaurant was excellent.

There is a very busy highway next to the hotel, but the staff is very good about helping you get in the parking lot and directing you to a parking spot.

Unfortunately, we stayed only one night at the hotel. The room was impeccable clean, the bed was comfortable, and there is a swimming pool on the property. Next morning we got a delicious traditional breakfast and we got all of that at a reasonable price.
It was a pleasure to meet Roberto,the owner and his wife. He is a great host and lovely person. We enjoyed talking with him. He shared great stories with us and he helped us while I wasn't feeling great the next day.
There is a shop and the restaurant next to the hotel. They offered great food at local price. In front of the hotel is a nice chill-place at the beach.
We love being surrounded by nice-talkative people and feel like home while we are traveling and we felt like that during our stay. We will def come back. Thank you Roberto! Pura Vida!

The most I liked the people. I arrived early in the morning and just wanted to drop my heavy pack pack and hang around before check in, so I had such a good breakfast in the restaurant with great service also. Then they gave me my room super early, which was great so I could rest after a lot of traveling. Next morning I took a ferry or was planning on taking one, and was myself late in schedule so the wonderful guy with French name (don’t know how to spell) offered to take me to harbor bc taxi had taken too long to arrive. There was also later once, but the kindness of these people is just so adorable 🥰 muchísimas Gracias ✨
Hotel room and all was also clean and everything, perfect for my one night rest.
