Situated in Kure Beach, this lovely condo for £142 per night is a fantastic choice for your next break. Welcome to the "Mermaids Sunrise": where the mystical and nature’s beauty meet! This uniquely-designed two-bedroom, two-bath, 2nd floor end unit condo WITH AN ELEVATOR in Ocean Dunes gives you a beautiful view and experience of the Atlantic. At "Mermaids Sunrise" there is plenty of room for you and your family of six. You'll have plenty of room to relax with the open concept kitchen, dining and living areas that lead out onto the spacious oceanfront deck. The main bedroom is also oceanfront with a Queen bed and attached full bath with it's own entrance to the deck. The second bedroom has two Twin beds and utilizes the second full bath in the hallway. A sleeper sofa in the living room rounds out the sleeping arrangements. The unit is quipped with cable and Wi-Fi. Note that the fireplace is decorative only and does not function. Ocean Dunes is an ideal year-round vacation spot for families! Located at the southern end of Pleasure Island, in Kure Beach next to Historic Fort Fisher, Ocean Dunes occupies one mile of beachfront with several private beach walkways. Included with your reservation is access to all the amenities Ocean Dunes offers, as well as the Recreation Center. Amenities include three outdoor pools, a children's playground, tennis courts, a basketball court and a shuffleboard court. The Recreation Center has an indoor pool, whirlpool/spa, gym, saunas, and showers. For Recreation Center Hours and Information, call 910.239.1370. Ocean Dunes is located on the southern tip of Pleasure Island where you can find the unique coquina rocks that bubble up with fresh water. There is plenty of room for soaking up the sun or swimming in the cool waters. *Please keep in mind that if you are renting a property with a pool during the off-season, it may not be open or available. Pools are usually open from mid- May to September, but dates can vary based on weather, permits, HOA guidelines, inspections, improvements, and unforeseen events. This condo has a great location! We stayed here for Christmas and though the weather wasn’t great, the views were. The condo could use some deeper cleaning, some new furnishings, and some better kitchen gear. Everything was functional, just quite worn.

First, I want to say this is an incredible unit. The view is absolutely breathtaking. I have never stayed so close to the ocean and the beach. This makes this unit awesome. A short ride to restaurants and entertainment. The grocery store is just up the road. Everything you could possibly need is a short drive. The property mngt left a turkey roasting pan since it was Thanksgiving. I thought that was a very nice touch. Also, there was toilet paper, paper towels and dish washer pellets left. That was also nice. Past tenants have left different food stuffs so there is a ‘pantry’. There was games to play also.

For review to be useful, I will tell you about some of the negatives. When we entered the unit, it was quite stale and smelly. It was not welcoming. Of course after a little while of opening the doors and windows to air out the place it was better. But it is November. The place was dusty. Like it had been cleaned for the last tenant, and then left empty for a period.
ALL the furniture was uncomfortable… except for the deck furniture. There are NO TVs in the bedrooms. The room with the twin beds has no useful closet. Just a bench. No hooks, no where to hang your cloths, no shelves…. Nothing.
The Kitchen. Old and dirty. (Bugs too) The few pots, all burned out and scratched. Very limited, cheap utensils.
With such a beautiful unit, it could be so much better. I expect premium conditions with a premium price.
I may try Bryant Realty again but not this unit.

This was a cute little apartment with amazing views of the ocean. It was very bright and airy. The furniture could use an upgrade and the beds were not very comfortable but the views of the ocean made up for all of it.

We enjoyed staying at Mermaids Sunrise. We stopped by Bryant Real Estate to grab our keys, and the staff was very welcoming, so everything started off on the right foot. The unit was clean and very conveniently located just steps to the beach. An absolutely breathtaking view! Appliances are in great condition! For those not used to first row properties, there will be bugs, it is inevitable! This unit is properly treated and the bugs were not an issue at all. Very clean unit.

Great stay!
This was such an amazing stay. It is directly on the beach, so it's perfect. The unit was very clean and welcoming. You'll want to bring your own beach towels and toiletries, make sure you read the agreement before you go, it's all in there. The unit is close to food, the boardwalk and other cool places. It does sit back just a bit further than the building to the left when you are sitting on the porch, so you can see people sometimes if they are sitting on their porch. The only suggestions I would make is a table/chairs on the porch that sit up high over the railing, so it is easier to see the water. Also, the door from the porch sticks, so we entered though the bedroom's door to the porch since it was easier to pull. Perhaps a curtain over the door in the living room would be nice as well. I tried to message Bryant reality over VRBO several times but never got any responses, so I am not sure if they really use that or if you need to contact them through their site/email.
Overall, I would definitely be back, and we are very happy we chose this unit!

Comfortable and clean. Pools were great too and we enjoyed being steps from the beach. We also needed a place with an elevator and that worked well too.

Primo Loocation
Overall I would definitely recommend staying at Mermaid's Sunrise. The view was spectacular and as I'm writing this, I miss being there now. We practically lived on the deck so my main criticism would be the sliding door to it. It was a chore to open and close and it has been stated earlier in other reviews what a pain it was. The door really needs to be fixed.
Storage space in the second bedroom was very sparse. We had to share the master closet to hang clothing.

The balcony was amazing. Great scenery! Parking was great, underneath the condo. The living area did not have any window treatments on the sliding door, which affected us until the sun moved. The linens provided for the bed were a bit rough and thin; I would suggest bringing your own linens/sheets. Unfortunately we had a family of 5 above us (3 kids) and you could here every step and yell they made. But that did not ruin our stay.

On the surface, the condo was clean, until you look into the corners of the rooms and shower curtains. I placed a call to hospitality and they addressed my concerns immediately. The master bed was not comfortable. The sliding glass doors from livingroom to deck was extremely difficult to open. This too was addressed with hospitality. They knew of it, but wasn't fixed prior to our visit. Then they couldn't have anyone come until our 5th day there and still wasn't easy to open & close. We loved the location and the ease of beach access. Also to mention, that there are beach chairs and boogie boards to use which are not mentioned in the amenities. Overall a good stay but might not chose this condo again for reasons that I mentioned in this review.

Everything was clean and tidy. The set up was open, functional, relaxing and comfortable. It was a perfect example of less is more!
Linens were being sanitized and plastic sealed between renters, so we had to make our own beds and hang the towels (which is unusual for a cleaning, linens included rental), but a small difference to strive for health and safety. As a family that typically stays in a house rental, we were relieved our stay, while sharing walls with neighbors, wasn't bothersome. Only once or twice day did we actually hear our neighbors.
The views from the shaded balcony were gorgeous. We loved falling asleep to the ocean waves at night and waking up to the sunrises over the water. Mermaids Sunrise was the relaxing beach escape our family needed.

This condo provided just what we were looking for - a quiet beach location, easy access to the beach, and a great view. With 2BR, 2BA, living room, kitchen, and a very large balcony, there was plenty of space for our family of four. Bryant realty (the property manager) was very professional. We had an issue with the water heater, and they had someone out who fixed it within a couple of hours. (Make sure to stop at the Bryant office before going to the condo, or you'll be backtracking 15-20 min.)
The mossy rocks in the pictures are gorgeous at low tide, but plan on swimming or bodysurfing, etc. about 50 yards to the south, where there is clear sandy beach. The beach itself had many people walking, fishing, running, etc. for miles, but was never crowded during the week we stayed (early Aug.)
The condo was comfortable, with a queen bed, 2 twins, and a fold-out couch (which we did not use). I would recommend to the property owners to invest in better mattresses and pillows, as they were obviously of a lower grade. The kitchen could use some updating. I wouldn't normally mention it, except that things like pots, pans, knives, utensils should be of higher quality than we found, and better organized if you want to rent out your condo for a premium.
The property also includes use of the fitness center, an indoor pool, and 3 different outdoor pools. We did not avail ourselves of these, but did check them out, and all seemed easily accessible and well-maintained.
Kure Beach itself seems to be primarily residential, which gives it a quieter, more relaxed feel than Carolina Beach or Worthington Beach, but it also means that shopping and restaurants are scarce within walking distance. But we found plenty of great options (esp. for seafood!) within a 10, 20, or 30-minute drive.
Overall, if you're looking for something upscale, this isn't currently that. But you can definitely find a comfortable, refreshing, and relaxing vacation here.

This was our 2nd year renting this unit. Great location right beside the beach access and shower and right across the street from the main pool and indoor recreation center. It is nice and bright with a view of the rocks and a lovely palm tree right off the balcony. Great new washer/dryer unit which comes in handy washing towels. The kitchen could use an update as could the smaller bathroom but it was functional. The main complaint for me was the over flowing trash cans upon arrival and with the 4th holiday trash was not picked up until Tuesday and the trash cans smelled terrible. Maintenance was quick to come take care of one can that did not get emptied once we called them. The parking area under the
unit was very dirty with leaves and sand and some trash but the view and location was worth that inconvenience. Next year maybe I’ll bring a blower!

Great location right beside the beach access and shower and right across the street from the main pool and indoor recreation center. It is nice and bright with a view of the rocks and a lovely palm tree right off the balcony. Great new washer/dryer unit which comes in handy washing towels. The kitchen could use an update as could the smaller bathroom but it was functional. The main complaint for me was the over flowing trash cans upon arrival and with the 4th holiday trash was not picked up until Tuesday and the trash cans smelled terrible. Maintenance was quick to come take care of one can that did not get emptied once we called them. The parking area under the unit was very dirty with leaves and sand and some trash but the view and location was worth that inconvenience. Next year maybe I’ll bring a blower!
