After opening the front door the odor was unbearable. Mix of sweaty socks and urine. Unfortunately pictures of cabin do not show the smell. We immediately opened all windows. After inspecting the cabin we saw that it was dirty (dirty kitchen cabinet doors, dirty fridge, dust everywhere, dirty couch, dirty chairs and termite pellets). I communicated it right away to the host. He did not arrange for a cleaning he only asked for pictures. (I sent him pics but heard nothing, a good host would not want his guests to stay at a dirty place). That night the bathroom by the driveway started smelling like a septic tank with a smell of faecal matter. So bad that our friends put tiger balm (very strong eucalyptus like paste) into their nose to cover the smell. One friend started to show allergic reactions (probably due to animal dander). Plus on top you don’t have privacy. The host installed ring cameras on the house. And the house has a serious termite problem. (Termite frass was adding up everywhere on the floors in the house like crazy in the 3 days). Next morning I took the initiative and asked the host for someone to clean up the place but heard only excuses. The house and backyard is very small. You can’t go for a hike cause it’s residential area. So to do anything you’ll have to take the car and drive out and the driveway is super steep. The following night showering in that smelly bathroom the water wasn’t going down. I communicated this to the host and I did not even hear back! My text was ignored. I was very happy to check out on the 3rd day and suggested to the host to reimburse the cleaning fee cause the house was so dirty! Then he was able to respond immediately! With a false accusation that this is what I was after! Horrible experience with this person! Will never go back and cannot recommend this to anyone.

Great 2 bedroom cabin with easy access to rafting and hiking.

The cabin is located on a ridge and has everything you need. You are not completely secluded and you can hear the traffic coming from the road. The only draw back was that there were dead bugs and I saw a few live roaches in the kitchen. Aside from that, my kids really enjoyed it and we would stay there again.

The master bed is quite comfortable and there are plenty of extra blankets. The view from the firepit is nice at sunset and they provide plenty of firewood for your stay (which is great!). Without the firepit, there would have been very little draw for just hanging at the house, and it’s a bit overpriced for other comparable rentals, but it’s a decent and comfortable place to rest your head for day trips around the area. Oh, and the owner was VERY fast to respond to communication/questions. We give it an overall 7/10.

Loved the place. Everything my husband and I needed. Very comfortable and nice decor. TV and WiFi were great. Close to town. We enjoyed our stay very much.

The house is in a perfect spot for a mountain get away. It is convenient to several towns, hiking trails and stores. My family really enjoyed unwinding by the fire pit. Be sure to have AWD or 4WD to get up the driveway. There is no dinning table if you're looking for a family sit down meal experience which wasn't an issue for us, as we cooked over the fire. The house really was the perfect size for my family of four.

We had a great time staying at Bear Paw cabin. Had a little trouble with the key box but the owner was very quick to help. Great communication! This is a basic cabin, not luxury accommodations. It was clean and the beds were comfortable. The firepit was great and there was even a little view from the firepit area. I think this is the first time I have stayed anywhere that actually provided firewood. They even left fire starters and a long lighter. Very nice touch! The firepit area is very very dark at night, though. Be careful going up and down the porch steps. Maybe some cheap solar lights would be helpful in this area. Overall, great experience!

We greatly enjoyed out stay at Bill's cabin. Easy check-in and rooms were clean and organized. Enjoyed the decor and overall was well well stocked with necessities. Bill also responds very quickly to messages. Also a great location to get to many of the attractions in the area. Highly recommend!

From check in to check out, our experience here was great. The manager was polite and quick to respond with any questions. Communication was great! Cabin was extra clean with great amenities. It had everything we needed! We were comfortable and happy with everything. If you are looking for a great place to stay, this is it!

All in all this was a great place for our family to get away from the hustle and bustle. We have stayed in high end places through VRBO and although this was not that, it was great for us. Like they say it is all about location!

We enjoyed the great deck with a nice view and shade to enjoy the moutain air with privacy and tranquility as well as proximity to downtown and outdoor activities. The cabin was as promised, including cozy decorations and the comforts of home. Bill was helpful and quick to respond. We will be back when the opportunity arises. One note is that the road leading to the cabin is steep with several pot holes and needs repair, which is expected soon and is not under the owner's control. A low riding vehicle would likely have issues.

We really enjoyed our stay at Bear Paw Cabin. The accommodations were exactly right for our family. I wish the listing had warned me about the steepness and roughness of the road going up to the cabin, but once I drove it a few times, I was fine navigating it. The cabin was so quiet and restful. My family had a great stay! The cabin had everything we needed for a quiet retreat away to enjoy all that Western NC has to offer!

My husband and baby wanted to travel to the NC mountains for a long weekend. We had a great time at this hidden cabin. It was close to an Ingles which was nice. We spent one day in Highlands, and the next day in Cherokee. There is also a nice park in downtown Franklin we visited, and walked along the Little TN River. We would definitely come back to this cabin. There were a lot of nice touches. I especially liked the remote control fireplace. It was a fake fire, but I swear, I felt warmer when it was on. I want to get one for my home now! All in all, this is a great little place to visit, and was good for me and my husband and our toddler to enjoy. Thank you for letting us stay in your cute cabin.

Good location, close to grocery stores and restaurants. Which is very nice with a baby!

This property is exactly as described and is nicer in person than the pictures portray. It is in a great location- a very short drive to downtown franklin (5 mins), and there is a grocery story right around the corner. The road to it isn’t too terribly hard to navigate and there is flat parking and it’s easy to get in and out of the driveway. It was perfect for our family of 5. It has a more homey/quaint feel than some of the other cabin rentals (that feel more like they are styled exclusively for renting). We would definitely stay again. There isn’t a washer and dryer which was fine with us but just mentioning in case that’s an important feature to someone else. Thanks jones family for sharing your cabin with us!
