This recently renovated villa unites the authentic traditional Cycladic architecture with contemporary elements, creating an ultimate design experience. It consists of one master bedroom with en suite bathroom curved into the rock, a living room with a sofa bed, which can sleep up to 2 persons, one more separated bathroom, a loft with one bed and a fully equipped kitchen. The villa offers unique views to the cliff, the beautiful sunset and the village of Oia and it is ideal for a couple or a family, offering unforgettable relaxing and romantic moments. Offering a spacious terrace with volcano and Caldera views, Villa Calliope is located in Oia village. This self-catering, air-conditioned property, provides free WiFi throughout. Restaurants and shops can be reached within a short walk. The two-bedroom Villa Calliope is modernly furnished and features vaulted ceilings. It includes a kitchenette with a mini oven and a dining area. The seating area is fitted with a satellite TV and a DVD player. Its bathroom comes with free toiletries, a bathrobe and slippers. Overall stay was ok. There were few issues and Evelyn was nice to help fix the problems. The early checkin and smooth pickup was a plus. The panoramic view of the caldera was nice, and to be near the blue domes were special however, there was no privacy . We kept the blinds shut because many people in front were taking photos , talking loudly in all hours of the day and night , leaving trash in front of door and counter . A loud restaurant was above the balcony.. . The money spent was not justified in my opinion.

Evelyn managed the property and she is a delight. She sent tour and restaurant recommendations and even made a reservation for us when we couldn’t because of online stuff and nonsense. She arranged a car for arrival and departure. We are very grateful to her. The accomodation is quite spacious and very pretty. There were 4 of us including daughters 18 and 20. They each had a bed. The view from upper balcony is incredible. We tried hard not to feel superior to everyone coming to see the blue domes just a stones throw from Villa Calliope. It may be worth noting that the stairs to balcony are tight, some people may not be comfortable going up and down them. I would love to say I’ll be back but coming from Tasmania it is probably a once in a lifetime trip and one that we are all so pleased to have spent in this villa.

Lovely house, fantastic location
We loved every minute here! The house is near the top of the rim, so just a few steps up to the main walkway through Oia, with tons of great restaurants and shops nearby. This is a classic cave house. It was well-appointed and spotless. It has a huge rooftop terrace (accessed from a very steep outdoor stairway) with a hot tub, chairs, lounges, and sun sail. Outdoor privacy can be at a premium in Oia, but this rooftop has near-complete privacy ... we were pleasantly surprised. Be forewarned that one of the iconic Santorini photo op locations is in front of this house, which means that there are people lined up on the public path nearly all day, waiting to take photos with the gorgeous view as background. There is a short wall between the public path and the small front terrace and front doors, so people can definitely see into the house if doors and windows are open. It was not a problem for us because people were generally very respectful and rarely noisy. Great spot for people watching, and opportunities to meet people from all over the world. The photos on the VRBO listing don't do justice to the views from this house. Management was great and very responsive (Thank you, Antreas!) We arranged for a driver to bring us from the airport (Thank you, Theodore, at Vazeos Car Moto Rental!) Antreas met us at the drop-off point and carried our luggage to the house, and also did the same when we were leaving. We would definitely stay here again!

Villa Calliope is a delightful little property. Our family of five stayed there comfortably. As other reviewers have mentioned, you will have tourists right outside your door and window at every hour. We were there in early August, so perhaps at another time of year there is less traffic. The upper deck is a fantastic refuge from the constant stream of tourists posing for selfies on the lower level. (Someone even asked us to move out of their photo when we were exiting the property and locking up.)
That being said, there is a reason people are flocking to this location to take photos: it is as if you’ve jumped into a postcard at Villa Calliope.
As for the interior of the property, it is exactly as pictured. Very nicely update and appointed and maid service is available as requested. (She did a fabulous job.) I had a little trouble getting details on the property’s location prior to our arrival, which made me a bit nervous. However, it all worked out and our host was very responsive once we were on the island.
Overall, I’d stay at Villa Calliope again if it were during low season. I don’t know that I’d ever return to Santorini during high season; too many bodies on the island and a bit toasty.

Among the crowds in Oia

Beautiful view from deck
Villa Calliope was in a very convenient location in Oia, just 10 or so steps down from the main pedestrian area of the town, so you aren't bothered (especially with heavy luggage) by walking up or down a huge number of stairs to get to your accommodation, as seems to often be the case in Santorini. The private roof deck above the villa is truly spectacular. You have an incredible view of the caldera, with plenty of space to relax, have a drink, or eat a meal. You won't directly see the sunset on the horizon, however. Inside, the high ceilings are nice, as is the huge master bedroom. The other loft bedroom and bathrooms, are quite small, especially one of the showers (nearly unusable). The kitchen is tiny and you won't be doing any cooking in there, though having the refrigerator is certainly nice. It's important to know that from morning until sunset, there will be a relentless stream of tourists waiting in line and posing for photos right in front of the villa, as it is a perfect spot for the classic Santorini shot, given the amazing view. This is not bothersome from the roof deck. But from inside the villa, this will deter you from opening all your doors and windows, since it will only give you a view of the stream of shutterbugs and selfie stick wielders directly outside, and provide them with a direct view of you! Christina, the host, was helpful - she met us when we arrived by shuttle to guide us to the villa, as well as when we departed. She offered to arrange for transfers as well as book a sailing tour. She was reachable by phone as well. She even provided some coloring books, markers, and play dough for my 3 year old soon. All in all a nice stay, though one that epitomizes Santorini - stunningly beautiful and unique, but marred by the excessive number of tourists.
