We’ve been coming to Cape Charles for about 6 years now, and this was our least favorite property that we’ve stayed in. The location is great and the house is generally nice (the kitchen is especially great). The four bedrooms were nice for our family of 5. But we had multiple issues that were quite inconvenient, especially considering the cost of stay. The upstairs bathroom tub drain was clogged (property mgmt resolved this with Drano when we notified them). The downstairs bathroom shower was infested with small flying bugs and the shower was completely unusable. Property mgmt came and treated with bug spray, which didn’t resolve the problem but left horrible toxic fumes for the remainder of the week. So the downstairs bathroom was basically unusable. There were also ants throughout the kitchen and laundry area when we arrived. While the house has AC, two of the upstairs bedrooms do not have any sort of air flow and it was very warm at night. Even an oscillating fan would be a huge improvement. We had a couple other minor inconveniences that I won’t bother listing, but we were disappointed and I don’t think we’ll return to this property in the future.

Our family stayed at this property for Thanksgiving for the last two years. We enjoyed preparing meals in the spacious kitchen, playing board games, walking to the beach for spectacular sunsets and spending quality family time by the outdoor fire pit. Love the location, Cape Charles holiday traditions and the homes lovely decor.

The only downside is that most of the mattresses were terribly uncomfortable and springy, especially the queen bedroom at the top of the steps which is coated in some kind of plastic covering. I (a married adult) ended up sleeping on the bottom of one of the bunk beds with my kids. The house could benefit from an actual vacuum cleaner (a dust buster on a stick is provided), a larger trash can in the kitchen and an extra garbage can outside as it was already full from the previous renters when we checked for our vacation (trash is picked up on Tuesdays).

One frustration was that the wagon that was supposed to be provided was broken. I contacted the management company and was told there were none available. I feel like they should have done more to find one as it was specifically cited as provided to make the walk to the beach easier. I am 8 months pregnant and ended up having to drive b/c I couldn't carry all of the beach gear. So much was closed during our stay, I wish I had realized that in the spring Mon-Wed are slow days without many entertainment/restaurant choices. It seemed like things would open up beginning Thursday. All in all it was a nice stay and I would recommend this property to anyone heading to Cape Charles.

It was a perfect weekend away for a college girls’ reunion! It was located perfectly from the town and beach that we were able to walk everywhere. There is plenty to do with shopping, eating and relaxing.

Overall, I do not recommend this vacation rental. Reviewer Comments: Overall, we had a really great time here. The house appeared clean, has some really nice finishes, and had everything we needed. The location is great, close to everything (we had a golf cart). We had plenty of towels to get through the week. The rental company was very fast and responsive when we had trouble with the wifi password. The downsides we experienced; it was very rainy the day we arrived and there was a strong odor inside the house for the first couple of days. The neighbor is part of a cat rescue group, so there were cats all over the place outside (that wasn't a huge problem for us because our kids loved watching them). The back yard was nice, however it could have used a little tlc (grass was a little long, leaves on furniture, weeds growing).

The front porch of the house was the perfect spot for reading and drinking a glasss of wine in the evenings. The house is a short walk to the beach and the cute downtown area. We loved the big open kitchen. It was perfect for gathering the group for dinner and had plenty of space for a few people to be preparing food at the same time. The mudroom at the back of the house was such a good spot for storing beach bags and gear out of the main areas. One thing to note is that the stairs are quite steep for very small children, but that comes with staying in a beautiful, early-20th century house.
