Historic Farmhouse and horsefarm with trail riding and a pond.
About this house rental
Located in Allegheny River, this attractive house for £258 per night is a great option for your next break. Our property is a beautifully restored and expanded farmhouse located on scenic Route 6 in northwestern Pennsylvania. The 4-bedroom, 4 1/2 bath farmhouse is located on a working horse farm that covers more than 100 acres. We also have a charming adjoining cabin and chalet, if needed, at additional cost. All accommodations are heated and cooled with our new geo thermal system. We have a sledding hill, a 1.5 mile finished trail great for cross country runs and also a small lake on the property too, perfect for swimming and canoeing. Guided horse back trail rides on our beautiful property are also available, weather permitting. We rebuilt the Galloping Inn as a labor of love, with the vision of creating an ideal destination for social getaways, unique recreation and enjoyment of the environment. It’s really very special. The farmhouse dates back to the mid 1850's and is one of the oldest structures in the area. When we restored it, we did so with an eye for preservation, style and modern comfort. The kitchen is awesome. Newly remodeled with all new appliances and features a large granite table that seats ten. People have come here for many years to escape their everyday routine and to have a stress free experience. It’s a freestanding destination, meaning you can do just about anything you want. The location is very private and there is lots of space so if you share the place with other friends or families, you’ll have plenty of room to yourself. You can play some music, go for a hike, explore the nearby foothills, streams and lakes, cook a big meal, ride horses, whatever makes you happy. The thing everyone seems to appreciate most is the fresh air, freedom and comfortable warmth highlighted by our selection of top quality bedding. We built a bar in the great room which is adjacent to the kitchen. There is an entertainment room upstairs which is a perfect place for the kids to watch movies (someone was really thinking there). There are two large decks off the back of the house where you can take in the evening sun. And the back lawn is large enough for your choice of outdoor games. If you feel like doing some exploring, there are lots of things to do nearby. Within a 30 minute drive you can rent boats and cruise the waters of the Allegheny Reservoir, visit the charm of Chautauqua, or enjoy golfing the undulated hills of many great courses including Peek ‘n Peak. For additional space, you can also rent the cabin, located across the driveway from the farmhouse. It sleeps four people and has a king bed, pullout couch, full bath and kitchenette. It also has a covered porch and overlooks the barn and stables. That rents for $295 for the weekend, $140 each additional night. The Chalet, up the driveway about 1/8 mile from the farmhouse, overlooks the pond and is very comfortable and spacious. It has 3 bedrooms, 2 full baths, open concept kitchen and great room. The chalet rents for $675 a weekend and $250 each additional night. Give us a call and we’ll tell you more about the place. Keywords: Restored Farmhouse

Our family spent the Thanksgiving holiday at this property. We rented both the house, sportsman and the cabin for 12 people and had plenty of space. The granite kitchen island is large enough for a group of people to gather and eat.
There is plenty of bathrooms and sitting areas for all of us.
The highlight of our stay was the grounds. Amazing! The horses and hiking trails was an added bonus to our "Hallmark Holiday"

Great property with plenty of room inside and out. Very private and the owners were very responsive. We had a very rainy weekend but the space inside made it a nonissue.
The outdoor space was perfect for kids of all ages. Hope to visit again.

The whole family enjoyed the property. Kids loved watching and petting the horses. Loved the pond swimming, fishing, canoeing and playing on the beach.
The adults enjoyed the large deck at the chalet for evening gatherings. The large side porch at the farm house was great for our large family dinner.
Communication with the owner was very efficient.

The Galloping Inn provided a wonderful getaway for our family. We enjoyed swimming in the pond, riding horses and sitting around the fire pit until late in the evening chatting and making smores. Thank you for sharing this gem in small town Pennsylvania with us!

We had great experience with the house. The children were enjoying the backyard, the campfire, the pond for canoe and fishing my son did a lot of catch and release. Our children were able to do the horse ride and the staff were geat, this was the best time for us so far. Thank you for everything.

This was a great property for our winter family getaway over the long February weekend. We hiked the property, went trail riding, enjoyed the fireplace and porch swing, and gathered around the huge kitchen table for family meals. Peek 'n Peak snow tubing and pool complex were fun excursions an easy half hour drive away. Accommodations were clean, comfortable and well-stocked. Everyone (three generations) gave it two thumbs up and wants to come back to see it in the fall.

We had a wonderful time staying together with extended family. The accommodations were great, and all the kids loved seeing the animals and riding the horses.

From the campfires and hikes to roaming the barn and riding horses. Our large family, kids ranging newborn to 8, had an amazing time. The huge yard and covered porches meant we could stay outside, even when it was raining. The fully stocked kitchen allowed us to make our big family style meals. And the barn staff couldn’t have been more wonderful to chat with and accommodating to the kids.
This was a trip to remember. Thank you!

The farmhouse was very quant and the bedrooms were generously sized with sitting areas inside 3 of the bedrooms and another outside of the 4th one. Kitchen was quite large and more than accommodated our group of 5 adults and 2 teens. The grounds were gorgeous and the horseback riding and trails were wonderful.

We traveled with 3 families with our teenagers and dogs. We enjoyed all of the great space in the farmhouse, walking the grounds, swimming in the pond and taking horseback rides. This is our new go to happy place!

We all absolutely loved this house, this is just what we were looking for. Many 1st memories were made here. Being on a horse farm was a highlight for my granddaughters. The pond was wonderful for my dogs. My grandson just loved running around the property. We really didn't leave the property because there was so much to do. We Star gazed, cook Hot Dogs and s’mores in the fire pit. This was a very relaxing vacation. The barn was definitely our go to with the grandkids, they were fantastic with them. Zoey was so patient with my youngest granddaughter (19 months) . She finally was able to get her comfortable enough sit with her and give her a ride. My husband and I rode too! We saw bear tracks, many deer and the barn cat that really didn’t live there. My oldest enjoyed running the trails. All in all it was a fantastic vacation. Thank you Jenn & Joe for sharing you home with us.
Also, we were wondering what part of the house was the orginal structure. My husband and boys were trying to figure it out

This farm house is amazing. My 13 year old got to ride in the pond with the horses. Sable was wonderful. She also took the younger ones on a ride around the pond. The went for a ride in the canoe. The house was very clean and relaxing. Everyone had a great time! Can't wait to book for next year.

Our extended family of 14 came from other parts of Pennsylvania, Connecticut and Wisconsin to enjoy the Galloping Inn for the second year in a row! We sunbathed, swam and canoed at the lake; did some sightseeing in the area; prepared meals in the well equipped kitchen; ate on the spacious deck and played games in the beautiful yard. Each evening we gathered at the fire pit to chat and make s’mores. It was a wonderful experience for our far-flung family who otherwise don’t have the opportunity to be together. We plan to make this an annual event. I know other families will enjoy this beautiful property no matter the age range.

Beautiful farmhouse property with comfy beds and plenty of outside activities. Best part was the horseback riding! Our young girls had a blast on the 1 hour ride through the woods. Perf t place for friends or family reunion.

We brought our youth group to the galloping inn. The property and outdoor space are nice. We had a few miscommunications with the hosts. Just be advised that when bringing a large group, the max amount of people it says on the listing is for the farmhouse and all the additional spaces not just the farmhouse. We were disappointed with the listing saying that the base package includes the parlor, the roost, and the suite. It does not include a suite, they have the sportsman suite that is an additional cost. We felt the description was a bit confusing.

The property and house were beautiful. Imagine getting up every morning, bringing your coffee to the deck and watching the horses in the fields grazing. My idea of heaven. We had a wide range of ages and there was plenty to do, with horse back riding, the pond and the close proximity to Panama Rocks and Peak N Peak. We have been doing family vacations for about three years now, and everyone agreed this was the best.

The house and property are fantastic! We had a small group this time, but we'd love to have a family reunion here. The kitchen is great, with room for a big group. We really enjoyed hiking the property, and taking a trail ride through the forest. The drive to Corry was not long and the accommodations were much better than anything in the town. Thanks Jennifer and Joe for your restoration of this property!

The Galloping Inn hosted 17 of us for a long father's day weekend. (10 adults 7 children.13-17) Horse back riding was on property, so was fishing, campfire and hiking. Skies were pitch black Milky Way was visible to the naked eye. Facilities were clean and tidy. Look forward to another trip to this wonderful location.

This place is amazing. There is plenty of space and it has breathtaking views. The horses are amazing and some of us rode them. Unfortunately the first day it rained, but no one can do anything about it. I would recommend this place to everyone.

I have booked numerous rentals, and was disappointed upon arrival with inaccurancy of the properties listing information. However, this property is absolutely beautiful! We booked all three buildings, and the chalet is spectacular! The views of the pond, mountains, horses in the field, and seclution was perfect!! The farmhouse was wonderful for our family meals, and everyone had plenty of space to sleep and enjoy each other's company. I would recommend this to anyone.

I loved this property, the house, the horses! It was all I (and my family) needed to entertain ourselves and have an enjoyable vacation. Horseback riding (with Leslie & Jessie who were both awesome), the pond and the relaxation of the fire pit and porch were all perfectly amazing. We have already been talking about when we could plan a time to bring friends back to this cozy farmhouse.

I'm busy and would rather not say any more than I already have.

We were unable to reach the owner the day we arrived and discovered the air conditioning didn’t work in the cottage on a hot day. It could be a charming old house, but needs better maintenance and cleaning. The horses were a positive note. LOTS more to the story, but we would never want to return.

Friends and I had a great time on the horse ranch. So much to do. Horseback riding, pond fishing, hikes, firepit. The rain did not stop us. The dogs had so much. We loved how each couple had their own "suite". We even took a short drive to Panama rocks and southern tier brewery. Great place!

Our second Boston-Centerville rendezvous at The Galloping Inn was as wonderful as our first! We enjoyed chatting by the fire pit, trail-hiking on the gorgeous property, fishing in the pond, and snuggling with the adorable, friendly barn cats! Callie's brood of two-week old kittens were a fabulous and unexpected bonus! The charming farmhouse was super clean and offered a cozy, yet spacious, and inviting place for meals, games, movies, and a birthday party for our grandson!Jennifer, once again, was terrific in promptly answering all our questions. It was so great to have actually met her and Joe as they were on their way back home, which gave us the opportunity to benefit from Joe's expert fishing advice!Thank you for another great visit and the opportunity to create some tremendous family memories!Wendy Devine

Such a wonderful stay. Lovely nights around the fire pit or the great indoor fireplace. Beautiful hiking on the property. Got the chance to ride horses which was amazing- very friendly but energetic and gentle horses. Our puppy played in the stream along the trail and in the pond, even tried the canoe. We did longer hikes in Allegheny National Forest and Oil Creek State park where we also went fishing. Always nice to come back to the rustic and cozy farmhouse. You must meet these barn cats! Most friendly cats I’ve ever met!! One was clearly pregnant and after she insisted in sitting in one of our laps around the fire all day ultimately went into labor and gave birth to 5 kittens. Right in front of us! Even the next day she kept coming out to get us to follow her back to see them. Kids want to go back in a few weeks to see them growing up! A great chance to see farm life for those of us stuck in the burbs. Kids loved it and want to move there!

We chose to stay at The Galloping Inn because it was about a half hour from Peek n Peak and there was horse riding available on site! The horse barn is maybe 20 feet away from the Farmhouse. Leslie and her family were great at accommodating us and working with the kids and scheduling the rides, messaged her a couple days before per thegallopinginn.com website instructions. The house has a grill outback and cpicnic tables that were an added bonus we weren't aware of. We had ice this weekend due to weather, but we did find rocksalt that was helpful! Beds were comfy, extra pillows in closets. Rustic feel and plenty of space for 8 people in the main farmhouse, though I'm sure you could sleep more on the many couches. We obtained internet access but couldn't get the Dish service to work, but were so busy it didn't bother us. Haha. The fireplace was great to gather around.Lunar lights tubing was awesome at peek n peak! We also reserved pool time! We did order from a restaurant just down the road from the Inn that had Prime Rib available on Saturdays and prices were reasonable. There was a Wal-Mart supercenter about 10 minutes away, too. I'm sure in the summer months this place is an even better experience! The rooms had air conditioners too, and an extra griddle was available for our big breakfast. Thank you for the memories!

We were looking for a last minute escape from the routine of covid-restricted suburbia and this place couldn't have been better. The farmhouse was unique yet fully equipped with everything we could want/need. Outside we enjoyed visiting the horses and barn cats and the sled riding hill was the perfect amount of speed without a massive climb back to the top. This is definitely a place we hope to come back to in the summer to enjoy the pond and horseback riding as well.
