Dillon Beach, one of California’s most scenic, is just down the hill, and spectacular views are everywhere: unobstructed vistas extending from Tomales Bay to Bodega Head and across to Point Reyes. This is a unique multi-story home filled with charm and character, built on a bluff overlooking the Pacific Ocean, surrounded by open space, nature, and wildlife. We stayed in this home for our Thanksgiving holiday. The house has so much character and my family had a great time. We loved the views of the ocean and rolling hills with plenty of cows and deer to watch. Awesome hiking trail just a few steps away.

The home was fun and quirky. However there is evidence of a serious mouse infestation that needs attention. Mouse droppings on beds, pillows, dressers, and floors in all downstairs bedrooms as well as kitchen and dining area. To her credit the host got a cleaning crew in right away and offered a one night refund. There were no other available options nearby so we stayed the 2nd night with all lights on to discourage the critters from coming out of hiding. We made the best of it and got some stunning pictures. Even with the partial refund (would have been nice to see some of the extra fees reduced since they make up nearly 50% of total cost) it was an expensive lesson.

Such a magical place! The house is incredibly charming, the views were incredible, owners were very responsive and communicative. Would definitely stay again. A true gem of a house.

A venerable, large beach house with spectacular views. Although a bit worn, it’s very comfortable and well appointed. Many art objects and souvenirs of many cultures. A great collection of books and reading materials. Well worth the stay.

Very interesting house! Awesome views! Great hiking in the cow pasture north of house. I’d return just to hike on that land. Neighbor across the street barked at me the second I parked on the street to pack our van… but… I understand- got to follow the rules!!!

This is the second time we’ve stayed in this house, and we had a great time. Beautiful sunsets, gorgeous hikes from the house, and a great kitchen. We’ll be back!

What a wonderful place! Unpretentious but lovely, comfortable home with great art and decor. We braved the last atmospheric river to be at this place, and it was totally worth all the travel angst. We barely left the house to pick up supplies, we didn't need to. Everything as advertised, and Linda was just great in allowing us the possibility to reschedule our trip should the storm prove too much. All four of us were thrilled with our mini chick trip and ready to visit this place again. Pretty much at the end of the development, it was private and as delightful as any place I've stayed at through VRBO. We absolutely loved it! Soooooo glad we found this lovely home! Love the owner's taste in art and decor, but my favorite piece was/were the nesting Russian dolls. Uttterly classic!

We really enjoyed out family vacation to this charming house perched high on the hill with spectacular vistas overlooking Bodega bay. Great hikes down to the beach (even for teenagers) We played scrabble at night. Even my kids enjoyed it (I think). The house was full of lovely keepsakes from around the world. Fell in love with the place. Thanks for having us

The house felt private because of how it is situated and the panoramic views are breathtaking. It’s perfect in every way. I hope we can stay here again!

My husband and 6 yr old adored this house. We spent a couple of nights here. The views are amazing, the house was lovely and more than accommodated the three of us. We spent most of our time outside and down at the water. The hot tub was a delight to return to after a loooong walk to the beach. Already book marked this property for another stay!

We’re all seniors and I guess I misread the property description. I assumed that “3 downstairs bedrooms and one upstairs” meant three on the main level. No. There are 3 bedrooms down a set of stairs that turn twice. One of our party fell part way down the stairs. Then there are a couple steps to get to the kitchen, a couple to get to the dining room and a couple to get to the living room. So if you have any mobility issues, this house isn’t ideal. Other than that, the house is about as high on the bluff as you can get, and the views are spectacular. I rated the cleanliness 4 stars because the windows weren’t clean and so the view was a little hazy. Also, the owners are obviously world-wide travelers and there are pictures and knick knacks everywhere. I was afraid I would “lose” my things in the midst of all of the owners things, but I’m pretty sure I got everything except for a mirror.
There’s a public beach a little over a mile from the house, downhill. In the other direction is a private ranch with a walk-through gate and trails to spectacular rocks and the bluff. We saw many deer and turkeys. Sebastopol is close for groceries, and Sonoma and Petaluma are also close.
The hot tub was wonderful, but again if you have mobility issues you may not be able to get in. The outside patio was nice in the afternoon when the sun shining inside made the living room too hot.
All in all, we enjoyed our stay and visited many nearby wineries.

We loved this house! It had everything we needed for an all-too-short north coast break. The views were stunning, but be warned - there is a LOT of fog on the coast in summer and for the first couple of days we could barely see the ocean. When the fog finally lifted, we were just blown away by the amazing vistas. We had more than enough space for our party of 5, everything was in working order, and there were so many unique personal touches that made it feel like we were staying in someone's home (which I guess we were!) rather than an impersonal hotel. For instance, the unique copper tub in the downstairs bathroom and the interesting books and knick-knacks (which, unlike what a previous review said, did not "cover every surface" but rather were tastefully arranged throughout the house, with plenty of space available for guests' use).The absolute highlight of our stay was the 1 mile path from the top of the road (steps away from the house) leading to a private beach and lagoon. The views along the ocean bluff are jawdropping. (Be aware, though, that the last few hundred feet to the beach are very steep, so actually getting to the beach is only for the intrepid - but the rest of the walk is relatively easy and well worth it.)
In all, we had a wonderful stay and we wish we could have stayed longer.
