Nov 2017We spent a lovely weekend in Rockland in this great cottage. Maureen was a welcome and gracious host with lots of suggestions for our visit, and the cottage was convenient to all the downtown attractions. Read more

Aug 2021We had a most enjoyable stay. Maureen was a delight. She reviewed the details of the property in advance, and was gracious enough to meet us when we arrived. She was also kind enough to have a bottle of champagne waiting for us to help celebrate our honeymoon. The accommodations were warm and comfortable. The house had everything we needed.
In addition to a lot of books she provided plenty of information and brochures about Rockland, its restaurants and attractions, as well as information about the surrounding communities. The location was an easy walk to Main Street, the harbor, and all the amenities the community offered. It was also a great starting point to visit other sites in the region. We had an excellent stay, didn't want to leave, and we very much look forward to staying there again! Thank you Maureen for your generous hospitality!!! Read more

Sep 2017We enjoyed our stay very much.
ProseHaven offers spacious and comfortable accommodations,
essentially a duplex format, with your own kitchen, dining/living,
and (2)bed/bath space.
Maureen was very courteous and helpful as host, offering dining and recreational recommendations, and very respectful of our privacy.
It was an easy walk into resourceful Downtown Rockland, with the Farnsworth (Wyeth) Museum, good dining and shopping !
We loved our stay in mid-coast Maine ! We recommend it very highly ! Read more

Sep 2018We enjoyed a great week in Rockland and want to thank our host, Maureen, for providing such a nice place to call home while we were there. We were very comfortable, with everything we needed in the house (the bottle of wine we found in the fridge was a lovely touch) and Prosehaven was perfectly situated for everything we wanted to do and see while in Maine. We were nearby many lighthouses, parks and small towns and were able to travel up and down many of the nearby peninsulas. Every late afternoon, a short ten-minute walk would get us into downtown Rockland. We would walk the boardwalk right on the harbor, as well as peruse the many shops and restaurants in town. We even spent a day at Acadia National Park - only 90 miles away. It was a wonderful week. Read more

Jun 2018We are from Ireland and felt right at home there. The property is so close to town yet feels like a perfect quiet little getaway once back.
Everything works and the property owner Maureen was so accommodating to all our needs.
The only bad thing about the experience was having to leave the beautiful house at the end of or stay :) Read more

Aug 2018This is a nice place to read a book. I love these period houses anyway, I grew up in one so there is a familiarity about them. Quiet and comfortable with all the necessities, step out the door and it's a short walk to downtown where there is plenty of good everything from restaurants, museums coffee shops, bookstores and the harbor. In the summertime you could drive, but the closest parking spot could be the driveway your car is already parked in. Maureen was quick to make sure I was comfortable, then quick to ensure I had my privacy. If you want to instantly feel like you're part of a small town community, this neighborhood has that vibe. There is no bathroom downstairs so if you're disabled it might not work. Other than that I would recommend this place to anyone visiting Rockland. Read more

Sep 2021Prosehaven is a lovely old house with many thoughtful touches that make one want to stay for a long time. My husband and I love this sort of place and we immediately felt at home. Rockland and vicinity offer so much and Maureen had a list of restaurants and activities that was very helpful. We were sorry to leave. Read more

Jun 2019Maureen was the most gracious hostess! She was there to answer any question and to even provide a little emergency coffee creamer!
As far as the accommodations, everything was provided that you could possibly need! We were able to do laundry, cook when we wanted, relax in the evening with T.V., or just a book! Downtown Rockland was just a couple of blocks away with many restaurant choices, shops and a beautiful bay! We loved the old house and if stairs are not an issue, I definitely recommend this quiet, lovely place to everyone. Read more

Jun 2018Maureen made us feel at home and gave helpful information about this organized and well equipped house which made comings and goings a breeze. Guests should know that this 1804 house has tight and narrow stairs and passages, the bathroom being especially cramped. This is a very affordable accommodation. Read more

Aug 2017I recently spent two weeks at Prosehaven. It's wonderful! Just a short walk to town and its many restaurants, shops and even the Farnsworth Museum, not to mention its proximity to the water! Maureen was gracious, generous and accommodating, concerned with making sure I had everything I needed. I will be back the next time I come to Rockland. Read more

Sep 2019Interesting older Maine property owned by interesting writer Maureen. The two levels make it feel larger and more house-like. Also has a number of separate rooms - living, dining, kitchen, porch as well as the bedrooms. There was a nice touch with multiple gourmet treats waiting for me on the counter when I arrived. Thank you. Look forward to next time. Read more

Sep 2017A lovely house in an ideal location with the best host ever! Beautifully furnished, it is clean, comfortable, and ever so "New England." At Prose Haven, you are truly walking distance from the exquisite offerings of Rockland, ME, the Arts Capital of the Great State of Maine. World class galleries, museums, eateries, shops, and architecture-- my God, the architecture!-- is almost beyond belief in a town of 7,200 people. I sent a friend of mine a picture of Main Street, and he said, "That's not a town, that's a movie set!" Thank you Maureen, and Prose Haven, for the best Home Away I have ever had! Read more
