Nestled in hydra, this lovely entire house for £372 per night is a great option for your next trip. Nicaela's House is a stunningly renovated traditional Hydra island home to rent for 2 couples or a family of 4 to share. Nicaela's overlooks Kamini Harbour and is a short stroll to the nearest beach at Castello or to the local restaurants & tavernas. Impeccably finished and furnished, the house offers comfortable accommodation with two double bedrooms, both with queen-size beds, two shower rooms, downstairs living room, upstairs sitting room, two very large outside dining terraces, well equipped kitchen, air-conditioning in every room, as well as strong WiFi. A comfortable adult size inflatable air bed, and a port-a-crib are available, upon request. The views are stunning and everything is easy to get to. Should you be interested in renting another larger house, in addition to, or instead of Nicaela’s, please check out the other house we own on Hydra. Freddy’s is a beautiful 4 bedroom villa that is a five minute walk from Nicaela’s. See HA #3527786. For those who choose Nicaela’s, we offer a hotel standard of hospitality, professionalism and friendly service. We want to reassure you that we will be on hand and available to help and guide you even before you arrive. So if you have any questions about what to expect, how to get here or you have any other questions about the house or Hydra, please don't hesitate to ask. We live on the island and are available thoughout your stay. What you see on our pages and in our reviews indicates the level of service and standard of accommodation we strive for. What you see is what we ensure you get. Well built paths and steps wind between the pretty houses of lower Kamini to reach Nicaela's and it's an easy stroll up to the house from Kamini Harbour. The house is a true 'country retreat' with it's unique position creating the illusion that you could be miles from anywhere. Of course you aren't because the nearest beach is just a few hundred meters at Castello over the brow of the hill to one side and the wonderful tavernas of Kamini a similar distance the other way. But the illusion is maintained by the peace and quiet at Nicaela's because it stands removed from the rest of the village houses. You just hear the gentle buzz of cicades, the occassional distant bray of a mule and perhaps the throb of a sea taxi leaving Kamini Harbour below. From the carefully managed 'rural' atmosphere of the outside, you walk into Nicaela's house from the terrace into a different world of casual comfort! The transition is gorgeous: cool white and muted grey decoration, comfortable seating, ingenious tables, every appliance and furnishing kept in excellent working condition to make sure that you will feel pampered and 'at home'. Downstairs Downstairs there is an open plan living space with a double bedroom to one side and the kitchen and first shower room to the other. The kitchen is equipped with a washing machine, dishwasher, electric oven & stove, a fridge/freezer, microwave, toaster, kettle and coffee maker as well as a plenty of utensils, saucepans, crockery, cutlery, glasses and serving dishes. The kitchen has everything that a good cook would need. The downstairs shower room has a W.C., hand basin with a vanity unit with mirror, excellent lighting (so you can do you make up ladies) and there is a hair-dryer provided so you don't have to bring one with you. There are plenty of fluffy bathroom towels (but please use the beach towels that are provided for outside use). You will also find an iron and board at the house so you don't have to be worried about looking crumpled when you go out! The downstairs Double Bedroom has plenty of drawer space, and clothes hanging space so you can unpack. Both bedrooms have very comfortable, and new, queen-sized bed. This room has attractive sea facing views to the front and a window that looks west. Both windows have internal wooden shutters so you can close out the heat of the afternoon sun if you prefer not to use the air-conditioning. Upstairs The upper floor of the house very much like a private suite. At the top of the stairs from the lower floor you walk into a sitting room. On one side of the sitting room is the upstairs bathroom, with shower, sink and toilet. On the other side of the sitting room is a second bedroom, with a double bed, and beautiful light and views. The feeling of spaciousness is enhanced by the hand-crafted wooden ceilings, as is the traditional style of Hydra homes. As with the downstairs bedroom, you will find plenty of hanging and drawer space so you can unpack. The en-suite bathroom is also supplied with toiletries and a hair-dryer. Outside Living Nicaela's features three separate terraces, each with stunning views of the sea, and the village of Kamini. The middle terrace functions as an extension of the living room and kitchen area, and features a custom made teak dining table for six, an outdoor cooking area, and two elegant sun umbrellas. The lower terrace is huge and has plenty of new comfortable deck chairs for lounging around and taking in the views. It also has a really cool outdoor shower area disguised by the cypress tree on the lower terrace, and a custom made antique marble sink. There's even a thoughtfully placed set of hooks to hang your towels on to dry when you come back from the beach! Hospitality Your Hosts, Dino and Trina Bradlee, keep the house to a very high standard and leave all the information you might need in the house folder so you can find your way around not only the house but where the local restaurants are, how to call a sea taxi, getting to the beach and emergency information etc. We are aware of the fact that our guests are particularly charmed by the privacy, so once you are settled in, we will leave it up to you to contact us if you need help. We are very sociable though, so if you'd like to be introduced to the many and various delights of Hydra, it will be out pleasure! We also own another house on Hydra that we rent, which is a short distance from Nicaela's. If you should need a larger house, or require an additional house besides Nicaela's, please see the listing for "Freddy's", Homeaway #3527786. Together, the two houses total 6 large, beautiful private bedrooms, (for a total accomodation of 12 guests between the two houses), all with magnificent ocean views. Read more

Perfect place for a reunion!
We were thrilled with our stay at Nicaela’s because even though it’s close to the beach and the little tavernas in Kamini Harbour, it was so peaceful. Just the gentle buzz of the cicadas and the occasional throb of a sea taxi leaving the little harbour below. In fact it gave the illusion that it’s remote because there are no other houses close by so we really enjoyed chatting for hours on the terrace catching up with nearly 10 years of news, sitting under the stars without feeling like we were disturbing anyone! It’s also very easy to go up and connect with an excellent countryside walk going inland to Vlychos, not that we ventured far very often because it was so easy to while away the day just viewing the scenery and not doing much really! We had a bedroom and bathroom each with the luxury of super comfortable queen-sized beds. The WiFi was really good so we could play music on our laptops. The house is delightful, really thoughtfully laid out and very comfortable. The air-conditioning was super efficient but we didn’t need to have it on much because the house was quite cool anyway. The kitchen had everything we needed when we ate at home and we loved the novel miniature coffee tables that Dino, the owner, had made. The outside is divine. The terraces and balconies are almost wrap around and the views just breath-taking. We really enjoyed the unusual outside shower too; disguised by a cypress tree, it was a perfect place to cool off during sunbathing when we didn’t want to traipse through the house. Be warned, you need flat shoes if you go left down the hill to the beach at Castello because you walk across a slope of the hill along a goat track (impossible to do in heels) but you can get down to the little harbour easily if you go down the beautifully made up steps that go right from the house. Even though it seems like it’s above everything it’s really easy to reach because the lanes and steps are in really good repair. Dino’s wife Trina was great too and made sure we knew where the hair-dryer was, gave us plenty of towels and organised home delivery by mule from the local supermarket! We wanted somewhere we could relax and unwind and have time to catch up - it was just perfect in every way. We have decided to make our reunion an annual event so long as we can always stay at Nicaela’s - we might even let our partners come next time (well maybe ….). Read more

Greek traditional with contemporary design
We LOVED staying at Nicaela’s House on Hydra! What a blissful get-away, first to an island with no cars, and second, to a cozy hilltop villa outside the main town, with an unbelievable view! From the beautiful terraces in front of the house, and from most of the windows, there’s a sweeping view of the blue, blue sea and the Pelopponese on the other side of the Saronic Gulf. Dino and Trina have thought of everything to make the place welcoming for a visiting family, from the choices of comfortable bedding to the original art on the walls. Since there are no cars on the island, the hosts have gone to the trouble of stocking the efficient kitchen with supplies from the local grocery stores so that you don’t have to. But the big pleasure of staying here is the tranquility of its location, and the traditional Greek island life style that makes you feel like you’re in another century. The interior is new and beautifully designed, just as you see in the photos. Thank you, Dino and Trina! We’ll be back! Read more

Traditional Greek house with a spectacular view
We had a delightful family holiday on the beautiful island of Hydra. Nicaela’s House has a spectacular, more-than-180-degree, view of the village of Kamini, encompassing the island’s rich architectural grander as well as the glorious blue of the Saronic Gulf. From all of the rooms (except the bathrooms) one can view the deep blue Aegean. Lounging on the spacious terraces in tranquility became a favorite pastime. We can’t rave enough about the location and its proximity to swimming as well as the views. The house is tastefully renovated and well equipped. Our hosts Dino and Trina, Americans who live nearby, show obvious pride in their ownership of Nicaela’s House, and they are attentive and delightful. The perfect getaway and family vacation.  Read more

A delightful Greek house on the beautiful island of Hydra
This a simple, but delightful, two-story Greek house situated above Kamini harbour. Plentiful terraces, outstanding views and close to great swimming spots, it is free-standing and therefore quieter and more private than houses around the main harbour. Dino and Trina are friendly hosts and always helpful. Read more

Stunning house on top of the hill
Now I should start out by pointing out that "top of the hill" at Hydra can be brutal. But not here, being slightly above the other houses in Kamini makes the walk easy and the reward huge. There are a few immediate things that comes to mind thinking about our wonderful 2 week stay at Niceaelas House - The wonderful view, the spotless finish of the carefully newly renovated building, obviously done by someone with a great eye for design and details and the fact that there was always a perfect breeze blowing cooling down the heat. Also Dino and Trina were the perfect hosts, always giving it their best to make our stay perfect. This is our second stay in "the suburbs" of Kamini and we love it here. Its just like a very small Greek village where it only takes a day to become best friend with Dimitra running the small local food store. And there are a perfect mix of small local restaurants at an arm lengths distance. A few steps away is the Castello beach with great food and price worthy sun beds. When you want the feel "the puls" you take the short 10 minutes walk in to the port, or just call for a taxi boat. The house was perfect for us, a family of four. It was very well equipped with all we needed, including kitchen tools, dishwasher and washing machine. And not to forget a brand new AC in each of the room. Almost the feel of an hotel - with towels, soaps and endless supply of bottled water. All in one word - Wonderful. Next time we go back to Hydra we will no doubt contact Dino and Trina again. Thanks from Björn, Pia, Alma & Zack.  Read more
