Located in Onetangi, this attractive entire house for £88 per night is a fantastic option for your next break. Very private, peaceful bach surrounded by beautiful native bush. 2 mins drive to Onetangi beach, vineyards, and several restaurants.
Large deck, BBQ, hammock and swing. Two boogie boards, portacot, highchair, books, board games, and an in-tune steel string guitar.
10 mins walk to bus stop, a large Four Square supermarket, takeaways and bottle shop. 12 mins walk to white silicon sand of Onetangi beach with crystal clear water which is very safe for swimming.
The new Onetangi Four Square supermarket opened in Dec 2021 next to the Onetangi petrol station and bus stop . It stocks everything you could possible need, and is only 10 mins walk from the bach.
Activities within 5 mins drive from the bach include; Onetangi beach, golf course, tennis courts, horse riding, Stonyridge vineyard, Casita Miro restaurant, Heke Brewery and Distillery, Te Motu Restaurant, Wild on Waiheke) and three bars/restaurants on Onetangi beach (Three Seven Two, Charlie Farley's and Ki Maha).
Our traditional kiwi bach ideal for romantic couples or small families wanting to experience something special in native bush and uniquely Waiheke, while being close enough to all the Island has to offer. We have two heat pumps which make the bach cozy and warm in winter, but cool in the summer.
Amazing birdlife surrounds the bach including; tui, fantails, kaka, parrots, native wood pigeons, and morepork (native owls) calling at night. Glow worms can be seen at night 2 minutes walk up the road (turn left out of the drive).
The bedroom is upstairs on a mezzanine floor with a double and single bed. The stairs to the bedroom are quite steep. There is a handrail on the stairs, but our bach may not suit elderly or people with mobility difficulties.
A small stream runs through the property, with a few fish in it. Please keep an eye on small children and NO fishing please!
The Onetangi bus from the Ferry takes you to within 10 mins walk of the bach. Get off at the Onetangi petrol station (approx 20 minutes ride from the Matiatia ferry terminal.

Special conditions:
Two night minimum stay apart from summer high season and public holiday weekends (3 nights). Unless advised differently, check-in after 2.00 pm and check-out at 11.00 am. Public and School Holidays are peak rates. Bedding and towels are provided at no extra cost, and there's no additional cleaning fee or bond to pay. Please bring own beach towels. Help yourself to anything in the fridge and tea, coffee, sugar, herbs and spices, cooking oil, jams and vegemite etc. Parking on the road is recommended as the driveway is loose metal and a bit steep for a 2 WD car. Bring torch if arriving after dark.

Jan 2020We stayed here for 5 nights, this was our second visit. Beautifully quiet hideaway in the bush. We taxied to and from the ferry, and got buses to Oneroa and Ostend. Walked to the beach daily. House was just perfect for our family of 3.

Jan 2022We really enjoyed our stay as the bach is tucked away from it all and completely private while still only a few minutes from Onetangi beach. The place is well equipped from the coffee machine to the guitar and the art is fantastic. A perfect cozy little hideaway in between beach visits.
The bush was great given the sun and heat we experienced, but I imagine it can feel quite damp in wet weather.
Definitely bring mosquito nets or a handful of plug-in mozzie repellers and some power boards if you want to keep windows open. Read more

Jun 2020My husband and I were in need of a nature escape, after the lockdown stresses. The Nikau Cottage is beautiful, with great artistic decor, lovely nikau bush and native birds, close to the local beach and bars/restaurants, and really has everything you could possibly need! We enjoyed reading a book and playing Scrabble, or a glass of wine listening to the native bird songs!

Mar 2020Lovely little secluded bach with a well-stocked kitchen, bathroom with a picture window looking into the palm forest (really!), and comfortable beds. The window seat is perfect for curling up with a book. Pleasant 10 minute walk to bus or beach. Do note there is no tv or wifi (this is a REAL getaway) and phone reception may be patchy depending upon your provider. Also, there are mozzies (sprays and plug in repellents provided).
