Pirate's Reef is a NEW and beautifully decorated residence that offers 5 spacious bedrooms (2 master suites!) with 4.5 bathrooms, full finished basement with wet bar and combo pool table/table tennis, and accommodates up to 12 guests.
This is the PERFECT vacation home for you and your guests. This home is nestled behind the historic Shearer Cottage on a quiet lane in East Chop, located just minutes away from all the charm and activities that Oak Bluffs has to offer. The beach, harbor, and town are all just a pleasant 15 minute walk away, or less than a 5 minute drive/bike ride. Guests will enjoy the private, wooded area of the home's setting, allowing one to truly experience the magic of Vineyard "island living."
Each floor features 1 master suite and 1 living room, making it quite comfortable for multiple families, large groups, and entertaining. Pirate’s Reef has custom carpentry, a gas fireplace, central air conditioning, ceiling fans, a Weber gas grill, and a fire pit to help create those special memories outside. The home has blazing fast 1,000 mbps (1 gigabyte) WiFi, for when you want to stream your favorite TV shows and movies from the multiple Samsung SmartTVs throughout the home, or if you want to go live on Instagram #getawaysociety #piratesreef. The high-speed internet is ideal for those who want to “work-from-anywhere,” which in this case is the beautiful and serene island of Martha’s Vineyard.
The main level has a gourmet kitchen with a breakfast bar, a Keurig coffee maker, dishes, utensils, pots, pans, along with a gas range, and stainless steel appliances. The dining room has a large farmhouse table that seats at least 8 people. The living room has a 55” SmartTV with access to apps such as Netflix, Hulu, and Amazon Video, along with a DVD player. The main floor master bedroom has a king bed, flat screen TV, two large closets, and the bathroom has a huge walk-in shower.
The second level has 4 bedrooms. The upstairs master bedroom has a king bed, flat screen TV, and an en suite bathroom. The upstairs living room/bedroom has a sliding door and a private bath, flat screen TV, sleeper sofa, and a twin bed. The 4th bedroom has a full and twin bed and shares a Jack and Jill bathroom with the 5th bedroom, which has a queen and twin bed.
The full finished basement provides even more SPACE. Upon walking downstairs you'll immediately notice the warm hue of the hardwood floors, gray furniture, and gorgeous granite countertops on the wet bar. To top it off, the basement also contains a pool table and 65" SmartTV to ensure a good time will be had by all!
Off the living and dining room there is a wraparound deck with a Weber gas grill and outdoor seating, which provides a great environment for cookouts and gathering with friends and family. An outdoor shower enables you to rinse off after a long day at the beach. The washer and dryer is located in the unfinished basement. There is also ample parking in the driveway for 6 cars. This is a quintessential Martha's Vineyard vacation home and will exceed your expectations!

May 2018What is not to like?! The owner has literally thought of everything to make you feel at home and was very responsive during our stay. It is spacious, which is saying a lot because there were nine grown men staying in the house for a three-day guys retreat. We had communal spaces throughout the house including the living room/dining room and the basement as well as outside on the deck, which was great for fellowship around the fire pit table at night. There was also more than enough space to be alone to recharge our batteries. Convenient location, which lent itself to exploring the island on foot or by car. We walked into downtown Oak Bluffs every morning for breakfast. Definitely did not want to leave. I will be back! Read more

May 2021We so enjoyed staying in this beautiful home! It’s convenient to Vinyard Haven, and set in lovely surroundings! We enjoyed the deck at different times of day, and in the evening with the fire pit. My niece and daughter in law both had to work one day, and the work station in the basement was perfect for remote meetings. Had a small issue with a door that sticks, and Carrington was very attentive and helpful!Note: rent your bikes from Anderson’s....they have been a family owned business since 1973, and were so helpful!! We visited all the towns during our stay, but decided that Oak Bluff/Vineyard Haven were our favorite areas. Will definitely be back for a future family getaway! Read more

Jun 2021We had such a wonderful stay on the Vineyard this Memorial Day. After a long quarantine, this was the perfect house to get together with girl friends and reunite. Despite terrible weather, we got to enjoy the cozy house, which was perfectly set up for groups. The main floor had an open living/kitchen area with plenty of seating for all, and the basement provided the same experience! Plenty of beds and bathrooms that made every room feel like a master bedroom. Information was shared clearly in the lead-up and everything went very smoothly. Highly recommend!! Read more

Dec 2021We decided to move our Thanksgiving celebration to MV this year to make reuniting with family extra special. We found the most perfect house! Carrington is the most responsive owner that I have ever worked with and we have been renting on the island for over 10 yrs! No question was ever too small for him to answer immediately both before booking, after booking and during our stay. The house is just as beautiful in person as it is in the photos. It is equipped with EVERYTHING you could ever need. Just remember we made our full family Thanksgiving feast using all of the things in house. The house was super clean and extremely comfortable. We did get turned around a bit driving to the house the first time on the bumpy road, but quickly figured it out. We were cozy by the fire places and all through the house. We didn’t walk, but it is such a short to Circuit A e and beaches. We can’t wait to experience all that this house has to offer in the summer. Thanks, Carrington for everything! Read more

May 2018This property is truly a gem of a home offering a balance of an authentic Martha's Vineyard lodging in a quiet sun-lit setting with all of the comforts of today's amenities (AC, internet, fire pit, grill, pool table, flatscreen TVs). If you need it - these owners have already thought of it.
Setting: In the mornings, I took the 10 minute walk to town for my routine coffee. In the afternoon, we sat on the patio with the sun as a fantastic backdrop. The house is very spacious with each of our guests finding time to convene in the common areas while during other times finding a quiet spot in the house to read the newspaper, book or make a call. We rented this house the first week of summer and it was wonderful - Carrington (the owner) made everything so easy, and made sure that the home was equipped with all the kitchen gadgets we needed. The basement is newly renovated with a bar, bar fridge, pool/ping pong table, sectional and television. Jul 2018Our two families had a most 'awesome' time, as what the kids said! We had plenty of space, enough room in the kitchen for all of us to bond while making breakfast, we grilled on the porch and enjoyed the evenings. Kids played ping pong in the spacious entertainment basement. The families parked the car, walked to the beach, walked to town and shopped, ate ice-cream, popcorn at the 'Carousel', 'Back Door Donuts' was a big hit, we even found a wonderful skate park for one of our teens to skate safely, dropped in at the Y community center, bike riding was on the list, ate lobster and took home seafood from our fav 'Net Results', took sunset pictures, 'The Inkwell'...need I say more... We also visited several fabulous restaurants, had several spa services in town and Edgartown........I could go on, just wonderful!! Read more

Aug 2019My extended family of 10 spent our family vacation on the Vineyard and we stayed at Pirate’s Reef for one week in late July. We had a delightful time on the Vineyard and we particularly enjoyed the Pirate’s Reef house. When we were in the house, we spent most of our time on the first floor and on the deck. We loved the open design that allowed us to congregate in the kitchen, living room and dining area. The house has a terrific layout and is beautifully furnished. The basement is also a great addition. We really enjoyed the ping pong/pool table. Most of the bedrooms had en suite baths – a rarity in Oak Bluffs.
The location is perfect. It’s a 10-minute walk to restaurants and retail stores on Circuit Avenue, and a 15-minute walk to the beach. The house is tucked away on a street that is off the beaten path. This adds to the charm of the house. But I suggest that you ask for turn by turn directions to the house. The roads are single-lane dirt roads without street lights. We arrived at night and had a very hard time finding the house.
Bottom line – you can’t go wrong with Pirate’s Reef. A great place to stay on Martha’s Vineyard.

May 2018Its clear that the owners thought of every detail when listing this home. The decor puts you in touch with the island and a New England home environment. The additional basement space gave my group the opportunity to separate but still feel connected to the home. The bedrooms were spacious and with ample closet space two adults could unpack, and have access to their clothes with out any disruption.
I especially liked the wrap around deck that allowed time to barbecue but did not allow the smoke and heat from the grills to interrupt social time.
Not only would I recommend this home but I look forward to having my family back at this home for years to come to create great Vineyard memories. Read more

Jun 2018I rented this house this past weekend June 1-3 for a girls trip. We were coming from all over New England and New York and it was the perfect spot for us! The house itself is absolutely beautiful everything in the house is updated and very well kept. The finished basement looks amazing! The house is also in a great location, you have the vest of both worlds. You have the quiet woodsy feel but also are walking distance from the downtown area! Sep 2018I had the pleasure of renting this beautiful home for a short stay as we got ready for my daughters wedding . Although we have a condo on the Vineyard, we needed a larger home suitable for gathering some of the family in the wedding party. We were fortunate to have found Pirate’s Reef. It is an absolutely beautiful home and every amenity you needed was on hand. There was space for every one with room to spare in the newly finished basement. The home is gracious but homey. It was recently constructed ( a big plus from my perspective ) and no detail had been overlooked. The location is also great, very convenient to Oak Bluffs. Five stars plus. Read more

Sep 2020A group of friends from Massachusetts booked a staycation to Martha's Vineyard for a long weekend. This house was perfect for our group since we were planning to spend a lot of time at the house besides Island activities-- mostly did meals at home. The big kitchen and the grill were super nice and perfect for cooking up big group meals. We also used the gas fire pit on the deck every night which was a huge bonus. There was plenty of personal space/ sleeping arrangements as well and two big living rooms (upstairs and downstairs) for watching Football on Sunday.
It's a short drive ( less than 5mins) from town. The drive is a little confusing at first but we got the hang of it. It's about a 15 minute walk from Our Market right in Oak Bluffs. Your group doesn't need a car but our group found it super helpful to have one for grocery and provisions trips and to get out of Oak Bluffs. We rented a jeep on the Turo app which was the best rate on Island. The house is on a pretty bumpy dirt road so while you don't need an SUV we were grateful we had that over a sedan.
Overall this place was great and highly recommended for anyone looking for somewhere convenient to OB but not too close to town either. The neighborhood is very private/ quiet.

The location of this home is central to downtown, restaurants, bowling allies, and shopping. Everyday my group capitalized on the opportunity to walk through the tree-lined trails to eat breakfast, visit with friends, shop, and attend social gatherings. Close enough to everything you want to do while visiting Oak Bluffs.
The accommodations were immaculate. The home was clean, meticulously furnished, welcoming, and warm. The ethos of Oak Bluffs was captured in selection of the décor of the home. The owners did not spare any expense in the common areas of this home. The finished basement is furnished with a large comfortable couch facing a 65 inch bow shaped flat screen television flanked by a pool table which also serves as a Ping-Pong table, next to a large bar with 6 height appropriate chairs. My group used the basement to enjoy watching sporting events, hosting an impromptu ping-pong tournament, while enjoying the built-in audio/media system. The space was great!
The 5 bedrooms provided ample space for the 9 men in my party to comfortably enjoy our 5-day retreat. We had enough space to sleep comfortably, recharge our batteries, and prepare to enjoy activity laden days.
I highly recommend this home. My group has reserved this property for our 2019 retreat. If you have an opportunity to visit Oak Bluffs look no further than 6 Coral Ave! Read more
