Jun 2020When we arrived it was a little confusing where the house boat was. It was more me and my wife being afraid of getting on someone else’s boat. In reality there was only one house boat we could get on. But at first glances there were beautiful very expensive boats everywhere. We got to know most of the people living on the other boats around us. It was a blast. I am a TV watcher, there are TV’s in every room and I never even turned one on. Had way to much other stuff to do. Interior was beautiful, beds were so comfy, everything was just great! Outside of the boat offered upper area to hang out, very spacious, lounge chairs, flying bridge. Water level there is like a patio on the bow and steer. That is were we hung out most of the time. Boats travel up and down the channel all day and the people are very friendly.
It was a great time and we will be going back. Take the kids next time.

Oct 2021We stayed on the houseboat during September and had a wonderful week! The houseboat is large and well-kept. Previous reviews mentioned the shower as an issue and we can say that it was not! There was plenty of hot water and perhaps the shower head was replaced, but the water pressure was fine. The listing of the houseboat should mention that the shower is shared by two half baths essentially (with doors to the shower from each side), which is nice because one of the half baths is located in the master suite and the other is accessed via the hallway area. Other than the general area being a bit run down, and a super non-helpful front desk manager at the Waterside Suites, we would definitely recommend this as a unique vacation option! Read more

Aug 2020We loved it!!!! So much better than a hotel. Marie the manager was awesome. We had to cancel our trip and reschedule due to Covid 19 and the closing of the Keys. Marie was great and everything went smooth. We communicated with her several times before the trip to get updates on the Keys and she was awesome. The property is awesome. The boat is located pretty much in the middle of Key Largo. There are plenty of restaurants around, but we did most of our own cooking. There is a full kitchen with full size appliances and a BBQ!! The boat is very clean and very well equipped. You have access to the hotel's pool which is only a minutes walk away. The pool was great and was never crowded. The bed in the master bedroom was very comfortable, I did bring my own pillow, which I was glad for. The bathrooms are nice and they are clean. The shower is small, but remember, you are on a boat. As far as safety and security goes, we felt very safe. It is a very quiet neighborhood and there is pretty much no crime at all. Your vehicle is parked right next to the boat and is secure as well. Overall, we loved staying on the boat and we can't wait to do it all over again. Read more

Mar 2021We have travelled a lot, so we've stayed in hotels, inns, B&B's etc...around the world and were looking for a different experience. Staying on a houseboat in such a beautiful location was just what we were looking for! The boat is moored in the channel, so there is a steady stream of boat traffic, which we enjoyed watching. We like to have space to 'spread out' , so this big houseboat provided ample room for us. Others might not mind sharing the space with family or friends, but we really think this is ideal for two people. Marie has thought of everything, so we had everything we needed to brew our own coffee, prepare breakfast every morning and relax on deck with a glass of wine at the end of the day. We felt like it was pretty quiet for such a popular area, surrounded by residents, boaters and tourists. It's already getting pretty warm and humid in FL, so we were grateful for the central air conditioning to keep us cool if we wanted to keep the doors closed. We had a lovely vacation and trouble-free stay. We only wish we could have stayed longer. Read more

Nov 2021We had the best time. Marie was very accommodating as we got there early. She let us put our stuff on board so we could go shopping. Marie informed us that the dishwasher wasn't working but 2 days after we got there the owner stopped by with a replacement. For our inconvenience he got us a gift card for dinner, which was very generous.

Dec 2021We had a great time and wished we could have stayed longer. Our group of friends were in the area for scuba diving (amazing!) and stayed here as a crash pad in the evenings. The location is great - we walked around the corner both nights to get dinner at Sharky's (great fish tacos) and we were within a short drive of the grocery and lots of dive shops. Everything was super clean. The boat is VERY spacious. And they even left us complimentary wine (which we were mostly too tired to drink after diving haha).
Only suggestion I have is to install a keyless entry or a lockbox for the keys. Easier for host and guests so they don't have to coordinate arrival. Read more

Feb 2021We found this property on VRBO and it peaked our interest as an interesting new get away in this current virus era. The check in process was quite simple. With great communication from the property manager Marie, she had the place open and ready to go and we just walked right in and started our vacation. The property itself was clean and even larger than the photos, especially the living areas (dining/kitchen/living room). We have never stayed in a house boat like this before so didn't know what to expect, but we were certainly pleasantly surprised with the size of the boat and the cleanliness of everything when we arrived. The location was also great, with a couple restaurant/bars within easy walking distance and a large national grocery store about a mile down the street. The coolest part of course was just hanging out on the deck or roof top deck for 'Happy Hour' and watching the boats go back and forth on the canal, waving to every one! I would certainly recommend this property to anyone looking for a unique stay in a great location! Read more

Outside there’s 2 decks (1 with a full-size gas grill) on the bottom and 1 huge deck for sunbathing on top! And it’s close enough to several bars/restaurants to walk. Great location, Marie was very kind and beyond accommodating, we even made friends with the neighbors living in the surrounding houseboats. Only suggestion would be to get a dingy so you can easily ride across to Sharkys! lol

It’s in a great location, a short drive to Pennekamp park but in the same marina as many of the dive and fishing boats that head out to the reef. The kayaks were great to have to explore the immediate area. You do have to get used to the boat moving and bumping against the dock if the wind kicks up but it’s very comfortable and we slept well regardless. A back covered deck that easily fit 4 adults and a top deck where we could sit in either the sun or shade as well as dry our gear. Multiple dive operators, fishing charters and jet ski rentals are right there in the canal area and, if sitting on the deck, you can hear the live music from a local bar (quietly) in the background. The whole boat is beautiful and the location is perfect, we were able to book a offshore fishing trip through Marie, rented a boat, and were able to kayak, paddle board and see lots of sea life right in the canal. It was better for n person than in the pictures. As others have said, watching the boats coming and going was fun, as well as, just relaxing on the covered patio. Contrary to what a few have said, the shower worked well. Good pressure and very hot water. No complaints other than having to leave. Dec 2020My husband and I stayed at the Houseboat on the Canal in Key Largo to have a different experience from a typical hotel rental. It was a fun and unique adventure. We especially enjoyed watching the sunsets and taking the kayaks around the waterway to look at other boats and houses in the area. Our favorite night was walking around the canal to the restaurants on the opposite side where we found amazing food - fresh catch of the day options and live (socially distanced) entertainment. We also enjoyed hearing the dive and fishing boats in the mornings going out to sea and opening the windows to see them go by. The houseboat had plenty of space and the internet worked well for us to check in for remote working needs. We recommend this houseboat if you'd like a new experience staying on the water. Read more

Easy check-in (just walk on board), nicely appointed kitchen (for all our cooking needs), comfortable queen beds (master has its own separate entrance), upper and lower deck for eating/relaxing and watching the dive/fishing boats go by. I loved this houseboat! There really is no need to leave once you bring your food and drink on board. If you're tall, just be mindful of the ceiling fans. Jul 2022My family and I decided to return to Key Largo 23 years after My wife and I visited for our 1st anniversary trip there in 1999. We were fortunate to find Marie’s houseboat was available and it was awesome! The boat is easily accessible and is docked approximately 5 minutes from John Pennekamp State Park. Marie was very accommodating and made sure our stay was enjoyable. If you enjoy snorkeling, there is a great snorkeling tour which leaves from the same dock (about 100 feet away). Staying here was same price as the lowest priced room at the adjacent hotel and this is so much more memorable. Needed some time to figure out what all the switches do. Maybe this is common in houseboats. Would highly recommend this site. And the snorkeling from the tour boats out at the reef was beyond our expectations. Read more

The tide did lower the boat about 2’ from dock in the afternoon, but once I knew this, we didn’t try and carry a lot of things to the boat. The nearby park/pool complex had Zumba, Pickleball, plenty of activities. A few restaurants in walking distance. A nice respite from the Northeast! Read more

Dec 2021After a difficult 6 months, we were glad to go on our vacation. We had the most restful of stays on the houseboat. We were lulled to sleep, every night and on some naps. Something about sleeping on a boat! We loved sitting on the porch and watching the ships go out and back. Marie was very communicative and answered promptly.
