Jun 2020We rented this property for a multigenerational gathering during quarantine. We were looking for a beautiful, secluded location with lots of land and space. This property didn’t disappoint, especially on the outside. The location on the water is stunning. The pool is great. And the platform was perfect for yoga, working out, and relaxing.
The only downside of the otherwise charming barn and farmhouse is the quality of the beds, bedding, and towels. They are all very very dated and it’s time to refresh them all. For a one week stay, all of that would have been fine. But many of the bedrooms, especially in the farmhouse, do not have any type of blinds or shades (one room has curtains on some, not all windows) on the windows, which significantly impacted sleeping past 5:30AM, especially for the kids. Jun 2022We had a wonderful time with several adults and children. Great location, very quiet, lots of space. Having two different houses let us spread out. Large pool. Kayaking. Close drive to St. Michaels. Whitman Wharf Seafood shop is right down the road with a good selection of seafood. Highly recommended for a family or group trip. Read more

Jul 2021We had a perfect week in this beautiful property. No complaints at all. Everyone loved the swimming pool. I swam in the creek. Sisters in law kayaked. Perfect. We cooked primarily in the barn house. It had a well equipped kitchen.
Farm house was not as well equipped but that didn’t matter. One kitchen is plenty. The surroundings are beautiful. In the evenings we took lovely walks. It felt very isolated although it’s only 10 minutes to St Michael’s.
A perfect week. I highly recommend it Read more

Jun 2018We had a lovely stay in June. The view of the water is fabulous and we enjoyed many hours of listening to the sounds of the birds and the water. A large heron has made it's home nearby and was the source of our entertainment for many hours. The back porch of the farmhouse is all set up for eating crabs which was a nice touch. Would definitely and hopefully return to this bucolic setting. Read more

Oct 2018We had a large group of family, groomsmen and plus ones in town for a wedding. After initial panic with some electrical issues, quickly and efficiently resolved, we had a great stay. The property is tranquil, both houses had comfortable beds and everything we needed for cooking and relaxing. The host was available to answer questions and responsive to any concerns. The electrical system needs updating so everything doesn't have to run off a series of extension cords and we did blow a fuse or two with hair dryers, etc. The charm of the homes and the beauty of the setting made up for any minor inconvenience. The host was rigid about the check-in and check-out times. It would have been helpful to have a little leeway but this request was denied. Read more

Sep 2019We booked this place for our bridal party for wedding weekend and this was the perfect place for all our guests. There was so much space and activities for everyone. We enjoyed hanging out in the barn and getting ready in the farmhouse with the most beautiful views from the master bedroom. The game room was a bit. We appreciated the updated bathrooms and kitchen. The pool needs some work but the owner called to notify us of that prior to arrival. It was the most perfect wedding weekend and we are so thankful we had the opportunity to rent these beautiful homes for our guests. Thank you! Read more

May 2022This property was ideal for us to attend a combo family wedding/family reunion. The location was close to the wedding venue at the Wylder Hotel, the two-house arrangement, expansive grounds, kayaks, paddleboard, tether ball, fire pit, hot tub, and plenty of area for curious kids to explore. Jul 2020This property is just amazing! We loved every moment of our stay. The pool was big and fun, we made fires around the fire pit, played lawn games, relaxed by the pool, we even rented a boat so we could go fishing a crabbing. Our kids loved playing in the little beach area, finding turtles. We loved seeing all the birds and paddling around the cove in the kayaks and paddle board. The homes were great too - well appointed, clean and rustic. I would recommend this property. Our family of four rented it for two weeks but we had several different families come visit us and having the extra home was a real plus. We would definitely return! Read more

Jun 2019This Property is AMAZING!!! The homes are “rustic/original” with ALL updates you could want! The owners are AMAZING!!! They answer any and all questions/requests! Is ita 5 start 25K resort for 12? NO!!! We had 4 generations, aged 6 months to 75 years old! There is Nothing that is not provided!! It is completely obvious the owners love and care for this historic property!! We saw; Doe, Big Bucks, Fawns, Turkey, Turtles, the Osprey have 2 baby birds in their nest, and Momma and Poppa are very protective!!! The property had something for EVERYONE!! There are 1st floor bedrooms, the property is completely manageable and walking friendly. We had an absolutely WONDERFUL time with our 4 generation family!!! It was like “being at home” the Grandchildren knew Nana and Pappy were in the “other” house, and ran back and forth with confidence and joy. There are turtles! We had a frog that made its way into the patio, that was fun!! I can not express enough, this property is AWESOME!! And the owners make EVERY effort to accommodate ! And are readily available. ALL 5 bathrooms, as well as every room, were spotlessly cleaned!!! If you are looking for an AT HOME FEEL, with all amenities, and wild life. This is a PERFECT PROPERTY!! If you are looking for a “Resort” feel.... Move On. This property is PERFECT FOR REAL PEOPLE THAT WANT TO CONNECT WITH EACH OTHER, and still has SO MANY little nooks and crannies to read, relax and chill!!! Acknowledging that NOTHING in life perfect, this is a PERFECT get away, for friends and family!!! THANK YOU HEATHER!!! Read more

Jul 2018This is a beautiful and secluded property off a quiet cove which is perfect for kayaking or paddle boarding. The pool is great as well. The problem with the property however is that neither of the kitchens were fully functional (if you went back and forth between the two kitchens you could make it work.....BUT not without a ton of effort/stress). I have stayed in many places near St Michaels over the years. If comparing past experiences; although nice, this property was quite overpriced. Read more

Oct 2021This could be a great place for a group of all ages to gather- lots of space and opportunities for amusement. But as 8 adults staging an annual get together, we were disappointed. Jul 2018The property was beautiful. The grandchildren and great grandchildren had a ball between the pool and the kayaks. They caught a couple of crabs and released as well as several fish. The amount of deer that we saw was amazing.
The barn was nice and very updated. The farm house is old and quaint. I feel that they need to replace mattresses and linens and do a through cleaning. All in all we had a great time with space for all. Read more

Sep 2021Overall we had a good time. When we arrived there were no bikes and only 2 kayaks so we contacted the owner and they sent two more kayaks which was awesome because we used them daily. A few things that were not completely clear on the listing that I do want to make sure you know if you are going to stay here. It is VERY VERY remote. While only a 15 minute drive to St. Michael's it is extremely secluded - one lane road, can't see the neighbors, only one place delivers food, etc. Also there is only one master bedroom (in the farmhouse) and only 7 total bedrooms, not 8. The one bed is just in a hall like area outside of the master bedroom. The farmhouse is super old and musty smelling so thankfully a bunch of our group bailed and we all stayed in the barn. At night the lighting inside the barn is super dim so if you want brighter lights bring your own somehow. As for cleanliness I took a star off just because there were a lot of cobwebs arounds. Now the positive - the pool is nice. We were in that every day. We also kayaked daily. We didn't swim because there were too many jellyfish. We did catch crabs which was cool. There are a ton of board games in the game room and books literally everywhere. Overall my kids had fun and I didn't mind being so remote because there was plenty at the house to do. We went to St. Michael's several times so while it is secluded, it's not too far to go back and forth. If you want a quiet place within driving distance of a small, historic town this is for you. If you prefer to be in the mix and able to walk anywhere you'll want to look closer to town. Read more

Jul 2019Our trip to Wittman was wonderful! We had a great experience kayaking, swimming, fishing, playing games, and just relaxing. The Jane Lowe property was a great home that accommodated our two families with dogs. It was also a short five hour drive from our home town of Pittsburgh, PA.
We were slightly disappointed in the maintenance of the home and outdoor space. The swimming pool liner was damaged/ pulled back and showed metal rusting at numerous areas around the pool. We didn't have any small children with us, but if we did, this would have been a huge concern. Also, there was a nice patio area and grill off of the dining room, but it was completely overgrown with weeds. It would have been nice to utilize that space, but the weeds were six plus inches tall. I took photos of both of these items, but unfortunately cannot upload them as part of a review. We all felt like with how expensive the home was for the week (we paid about $8,000 after fees) it should be better maintained.
We did not let any of this ruin our trip! We still had a wonderful vacation, but I think people paying this much for a week should know what they are getting in to. Read more

Jul 2022Our overall experience was positive. A few hiccups need attention based on the fee being charged: I needed to call the owner after we arrived for access codes and property instructions. I notified the owner that the outdoor patio furniture cushions were missing and the pool automatic cleaning system was not running. The pool contractor arrived on Monday. Later in the week we discovered that the farmhouse oven wasn’t working and we believe the A/C condensation drain in the farmhouse kitchen might have been clogged. These weren’t deal breakers because most of our meals were prepared at the barn kitchen; which was a great kitchen. I believe bikes were advertised but we did not find any as the garage was locked. We brought our own so again not a problem for us. The kayaks and related equipment were in the marsh along the creek which should be reevaluated for access and cleanliness, especially the life jackets. We are familiar with this area of Maryland and stay in the area frequently. Over all we had a great time. These couple of issues if addressed will help make this a favorable destination for other vacationers in the future. This was an excellent location on the Eastern Shore. Read more

Aug 2021Our 2021 vacation turned out to be a great one. The pool area was a favorite amongst our group along with Kayaking the creek. We were surprised to see so many sting rays swimming in the cove. The houses suited us well. Owners were very responsive with one small issue ...Only other issues were the gnats, giant flies and spiders. Be sure to bring bug spray!!! There were Some ants and spiders in the farmhouse but that's expected being out in the country. Overall we ALL had a great time. Something to do for everyone!! Nearby St Michaels was fun exploring and the men enjoyed many rounds of golf a short distance away !!! Read more

Aug 2019My family met here to celebrate my mother's 70th birthday. We had 7 adults and 5 children, aged 2-13. There was plenty of space for everyone. This is a beautiful, private and quiet location with lots of wildlife and AMAZING views. The kayaks were really fun, and the game room in the barn was a wonderful space. The billiards and foosball were especially popular. The kitchens were spacious and functional, and the bedrooms generous. Each bedroom has an A/C unit which was nice since we were there over a record hot spell. The pool is large and has a nice covered sun deck. There is a lot of convenient outdoor seating. The buildings are charming, older structures - the farmhouse has ceilings so low that some of us couldn't walk through doorways. Don’t stay here if you are looking for sleek and modern, but do stay here if you are looking for a peaceful, comfortable gathering space. Remember that it is out in the country, so perhaps we should not have been surprised to find ant traps on the kitchen floor, and a mouse or two. Also the pool liner needs replacing, and the landscaping and "sandy beach" area all gone to weeds. We had two issues that needed to be resolved (one related to the pool and one to an bedroom A/C unit) and the owners took care of both issues and got back to us right away, but the repairs took time to complete since the property is remote. Without the pool maintenance and HVAC issue, I would have given the property a solid 5 stars. Read more

Aug 2018My entire family, 3 sons and a daughter along with our grandchildren, ages 2 through 18, all arrived at different times on the first day of our vacation; and we all had the same reaction. This is paradise! The charm of the two houses was the first thing we all noticed. As we walked to the creek,we spotted the kayaks, and then a little further was the magnificent pool, with lounge chairs, and floats for the littlest to use. Truly there was no need to leave the property because of so much to do . And the Barn has the second floor game room with everything from card table, pool table ,board games, and more. Both the barn and farmhouse were neat and clean, but here is what needs to be done. Both houses are in need of new appliances. The coffeepot in the barn didn’t work, so we had to go to the farmhouse and retrieve that coffepot. Neither grill works well at all. Most of the bedding was clean, but the pillows are flat. One bedroom in the farmhouse needs new sheets and pillows. Neither of the two air mattresses worked. Rather than give less than 5 stars, my hope is that a complete check throughout each room to see what is worn out and not working and update those things. We still had the best week, and our whole family agreed it was more than they dreamed it would be to watch the sunset from a bedroom window or on the dock or near the pool, or near the firepit! All worth it . Wish we had more than a week in this magnificent spot! Thank you Heather and Ryan Read more

Aug 2019For the last 17 years, our extended family travels up and down the East Coast to get together for one week to reconnect and relax together. We have spent time in Maine to Florida.
Every year it is a chore to find the "perfect" spot that can accommodate us all. It is a nerve racking process for those of us who find themselves in charge of securing a location. We have a large group that can range to as high as 22 and as families are inclined to grow, finding a spot that all can enjoy become increasingly difficult. This year, we slept comfortably with 16 that had an age range from 17 - 82.
After a short settling in process and walk around, we felt comfortable and at home. We took advantage of all of the aspects of the property, the water, St. Michaels and the surrounding areas by eating, drinking, swimming, biking (we even had a couple of tandem bikes so I got away with my wife), kayaking, fishing, playing games, doing puzzles and generally re-connecting.
We were able to do this together and sometime on our own which makes it real nice with family dynamics.
As in any trip, we did have some issues but we personally got to interact and meet with the owners and they were super attentive and came to these meeting with grace, understanding and quick solutions. Ryan and Heather treated us like an extended part of their family. The side of the family that they liked. ; )
We rarely say things like "we should come back here again" after so many years of vacationing together but this was one of those places where several people brought this idea up to the crowd..
Gratefully,
Jeffrey P. Hunt and Crew Read more

May 2022Beautiful setting. Location was serene and private. Lots of outdoor spaces for quiet reading and reflection. The appliances were nice. Two gas stoves and two bottom freezer refrigerators. The range in the barn needed to be leveled as baking and cooking was uneven as a result. Combining both houses was very good for the 8 adults. One couple did not come and with mobility issues it would have been difficult to navigate the space. We cooked a main meal everyday and had to bring kitchen utensils from one place to another to eat together in the barn. A few things were disappointing. Internet was very slow. The pool was not ready, the hot tub was not hot. One Outdoor sitting area outside the farm house had no cushions. Only six dining chairs in the barn where we all gathered for dinner. We brought 2 folding chairs which should have not been necessary . No extra chairs were available in the property even though we requested that that be addressed before we arrived. There was not enough hand soap in bathrooms or hand dish washing soap that we were told was provided. There were no beach towels for 10. Since pool and hot tub were not ready for our May 15 arrival it wasn’t that big a deal but be advised of this later in summer. Some air conditioners were not working. Seemed like property was not completely ready for us to fully avail ourselves of all the amenities that were listed. We were able to work around these inconveniences but for the price we expected full access to all the property had to offer. Being good friends were adapted but it would have been nicer if that had not been necessary. Some safety concerns regarding extension cords under rugs and lots more extension cords for tvs, etc from a single outlet in several areas of the farm house. Read more
