Andros Island is the perfect holiday to bring your flip flops, sunscreen, and a great book. It is also a great place for self made activity such as going for a run on a cool crisp morning and listening to the roosters crow, meandering around the village by foot or bicycle, taking a long walk on the beach and jumping in the ocean to cool off, snorkling along one of the largest barrier reefs in the world, fish all day -deep sea or bone fish and catch dinner for the night.

MILES OF UNTOUCHED BEACHES
Anytime is a good time to stroll along the beach. It's perfectly safe, day or night.
COLLECTING SHELLS
Being an undeveloped island, imagine the interesting finds on a leisurely walk down a mile or two of virgin beach, you can find the most beautiful shells, sea urchins, dried coral in multiple colors, and whatever the last storm blew onto shore….
RED BAYS
Basket Weaving A remote village settled by Seminole Indians and Blacks in 1821. The basket-weaving crafts practiced here are detailed and highly advanced.
Red Bays is a very different community on Andros, originally settled by the Seminole Indians from Florida. When the US was putting Indians in reservations, a group decided not to accept that 'good deal', and hopped in their little boats, high-tailing it to Andros Island. The people live in a pretty 'rough' style, and it's fascinating to see.
Andros Blue Holes Below the surface of Andros Island is a complex maze of underwater caves called blue holes. Experienced recreational divers can enter from either the ocean or island entrances and retrace the steps of the famous Jacques Cousteau.

Jul 2017What a fantastic place to stay. If you ever want to get away from it all then Nicholls Town on Andros Island is the place to be. Friendly people everywhere with the best sunrises of all time. Staying at the property was exquisite with everything anyone could need. As far out on the point as you can get we would sit and watch the local fisherman and enjoy a cup of coffee in the morning. In the evening, the perfect spot for a romantic dinner. Zona and his wife provided a fabulous dinner the first night and he is more than helpful with anything we needed. Zona is also a great bonefish guide. Look no further. We can't wait to book another stay. Read more

Apr 2022We very much appreciated our stay recently. Quite peaceful and relaxing area.
Community is very friendly and always felt very safe. Wish there has been more info provided about local restaurants, groceries, etc. Took us a couple days to figure out where the restaurants, stores etc were and just as long to understand how they operate. Ie restaurants may not be open. Definitely want to call ahead and let them know you want to come and they will open up. All online info was a couple years out of date for things around the community.
Loved the villa and the property. Would strongly recommend it. Read more

Mar 2016We have visited many of the outer bahama islands. We had a nice time at beach house two. This island is just what the reviews say, totally unplugged, there is no town , no shops and only one restaurant open Thurs-Sunday for dinner. We did get to bonefish, there are really no flats available for DIY fishing on this part of the island, but we hired Zona to take us out on his boat, and he was a great guide! We rented a car for the week, we drove to Fresh Creek in search of some wadable flats, it takes a little over hour and not for the faint of heart, the roads are really , really bad. Kayaking was not an option as the property is ocean front and the waters are too rough. Our flight off the island was cancelled by Western Air, but Zona was able to get us a private charter flight off the island. The property is very nice and Zona was terrific, if you just want to hang on the beach, this is the place! Read more

Jan 2016We had really great time during our stay last week (Dec '15). We stayed in the Beach House with the high ceiling and really liked the beach, the view from the porch and beautiful strolls by the sea. Zona was really there for us all the way - waited for us at the airport, gave us instructions and advice, and finally fed us great dinners.
We will definitely try to come back ...

Mar 2020Villa Casuarina is an ideal vacation spot. You’ll have that peaceful easy feeling that won’t let you down. Villa One is your very own Bahamian beach front bungalow located on a beautiful sand beach. You’ll have all the independence of a fully outfitted and pristine bungalow. Questions; Zona is somehow always just a friendly call away to arrange a car, take you fishing, take you by the bake shop and butcher or guide you to the best eco sites. We’ve been to Andros several times before and Villa Casuarina was perfect. Read more

Mar 2020Villa #2wonderful! On the point, you feel as if you’re on an island with water views all around and very close to the house. I was able to watch the sunrise, waves and plovers each day from the two porches. The property is just as described in the listing. Zona was a reliable and attentive presence without being intrusive. We enjoyed the delicious dinners prepared by Bernadette on two occasions. I highly recommend this service. Swimming and snorkeling from the beach were delightful! There was plenty of soft sand under the water with enough clarity to avoid stepping on any exposed limestone. There were only a few sightings of people walking or fishing from the beach during the week we stayed. This is the perfect spot to unwind, relax, and rejuvenate.

May 2018This property was the perfect get away for a couple looking for a quiet private setting. We stayed in Beach House #1 which was the perfect size for two people. The interior was beautiful and featured high ceilings, paneled with cypress. The large fan kept the place cool when we chose to turn the AC off. The beach was pretty, and seaweed came and went with different wind directions, currents and tide. It was never an issue. We also had zero issues with bugs (mid April). We were lucky to have the owners staying at the main house for part of the visit. They were extremely welcoming and hospitable, even having us over for dinner one night. Other nights, we either cooked or walked up the road to a nearby restaurant. I recommend renting a car to see the more of the island. If you plan on exploring, picnicking or visiting other beaches, you will need to bring your own cooler and ice packs. The house is managed locally by Zona and his wife who are both great people. The only complaint for the trip was lack of water pressure in the shower for entire stay, but it wasn't a big enough bother to spoil the trip. Because we cooked frequently, we would have appreciated better cutlery and a baking sheet/pan. The bonefishing was great! We found a fishing flat that was about 15min away. We would definitely come back to visit again! Read more

Nov 2021This property is exactly as pictured! Secluded, remote, romantic place to spend our honeymoon together ❤️Francine is an amazing host communicated with us the entire time upon arrival to departure. The added benefit to this place is Zona our local friend that picked us up from the airport, had our kitchen stocked with provisions we requested, & so much more!! My husband is an avid Fly Fisherman… Zona was our guide for 3 days in the mangroves & flats of this beautiful tropical paradise which made this trip even more spectacular experiencing the beauty & tranquility of Andros. Make sure if you book this villa to read all reviews & also Francine post as it is very quiet & remote if that’s what your after it’s fabulous! We stayed in Villa #1 & loved it! We hope to celebrate future anniversaries there again, making friends with Zona was the best 😎thank you Francine & Zona! CHEERS!🥂 Read more

Mar 2019"Our stay was Amazing...we are already planning our return!
The location is very private and secluded. As others have mentioned if your looking for a party town, hanging with other vacationers or night life this is Not your spot. If you like peace and quite in paradise, reconnecting with your partner, enjoying your own company or spending your time on private guided world class fishing and snorkeling adventures, playing in the ocean, hunting for sea treasures, if you like taking 3 hour beach excursions without a soul in sight then this might also be your perfect vacation.
It must also be mentioned that Zona really made our vacation special. Zona was professional and really just Awesome to work with. I can honestly say without him and his services and never being to Andros we might not have felt the same about the trip as Nicholls Town is more remote than I had imagined. Knowing Zona was there to meet any requests, take us snorkeling, fishing, banking, shopping and sightseeing made for an incredible trip. Just knowing there was someone to check in with and that had an eye out for us just offered that sense of security that put us a total ease. Also to note - Zona and his wife Bernadette created a wonderful authentic fresh island welcome meal for us as well as lunches for excursions. *** Oh and be sure to ask for Bernadette's soon to be famous Bahamian Macaroni & Cheese!!!
The beach house was sun filled and beautifully decorated with local art and also very well appointed with plenty of storage, clothes washer and dryer -which was a huge bonus! Wifi worked very well during our stay and I think there is also a stereo and television -but I honestly never looked in the entertainment cabinet...enjoying the sound of the ocean was hard to beat!
Zona took us to the grocery store and although very different than shopping home, we were more than able to get plenty of fresh vegetables and fruit, dairy and additional pantry items needed in addition to the things we brought from home. I love to cook and had no problem making wonderful meals.
Julia was very helpful with any questions we had and in booking our trip :)
Thank you Fiddlehead Properties! The Stopinski's

Jan 2018Our stay at Nicholls Town Villa was wonderful. It was more (and less) than we expected. Our goal was real get-away down time. Nicholls Town Villa was the perfect venue for that. Everything about the property was exceptional. The beach outside the villas was beautiful and the sunrises were epic. Zona couldn’t have been a better host. From the welcoming homemade dinner to the tour of the island to our airport transfers - he was attentive to our every need.
We were a bit taken back by just how isolated we were there. Makes us take a different look at the relative big city setting we live in. To do it over I’d take some time in Nassau buying a more comprehensive selection of provisions before our trip over to Andros.

Apr 2016My wife and I returned to North Andros for a 12 day stay in beach house 2 and once again we had a wonderful time. The property is lovely and on a quiet beach that you pretty much have to yourself the whole time. Zona the property manager was again wonderful and very helpful in arranging things and looking after us and helping us enjoy our vacation even more. I can't recommend this place enough, we will definitely be returning. If you want a place to relax where the only big decisions you need to make are whether to walk on the beach go bone fishing or go snorkeling then this is the place for you.

Nov 2019My wife and I absolutely loved our stay, from the welcome meal to the overall tidiness inside and out. Zona welcomed us at the airport and took us to the property, stopping for groceries on the way. The next day I went bonefishing with Zona while my wife read on the beach. And the following day Zona took my wife and I on a boat adventure while I fished and caught us dinner. We would definitely recommend this property to anyone looking for a nice relaxing and quiet trip. Read more

Aug 2016My husband & I were looking for a beach vacation to "get away from it all." We were in for a delight! We stayed in BH 1 ~every window view of the ocean, we ate dinner on the porch every night & slept to the waves rolling in. I kept saying ; "You know the ads of beach vacations where the water is crystal clear, sandy pristine beach with no one around? That is where we are!" We rented bikes & rode 7 mi to Regatta Beach & Morgan's Caves ~picked fresh quenepas ~ delish. Make sure to bring lots of water where ever you go -it's sunny! Went snorkeling & saw: sting rays, octopus, turtles, lobster, many different kinds of fish & a queen trigger fish followed us around, & all the incredible corals. We rented a car for the day & drove to Red Bays to meet Aggie, the basket weaver, & Wilson Russell, the wood carver. No stores just ask someone and they'll bring you there. The baskets ranged from $12 to $40 & we bought a wood carved turtle for $40~ buy them! You will see the same baskets & wood carvings in your cottage. Next we drove south - yes the roads are quite riddled with pot holes but they are not busy at all. We went to Androsia to take a batik making class ($25)~ email ahead & they will give you a time. The owner Kaycee, gave the lesson ( practice cloth first, then choose either 1yd of fabric, a tee shirt or draw string bag)next learning how to "stamp" and "write" w/ a special wax pen. The difficult part ~you only get to choose one color. Next Kaycee takes you to tour the 4 rooms to complete the batik. We paid $13 to mail home. They have a gift shop. I bought a dress($50) & my husband got his official Bahamas shirt($40), & hair scrunchies($3), napkins($4.50 ea), skirts($20), & small bags($6). The quality of the fabric & sewing is excellent. On our way back we ate at the Brigateer. A deck reaches out into the ocean- conch fritters ~yummy. In town everyone is very friendly & helpful & it's very safe. We ate at a few of the small eateries: cheap fried foods. Many local markets to buy necessities. Bring lots of cash(we brought $1,500), aloe & shoo fly! The best for last ~ Zona. He took care of us like we were family. Zona & his wife's cooking: outta this world(ribs, fish, chicken, lobster, conch fritters) & enough for lunch the next day. Zona snorkeled with us, picked us up when we broke down, made all arrangements for car, plane trip back & everything we asked. Zona is a true blessing! We are already making plans to come back to Francine's Place with friends! Read more

May 2017Looking for a relaxing break from work? Then this is the place for you. Cottage was as advertised....all amenities were clean and in working order. As a frequent 'Island traveler' I always bring all my meats, special coffee and am looking for a working kitchen to prepare meals. So, I found it here. Cottage #1 was truly my home for a week. As a financial advisor It was a must to handle daily emails/ph calls from my clients. Wi Fi and ph service were both spot on!
As a snorkeler/diver, I made a day trip to Small Hope Bay lodge for a well managed diving experience. Stumbled onto cozy roadside local place...Sammie's in Fresh Creek for tasty Conch salad.
As this is 'slow' season, some restaurants were closed.. but locals helped me find Bahamian fare.
As frequent Island traveler I uhave done several VRBO rentals. What set this trip apart was the always helpful property mgr Zona. Whether by text or cell ph call, he was instantly responsive and helped me in countless ways.
So, this cottage was as advertised and just right for me! Read more

Jan 2020Let me first say the Bahamas, the accommodations and the people are amazing. We spent many months planning and prepping for this trip. My husband is an avid fly fisherman and he looked forward to spending several days catching fish in one of the most notable places on earth to bonefish. He bought special equipment, tied flies for weeks, watched videos and read reviews from all the people who came before us raving about the fishing opportunities. Unfortunately, the weather prevented this from happening. Zona took him out for half a day before the rain and wind nixed the excursion but not before he caught one fish. This would be the only day and only fish caught. Disappointing.
What wasn't disappointing is the beautiful beach house, the lovely people we met and Zona himself. Zona picked us up at the airport, took us shopping and brought us to the property. There was a little mix up with us being placed in the wrong beach house. Zona brought us dinner and while we ate, he got the beach house #1 cleaned and ready for us so we could unpack and spend the night in the correct bungalow. We were tired, it was late, but it was all taken care of with amazing promptness and efficiency. Mornings, I practiced yoga on the beach while hubby cooked breakfast. We ate in the screened front porch with a stunning ocean view. Nicholl's Town was walking distance, although, nothing was open over the time frame we were visiting. One day Zona hooked us up with a car and we drove around exploring the island. We drove to Androsia and shopped at the Batick Factory. We also took advantage of moments of ok weather by taking bike rides around town and down to Conch Sound. Fun, easy bike ride. Oh, I forgot to mention the roads. All of the roads have been repaved thus making driving and bike riding incredibly easy.
We cooked almost all our own meals (Zona brought us dinner the first night and Christmas). The beach house was well equipped with everything we needed in the kitchen. Beach house #1 also has a washer/dryer. This came in useful as the intense wind and rain warranted a few loads of laundry to occur. WIFI was solid. We didn't watch TV but there was one in the house. We never at out as there wasn't one single place open in the 9 days we were there. Even with the bad weather and the lack of activities/fishing available, we had a romantic and restful Christmas vacation. Note: Avon Skin so Soft does NOT keep the no-see-ums from biting you. Bring something stronger.

Mar 2018If you don't want to see other tourists then come here! This property is awesome with an amazing beach and a friendly little town/island. We did not meet one local who wasn't friendly and enjoyable to talk to. Zona is as helpful as possible and a great bonefish guide to boot. The island received a good deal of damage from hurricane Mathew but it is rebuilding, however the trash is noticeable and a nice clean up effort is needed (off the property that is). Other than that this is the perfect spot for relaxing, fishing, bike rides, swimming and soaking it all in. Read more

Apr 2022I cannot say enough good things about this property. The location, the level of comfort, the view and the amenities are absolutely first class. The only thing better than the property, is Zona the property manager, Bernadette his wife, and Francine the property owner. Truly a world-class, wonderful experience. 10 out of 10, five stars, I cannot wait to go back! Read more

Jan 2020A great location for a private and quiet vacation. We stayed in beach house one which was ample space for two adults and two small kids (8 and 11). Kitchen had everything we needed for meals. Beach was beautiful soft white sand and in solitude. Enjoyed using the kayaks one day for a nice ride over to the beach resort. Zona and his wife made a delicious dinner for us to enjoy. Chicken was full of flavor and veggies and rice were great compliments. Power did go out for short periods of time (30-60 min) a few times during the stay. Zona took us fishing several days and helped arrange a rental car another day to drive the island. Bed was very comfy and porch was great for relaxing away from the bugs (in the event of no wind it can get very buggy at night). Everything was very clean and enjoyable. Perfect place for those looking for a quiet and private vacation to relax and enjoy island time. Read more
