Caroline was delightful. We were in the attached "cottage" to the lovely Victorian B&B! It was nice to be able to purchase/participate in the fabulous breakfast (with a gorgeous view!) our first morning since we arrived so late the night before. Most of the cottage had been updated. The upstairs bathroom still needs updating as does the entire cottage electrical system to accommodate using more than one appliance at a time. Not a big deal though. We would definitely stay here again.

We looked for a place where we could stay with our two adult children while visiting Camden. We wanted to have our own separate living space located in a pretty setting. This property was perfect. We rented the two-bedroom cottage attached to the Victorian by the Sea Inn. The cottage is bright, decorated beautifully, and very comfortable. It was a bonus to be able to enjoy the Inn while we were there as well. The Inn is a wonderful historic home and is located on a hill with a lovely view out to Penobscot Bay. Caroline, the owner of the Inn, was a joy to talk to and extremely helpful when considering where to dine and go sightseeing in the area. We were also able to enjoy one of Caroline’s delicious breakfasts on the wrap-around porch during our stay. Our family enjoyed a relaxing vacation at Caroline’s cottage, and we highly recommend it.

Our stay at the Victorian by the Sea Bed and Breakfast was fantastic. Caroline was great. She met with us upon arrival and described the property, area, and even provided us some start up items in the refrigerator. We were two couples and the two bedroom cottage was perfect for us. The views of Penobscot Bay from the porch were beautiful. We sat there several nights with a bottle of wine and enjoyed the view. Lincolnville is centrally located along the coast and we were able to visit a number of places North and South of it. We will definitely stay there again on our next visit to Maine. We want to thank Caroline for a wonderful visit.

Our time here was so relaxing. The 2 bedroom/2 bath was excellent for my husband, myself, my daughter and her best friend, recent high school graduates. The bedrooms were large and on separate floors, each with their own very nice bathrooms. The kitchen was newly remodeled and the dining and living area were perfect for breakfasts and relaxing. We loved all the details and the place was immaculate. Caroline was the best hostess and was so attentive to any need we expressed . The breakfast that she made was perfect and the dining room with its views of the ocean and beautiful landscaping and gardens was so peaceful and nice. Caroline had also put some things in the refrigerator for us upon arrival and to our delight a box of wonderful macaroon cookies. She also provided us with information about local things to do and on our last night we arrived back to find the small gas fireplace on and fresh cut lilacs from her garden on the mantle. If you are looking for a perfect place to stay in between the busier towns of Portland and Bar Harbor, this is it. The property is everything and more then we could have expected and Caroline spoiled us each day of our stay. We highly recommend staying here for a peaceful and restful retreat to make wonderful memories. I know if we are ever back in Maine, this is where we will stay.

Wonderful Vacation!
If you are looking for a place to stay Victorian By The Sea is absolutely wonderful. The owner Caroline will go out of her way to make sure you have everything you need. The apartment was everything we could have asked for. We loved it so much we wanted to stay an extra day but since the apartment was rented already Caroline made room for us in the bed and breakfast area. Truthfully I cannot say enough good things about our stay and would highly recommend it. Definitely is a place we will stay again on our next trip to Maine.

Victorian by the Sea is a slice of Heaven! Wonderful and relaxing!
The cottage is a separate in law quarter attached but separated from the main part of the inn. The property itself is called The Victorian by the Sea. The original owner was an award winning children’s author and the mother-in-law to Robert McCloskey. I loved that the books were available to read and the house is featured in a few stories! We stayed in the cottage with our two children and nanny and had plenty of room. The accommodations were adorable and the photos don’t do the property justice. The kitchen was sufficient to cook breakfast and dinner for meals we didn’t eat out. The beds, pillows and linen were heaven. The owner Caroline is one of the best parts of the stay. She is very pleasant, attentive, and full of excellent suggestions for excursions and restaurants. As it is a bed and breakfast, she left us homemade scones, juices, yogurt, fresh eggs, milk and coffee for breakfast in the morning. Plus, a bottle of wine to drink on the veranda that over looks Penobscot Bay in the evening. The moon rise over the water was breath taking. We followed most of her suggestions and made fun memories with the children from light house tours (Owls Head, Curtis Island, and Marshall point) farmers markets, cove swimming at low tide, climbing to the top of Mt. Battie, and the best of all a sunset cruise on the schooner “Surprise “. The Inn is very close to Camden and the Mt.Battie State Park, as well as Lincolnville beach. You will not have to drive far to get to the best attractions. Dot’s Bakery is great for sandwiches and sweet treats. We had a date night at The Youngtown Inn (a reservation made by Caroline) and had a fine French dining experience, The owner of the Inn and restaurant Mary Ann was lovely and had a way of making you feel so welcome. I am officially in love with this area in Maine and can not wait to come back. Please do yourself a favor, and book this beautiful place !

The privacy of a rental, the convenience of an inn
We were among the first people to stay in this newly renovated apartment attached to the lovely Victorian by the Sea and had a wonderful week. Not only did the new owner, Caroline, invite us to make ourselves at home on the inn's grounds and veranda, she had stocked the kitchen with olive oil and coffee from local businesses. She seems to love what she is doing and was always happy to help the few times we had a request. The apartment is spacious and a great place to relax and read or just hang out. Each day, while we were out exploring the area, the inn's staff would make up our beds and clean the kitchen. They even brought in fresh flowers. We have stayed at a number of VRBOs over the years and this was a first. The place was everything we'd hoped for in our vacation, and more.
