Sparklingly clean, cute cottage, lovely location tucked down a quiet little lane, close to station (though we were there for the lakes comic festival so didn't explore immediate area) . Comfy beds, lots of space. If you're very sensitive to smell, you might find the basement, twin bedroom a teeny little bit damp smelling, but that really was our only tiny quibble, and it only bothered one or two out of the 5 of us, so everyone found a bedroom to be happy in. I slept in the bunk and was very comfortable as it is quite wide and suitable for adults. A very spacious, clean, beautifully decorated and warm cottage. Highly recommend it.

Beautiful cottage in a perfect location to walk or drive and explore the Lake District.

The unit was clean and provided everything we needed for 2 nights. Second floor beds were comfortable (didn't use beds in basement). 3 minute walk to train station, 2 minute walk to major grocery store, lots of restaurants in area. No complaints except the lock to get into the unit was a bit tricky - could be upgraded to something a bit easier).

Booked this cottage for a short weekend to go up Helvellyn. It was a lovely place to stay, really close to the train station and local shops and pubs but felt super private. And it was clean and cosy which we all needed after a hike! We're already planning to come again.

Great position to explore Lake District, clean and comfortable facilities, very well situated in the High Street for shopping or eating out. The range stove is amazing.
We were lucky to get a park each night on the street nearby, otherwise would not have been so convenient for parking

This is a fantastic cottage right in the heart of Windermere village and is a real "hidden gem" being so close to the amenities yet in a quiet lane away from the main roads. It is a real “home from home” and we had a lovely stay there. We highly recommend it and hope to return - next time we will leave the car behind as the train station is 2 mins walk away and the public transport system is excellent.

My partner, two friends and I absolutely loved our short stay in this charming and comfortable cottage. We had everything we needed for a great vacation in the Lake District from a cozy space to relax after a long day of hiking, to a washer to clean our muddy clothes, to board games to entertain ourselves on rainy evenings. The homey feeling made us feel like we were staying at a family cottage. The location in the heart of Windermere(?) was perfect. We were super close to all restaurants and shops and though there was no designated parking, we had no trouble taking advantage of street parking. We would definitely recommend! Our only difficulty was actually finding the location at check-in, as the address is not clear from the street or from Google Maps.

Long weekend of fell walking, exploring Windermere and Bowness, and birthday celebrations. I’m lost for superlatives for this accommodation - it suited our little group of adults twenties and teens perfectly. Wonderful hosts! Thank you so much!!

Wonderful cottage in walking distance of Windermere station. Small but well furnished. Our hosts were very responsive to any enquiry. We would certainly come again.

This is a lovely cottage in a great location. Right in the centre of Windermere so everything you need is right on your doorstep. The cottage is cosy and has all the facilities you could need. The only drawback is the nightmare that is parking. Not the owners fault at all but had to park a good 15 minute walk away after we had unloaded everything. The car was fine but it made me twitchy wondering if it was secure. The weather was torrential but we still had fun on the bikes and enjoyed our weekend.

My friend and I were very happy with the cottage as a base for a few days hiking. It was spotless and had everything we needed. In addition, we didn't have any problems on the parking front. I'd definitely book again.
PS: I'd recommend taking a few minutes to locate the Booths grocery shop (it's near the bus station). It's much better stocked than the Sainsbury's Local and also much closer.

The property was spotlessly clean. We were within easy walking distance of Windermere and access to other areas of the Lake District. Would highly recommend this property to anyone wishing to stay in the area. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay. Thank you very much!

Our stay in the Lake District was magical. This was the prettiest place we have ever explored, and we intend to come back when we can spend more time on the fells and lakes. Lovely Santon Cottage was absolutely perfect. Located in the heart of Windermere, yet nestled quietly behind the Lamplighter’s hotel, Santon is much lovelier in person. My husband and our 3 kids (18,16,12) had plenty of room to spread out. The beds were wonderfully comfortable; we never ran out of hot water in the showers, and biscuits and milk were waiting for us upon arrival. Simon and Jean thought of everything. Parking was not an issue. We unloaded our luggage and then followed directions to free parking…a very short walk away. In the evenings, we took a short walk (less than 5 minutes) to the local grocery store and then cooked dinner on the Hob. Please explore this beautiful area. (Brochures and maps are in a drawer in the kitchen.) Go to Orrest Head and then follow the public paths into the fells. We were in heaven and did not want to leave. Also, we went to a lovely art gallery called Cook House gallery. It has lovely art of the area, and the staff was so kind and friendly. You will love Windermere, and Santon Cottage will exceed all your expectations .

A lovely 3 story cottage I'm the heart of Windermere.
Lovely beds, bathrooms, kitchen and living room tucked away but within east reach of pubs and restaurants.
3 friends visiting for the Fred Whitton. Would definitely book with my family.

Amazing spot, tucked away off the street for privacy, but close to walk to everything in Windermere, including the train station - so convenient. The cottage was spacious and tidy. The hosts were wonderful in their communication and recommendations. Would stay again without even considering anywhere else.

We arrived to Windermere via train and stayed for three nights to hike the Lake District. The cottage is a very short walk from the train/bus station, allowing you to easily get to other towns without driving or get down to Bowness if you don't feel like or are unable to walk the hill (It's a good walk to the lake front from Windermere). There are plenty of shops and restaurants in the neighborhood (two grocery stores). The house would be excellent for a family, though it was just two of us. We used the washer/dryer which worked great and the shower pressure was heaven. I would definitely recommend this home as a jumping point to the lake district, especially if you're using public transit.

This is a truly amazing place to stay. The lake district is wonderful anyway but being in this cottage made it even better. It has everything you will need and loads to do right on the doorstep.

Arrived 4.30pm on Friday to find milk in the fridge, biscuits and the heating already on. We knew we needed logs etc if we wanted to use the log burner and personal toiletries apart from that pretty much everything was provided. Cottage was comfortable and clean, and the linen smelt good. We had already enjoyed a walk to Aira falls so being able to use the washing machine and drying rack when we arrived was a great help. Take aways, restaurants and shops are an easy walk away. Only downside we could find was parking which by the looks of it is a general problem in Windermere. There is an early bird parking option at the carpark by the library which worth a look at . We would return to this cottage again.

Our family of four stayed at the cottage for seven nights in October and had a great time.
The cottage itself is comfortable and cosy. Although it sleeps up to six I think the living room and kitchen would struggle to accommodate that many people but for the four of us it was fine. Plenty of crockery, utensils, mugs and glasses etc which is not always the case in rental properties (it's amazing how many places supply only one plate per person and expect guests to spend half their holiday doing the washing up!)
The place was spotlessly clean, beds super comfy and all linen and towels were good quality. Our check in was extremely simple and even though our arrival was early by a few hours we were still able to access the property and the host had even remotely put the heating on for us. This made for a great start to our break.
The location of the cottage was perfect for us as it's only a minute's walk from the Main Street of cafes, pubs and shops etc. Parking was a bit of an issue as we were forced to park several minutes away from the cottage but this wasn't a massive problem once we'd found a regular spot.
However, I would recommend any future visitors to consider using public transport if possible as the bus services seemed very frequent and parking generally in the Lake District is tricky due to the amount of tourist traffic.
Despite some rather wet weather we had a great time and would recommend the bike hire at Country Lanes (by the train station), the walk up to Rydal Cave from White Moss Car Park and trip over to Hawkshead Village. Muncaster Castle isn't worth the money in my opinion so can probably be skipped but there is so much else to do in a beautiful part of the country.

Bedrooms and beds were comfy. Laundry machine gave us a bit of trouble but in the end our laundry did get done. Stairs are steep for the less spry. Parking was street only, so not very convenient. Darling garden area in front.

Wonderful location in the centre of town and yet quiet at night. Very complete and clean with everything we needed including a washer dryer and dishwasher. Very comfortable beds. We loved staying here. You will not be disappointed.

Lovely stay in this delightful cottage - bags of character with great modern touches (well equipped kitchen, nice showers, solid Wi-Fi). Pretty quiet despite being very central to Windermere where there were a host of busy pubs/restaurants/cafes for eating out and a supermarket was 5 mins walk away. Something to note is parking though - it was really busy (as we stayed in August) and we had to park some distance away to find the unrestricted free parking. Also worth mentioning is that the twin room is in the cellar and, as such, is fairly cool! Overall a lovely place - thanks!

The cottage in Windermere was great. It was perfect for my family of 5. We enjoyed being really close to the convenience of shops/grocery stores. The cottage is tucked away on the end of a housing unit and is very quiet and private.
The property had board games available which we took advantage of. Property owners are very responsive and accommodating. We really enjoyed our stay.

Cozy Cottage
It was wonderful! It is cute, cozy, clean, and well thought out. It is walking distance to great restaurants(Homegrown & Cafe Italia), the grocery store (Sainsbury), and hiking (Orrest Head). The bedding was comfy, kitchen well stocked, and washer/dryer so helpful. If we lived in England, we would go back every year!!

Such a lovely little cottage which was very well equipped. We were up for the Great North Swim and a party of two families with teenagers. The games were a great touch and the equipment in the kitchen was perfect.
There was a bit of a strange smell in the kitchen hence that was the only non 5 star rated area for us.
The beds and bedrooms were very comfortable and the showers we powerful and hot.
You couldn’t have been closer to everything whilst being in a quiet spot too.
Just the job.
