About this house rental
This beachfront property endless ocean views from both inside or outside of our home. From the kitchen, you can look straight through the dining area, through the window and glass door in the Great Room out to the ocean. From the Master bedroom you can look out over the beach. From three of the Lower level bedrooms a ocean and beach view is provided by glass sliding doors and many windows. Additional oceanfront views are provided by the two large decks on the beach side of the house. On the West side of the house are two large decks with a screened in porch. The unique floor plan of this house provides space,comfort, and convenience. On the upper level is a complete kitchen with all accessories, a dining area seating eight, a Cathedral ceiling Great Room with wet bar and ice maker as well as a half bath, and last but not least, a Master bedroom with an attached bath including Jacuzzi. On the lower level are four bedrooms. Two bedrooms have queen size beds. One bedroom has a full size bed, The fourth bedroom has three twin beds. There are two rollaway beds available for additional guests. One of the really unique qualities of the lower level (beside three bedrooms having full oceanfront views) is that the bedrooms alternate with the bathrooms. Each pair of bedrooms have a shared bath between them that can be locked out from the other bedroom for privacy when in use. In essence, the are mini-master bedrooms. Beside the four outdoor decks and furnished screened in porch, this house also has a two car carport and enclosed outside shower as well as a fish cleaning table attached to the South side of the house. There is a large wooden picnic table on the upper East deck and a metal picnic table in the enclosed screen porch. A charcoal grill is available for use. The house offers entertainment. There are six TVs, all with DVDs and thre also having VHS players. High speed internet and a comprehensive cable TV package are provided through Charter Communications. And, of course, there is the beach. When you are at our house, you are at the beach. With 75 foot of frontage and a heavily nourished beach, we have an area that will provide lots of space for your family. There is enough space in front our house to set up a cabana, a volleyball net and still have ample space to set up a row of Oceanside chairs and lounges. This house is non smoking and is strictly a no pet rental.

Ideal location, excellent floor plan
Oven didn’t work but communication with VRBO and owner resulted in new stove installed on Thursday. Deferred maintenance such as toilet downstairs that took over 30 minutes to refill, 2 people got splinters from the stair rail of front steps and sliding door in living room was very difficult to move.

We have stayed at Nags Head the last few years. This by far was the best experience yet. The house was wonderful!! Of course being right on the beach is the best but the house was exceptionally clean, the kitchen was fully stocked with anything you needed. And if you had a question the owner replied. Would love to stay here again!! Definitely deserves 5 stars!!

We enjoyed our vacation a great deal. This house is all about location. You are right on the beach. Our family were literally feet from pods of dolphins. This is a cozy beach house….not a five star fancy hotel. We will definitely be back next year.

Beware of this very rude condescending owner who gets offended if you complain about one thing not working and tries to immediately blame the renter ( read ALL of the reviews, not just a few) the ones that complain about this owner and how dated & dirty it is are indeed telling the truth.
We had no wifi except for maybe 2 hrs the entire 7 days we were there. Carpet stains EVERYWHERE so bad we would not walk barefooted on it. The couches were so dirty we brought in our own blankets to cover it up before sitting on it.
We were 7 mins late checking out because i have severe rheumatoid arthritis and the stairs are very steep and numerous. The cleaning lady pulled in behind us as we were leaving and we couldn't even back out of the very overgrown driveway that has sharp hedges making it so narrow that it scratched our vehicles paint on both sides.
An hour after we were already gone the owner was sending rude threatening text messages saying we were going to be charged if we didnt get out, we had been gone an hour and were fishing on the pier as he was sending these messages. If i have to say anything good about this rental its the location and the kitchen being well stocked as far as dishes go.
Make sure to bring trash bags, paper towels, and dishsoap though.
We also had to go buy lightbulbs there were so many bulbs out and you couldn't even get ready it was so dark in the bathrooms. The blinds would even fall if you tried to open them. Also make sure you have your tetanus shot before walking on the very old decks that have rusty nails sticking up everywhere.
We stay at a new beachhouse in outer banks twice a year for the last 15 yrs and this is by far the worst place we have ever stayed.
I had to sleep on the filthy couch because every bed in the place was so old, lumpy, and hard.
Just so much more could be done to make this property better for the great location.
Be prepared to be spoken to very rudely and unprofessional if you notify the owner of anything thats not working as advertised.
Even the generic coffee pot was filthy and malfunctioned.
Water had blown in through the double doors due to a rain storm before we got there and we had to deal with soaking wet stinky carpets for several days too.
And lets not forget the roaches we had to kill every night.
I just cant believe vrbo allows this property to be posted on their site.
The owner being so rude just took the cake though.
He loves to blame the tenant if they complain about anything.

The beach house was spacious and clean and the location excellent! The property is rather dated and could use some improvements, like replacing some of the mattresses. Good value.

It was a nice week on the beach with my parents we really enjoyed the outside view! This house is really direct on the ocean! House was ok for the prize need some repair on front and back porch! Owner told us front will be fixed soon!Fencing not feeling secure very wobbly! I would rent this house again! Thanks for having us !

the best part of this property is the off the road location, you dont hear traffic, you hear waves & surf, plenty of kitchen equipment & while not ideal for those w/physical limitations(lots of steps) the lay out is such that ea bedroom has access to an attached bathroom

House is a little dated but it didn't bother us at all. I believe the only issue was all the keypad door locks had dead batteries in them. Luckily the house was unlocked when we arrived. Didn't really bother us much other than we couldn't lock it up whenever we went anywhere. It really wasn't even a big enough deal to call about so we didn't. House was a lot bigger than we needed. All in all no complaints. Thanks for letting us stay.

This is our second time staying here and we love it. The location is great away from the main strip, but close enough to it. The house fits our needs and it’s right on the beach where we spend most of our time. We have been coming to the Outer Banks for years and we have found our favorite place to stay.

After reading many of the reviews we knew this property would not be a brand-new,shiny, luxurious home.... there does need some work done...But we came to enjoy the ocean with totally convenience and have a beautiful view. We don't live far from the OBX and can go and come in a day, but lugging beach gear in and out the car to spend a few hours is not always enticing enough to go often, so beachfront is what we prefer so we could enjoy the view for the week and easily access the ocean daily with ease! This was our first stay at this property and we will be back!

Great Beach Vacation! House was a perfect size for 11 adults, plenty of room to spread out. You are steps away from the ocean and so many decks! I hope to go back.

We had a wonderful time! The location is one of the best. It was quiet and directly on the beach. The house itself is a little dated and needs some TLC and upgrades, but overall we were very happy. The owner plans on fixing the ocean-facing deck, and that will be a plus for future renters. For the price we would like to return again.

The house is dated but very roomy and most importantly RIGHT ON THE BEACH. I have never been able to walk out of my bedroom door and step into the sand and that's exactly what you get at this house! If location and convenience is what you're looking for you have found your place!

I would CAUTION anyone from staying at this house. It is extremely filthy, dirty carpet, dirty dishes, black MOLD throughout the house! Carpet in the main floor bathroom which we all know is discusting in a bathroom, people don't always hit the toilet and you're forces to step in it when you use the bathroom. Read all the reviews, they hold true about this house. And while they don't supply linens, the pillows you have to sleep on have head sweat and slobber stains. This home should not be rented out for multiple health and safety reasons. I have videos and pictures of the condition of this home, which I plan to post to warn people of the dangers of this home. We paid 6k for a week stay and then we were told 2
Weeks before our arrival that we needed to pay another $200 for sheets, pillow cases, towels and wash clothes. There’s was no toilet paper, Paper towel when we arrived. I flew in from KS and i was not informed of this. My bathroom had sand all
Over the floor, when I arrived. the outlets sparked when I tried to use them. Most didn’t work at all. There’s black mold throughout the home and on the blinds, the outdoor chairs are a hazard and dangerous to sit in as they are fallen if apart, there’s stains all over the carpet and furniture, the mattresses we’re extremely thin, old and you could feel the coils. The pillows were thin, old and uncomfortable. One bed that my son had to sleep in was actually broken. I have a video of the bed caved in. My tub drain didn’t work, the toilet in the upstairs bathroom wouldn’t flush, there’s dust and dirt on the fan blades and vents that you can see hasn’t been cleaned in years based on the amount that’s there. The blinds didn’t have strings to open or close them. They also had black mold on them. The microwave door was broken, there’s paint peeling off the walls in several places. So much water came in a wrap
Rooms that the carpet was soaked for sveral days. We contacted the owner and he said there’s no black mold. He sent his cleaning lady who used bleach to clean some of it. It didn’t get all removed and she couldn’t have been able to do so. We told him about the rain coming in and getting the beds and our things wet. He never sent someone over. This home needs a lot of work to be safe for renters. I am happy to share my videos and pictures as proof

My friends talked me into choosing beachfront when I was trying to be in a more economical location as this was our first Outer Banks vacation. I cannot thank them enough for steering me straight! Not only did we pick beachfront and end up at this location, but I believe I am a picky person and have to say that this place is one of the best beach front properties there is! Location, location, location. Many locations say they are beachfront but may be far from the beach or have quite a hike from door to sand even being on the beach side of the road. With our large group (10 family members including an infant), I believe staying anywhere else would have seriously hindered our vacation enjoyment and family time! Trekking to the beach and lugging the items everyday would've been cumbersome. Staying close also allowed us to easily get a morning walk in or easily have an hour or two before heading off for an adventure!
Although dated, the home itself does have just about everything you need and whatever you forgot, there's plenty of reasonably priced stores nearby. The WIFI does go in and out so don't plan on it continually. There was even some "passed along" items from former guests (spices, napkins, paper towels, hand soap, etc). There's also plenty of beach toys available and a charcoal grill to use. I would definitely recommend an online grocery pick up while travelling so you can just swing into the local Food Lion and have your groceries delivered right to your car. (Would suggest bringing tupperware for leftovers if you plan on cooking). While you can spend the whole vacation right on the beach, there is also plenty to do in the area (shopping, paddle boarding, climbing the sand dunes, hangliding, etc!) Boat tours for fishing and dolphin watching are also just down the road. The local pier (1/2 mile walk down the beach) offers fishing, has a restaurant, and even live music some nights! The host was great in responding when we had a few questions. Highly suggest this location!

This is a perfect place to go to. Def recommend. You are right on the water with amazing views. Very large, accomodating home. We already are talking about booking it again for next year!

Cons:
Driveway. Be cautious if you have big vehicals. We accidently scratched up the truck pulling in on the bushes at the end. I also got stuck in my van with the sand in the middle. We would still rent but just a word of caution.
The internet was very in and out in the middle of the week. We didn't mind because we were there for games, family and the beach but we did notice it kept cutting out. Might have been the incoming storm. Either way we didn't care.
Somewhat dirty in kitchen but that could have been the people before us not cleaning dishes appropriately which I get so we just rewashed them.
Also the coffee machine was not working to well. Half pots worked well but any more water in it made it leak out the side and bottom. 711 is a mile away if you need anything and they provided the filters plus we left ours for the next guests.
Biggest con... On our part .. that we didn't book it longer!! We had a great time. Overall 10/10 we would love to stay again! Thank you!

Summary: Owner accused us of trying to scam him when we reported issues - there is no property manager in OBX to help if something goes wrong. Owner requires your credit card details for potential damages, which you only find out just before your stay - so he literally can charge anything he wants outside of VRBO’s control - it’s highly unsafe to share credit card details with any individual outside of an encrypted system.
I’m afraid to even write this review, since the owner has my credit card details and I’m dreading a nasty response. That’s why I’ve waited until the very last minute to leave a review. I hate confrontation and prefer the “if you don’t have something nice to say, say nothing at all” - but I feel that’s unfair to those reading reviews to have the best family vacation possible. I’m aware of all the great reviews and 5-star ratings, so I can only speak to my experience.

The only reason I am able to give two stars is because our family ended up having a great time after the drama and the location is perfect. However it did not start out that way, which is a shame – when we arrived and reported that the door key pads were not working, Craig said he would send someone to check it out the next day (we finally managed to get 1 of 3 doors to work). The housekeeper supposedly came the next day while we were away and reported that it worked for her - however, when we returned, none of the 3 doors worked.
I reported it again and he became very aggressive and said he would drive down 8-10 hours from New Jersey to show us how to work it because obviously we were making something simple complicated and that if he managed to get a door open he would charge us for his round-trip. His text read “I will try myself. I trust my help [housekeeper]. Maybe you are not pressing completely. I cannot imagine that there would be so much difficulty with such a simple task. Should the doors work for me you will be charged.”
I sent 3 videos to submissively ask “can you see anything we need to correct?” He actually accused us of trying to scam him. I was terrified he was going to drive down ans kick us out, ruining our family trip. Turns out the batteries just needed changing - which we had to recommend and ask permission to do.
BUT location is great, perfect views, comfortable place, affordable. Obvious that no work has been done in ages, but we ended up enjoyed it. Recommend another house in the area if possible.

Okay, so the bad part first. 1. The listing and reviews are accurate about the driveway, but I completely understand that the owner can't do anything about it. My four wheel drive vehicles have no issue and neither did my two wheel drives with a good bit of speed. unlike some of the other reviews, I did not have a problem doing a 3 point turn with a suburban. Two wheel drive vehicles with very low clearance may have issues so just be aware.2. The house is dated. We are used to some older beach houses so it was no big deal for us. If you are looking for a freshly remodeled house, this one 't for you.The Good:1. Everything in the house worked so I didn't need t0 communicate with the owner. My pre-visit communications were answered promptly so I imagine the same would hold true during the stay.2. The check-in/check-out process is seamless.3. The LOCATION. Let's face it, if you are renting this house, you are renting it for its location and you will not be disappointed. A beautiful beach awaits at the bottom of the steps. While its not 100% secluded, it's not crowded at all. We enjoyed great surf fishing within 30 yards of the house. The beach is clean and is periodically patrolled by the beach patrol and there is a lifeguard station a couple of hundred yards away. You also have the extra bonus of having the Nags Head Pier about 1/2 mile away (easy walk to the pier) where we enjoyed great night fishing.So the big question: Would we rent it again? Absolutely.

This house has a great location, right on the beach. But it is seriously out of date. And lugging the garbage pails up 100yd driveway that is entirely sand is awful.

The beach front location is incredibly beautiful! We walked miles on the beach every day and enjoyed the sanderlings. The house is very comfortable and well equipped. We hope to return!

The layout was perfect for our group and the location is incredible. There are clear unobstructed ocean views and deck access from every every room except one. The living/kitchen area is huge with a wall of windows facing the ocean, a cathedral ceiling covered with beautiful stained bead board, and even a wet bar! Yes, it is an older home and yes, it has normal wear and tear; however, it provided everything we needed. Nothing was lacking and we will stay again!

We just spend a great two weeks at this perfectly-situated house in South Nags Head. The house is comfortable; the ocean is the front yard; and the location is ideal for long walks on a nearly empty beach. It was a wonderful respite from the stresses of Fall 2020. Oh, and many of the restaurants now have easy-to-use carry out procedures which meant we didn't have to cook every day.

The interior is a bit worn but is still a bargain for the price. We came for the location and were not disappointed. Up every morning on the deck with our coffee watching the sunrise!
