Thank you for another wonderful Island vacation. My biking partner and I have our favorite rides and the Roche Harbor is one of our favorites. And your lovely home also affords us the opportunity to bring our (pedaling rather than paddling) kayaks, some glorious adventures there as well.

In our many decades of travel we have never stayed in a vacation rental home as wonderful as this! The hosts have thought of every detail to make you feel welcome. From large fluffy towels to cabinets labeled with contents everything is just right. The bay in front of the home is 100 yards wide and about 1 mile long…well protected from the weather. This makes it ideal for paddleboarding and kayaking. The beach provides a great place to pull water toys up and out of the water. 50 steps takes you up to the home with a well built wrap around deck. The main room is comfortable and the dining area easily seats 6. The kitchen is stocked with everything you could want and a step through an entry room takes you outside to the circular driveway. The bedrooms are spacious and the comforters thick and warm. There is plenty of hot water for the jetted tub or shower. The walls are covered with beautiful art and decorations enhance every counter. The hosts even set out a small container of dog treats…! If you are looking for a place that feels more like the home of an old friend, and less like a typical vacation rental then this is the one for you. We would rate this home 10 stars if that were possible.

House was very comfortable and easy access for all of our ventures on the island. Would definitely recommend it to anyone.

One of our guests said she wasn't used to silence and felt like she never wanted to return to her regular life. Another said they hadn't enjoyed such a great family vacation in years.

The house and property was just how we were hoping it would be: Its like being at a cabin on the beach. Everything you could need was available. We all enjoyed our visit. Thank you for sharing your home.

We loved our stay on San Juan Island! There’s a lovely bay with a rocky beach right outside the balcony, and the beds are comfortable and the property is cozy and clean. I loved all the natural light, and the home is tucked away from neighbors and feels very private.
Dishes and other materials were clearly labeled and easy to find. We were able to settle in quickly and enjoy our time on the island.

Our stay here this June was better than I ever expected! The photos of the property don’t do it justice. The large front windows overlook the beautiful cove in the mornings and it’s absolutely lovely. Everything was neat and clean when we arrived with plenty of space for our group. We loved all the little extras throughout the house, like board games, books, a spice rack, sandwich bags, coffee filters, etc. It definitely helped with our grocery trip and made the house feel so homey. We had an incredible time whale watching and exploring the island. We will definitely be coming back to stay again one day!

We loved the peaceful setting of this place, as well as the ample space it offered. The deck overlooking Neil Bay was a source of tranquility and offered wonderful views of eagles and otters, and the beach was a great place to launch a kayak into the protected bay. The living spaces were comfortable and well thought out and we appreciated the king-sized bed. The location was convenient to Roche Harbor (it was about a 30-minute walk to dinner in the harbor with dogs stopping to explore; or about a 5-minute drive). And Friday Harbor is only 15-20 minutes away. We’re quite grateful the host is welcoming of dogs (thank you for the treats!), but we wanted to caution visitors with pups that there is a fair amount of wildlife that visits the house, including deer and raccoons, as well as the occasional fox. Our pups are on the small side (18 and 9 lbs and they were able to get through the deck railing). So we kept them close by and under watchful eye since, despite their (lack of) size, they’re quite happy to chase just about any animal. One other note is that we recommend bringing your own bath soap (pump hand soap provided) as the host didn’t provide any since it can be difficult to anticipate preferences and allergies.

Our family of 6 and dog SO enjoyed our stay! The deck and bbq was fabulous! The kid loft area was so so perfect and having the bathroom up there was lovely. My girls are 3 and 7 and they loved having their own space. We brought a galaxy light and it created a super cool spot! Amenities were absolutely perfect. Thank you so very much for having us!

Our first time at Roche Harbor and what a find! Very comfortable bedrooms with extra cozy blankets. Easy access to the beach and beautiful views from the deck. Roche Harbor Market only a few minutes away had almost everything we needed for the stay plus unique toys. Thanks for an amazing experience.

We really enjoyed our time here and appreciated feeling a part of the family tradition that this house has hosted for the owners for so many years. The neighborhood was beautiful and walkable and we loved the mix of trees and beach that the property offered.

This home was clean, spacious and had some fabulous personality to decipher and experience. The history of the home was heart warming. We slept comfortably and had most what we needed in the kitchen to survive our weekend and brought the rest! The most enjoyable part was walking the pebbly beach on the last morning seeking some sea glass and being stared at by seals! Quite nice!
I suspect the owners of the home do not suffer height impairment as everything had a tall counter and tall cabinets - but that was perfectly okay for a 5 ft 9 inch female and a 6 ft 8 inch male. The other two suffered a tad of "will you get me this...?"
Overall - no complaints - and enjoyed the stay.

This property is gorgeous! We enjoyed the rocky beach, the knock out sunsets each night, had so much fun kayaking(brought our own) and our nine year old spent hours playing with the different seaweeds!
The first night of our 6 night stay we had trouble with the oven reaching desired temp. I reached out to host who replied that they couldn’t get someone there ‘anytime soon’ because it’s an island(understandable) she asked me to take pictures and send to her so she could research it, which I did.
She never rounded back with apology, didn’t explained any attempt at calling to try to get someone out or offer any kind of compensation for the trouble. In fact when I touched base the next night to explain it was still happening with time stamped pictures, all she said was, ‘oh, it’s getting worse.’
Not having an oven for six days greatly impacted our time. We had to rework the meals we brought, spent more money eating out and bought more on island to supplement. Thankfully there was a small toaster oven and we did use the bbq as well. We’ve stayed at dozens of rentals and never had such blatant disregard of a major issue by a host, especially for this long of a stay at this price point. The house itself was clean and comfortable. The property is the star here and the host needs serious hospitality training.
To top off the trip, the power went out the morning of our last full day, we had to drive back to Friday harbor for breakfast and coffee. I get that no one can control when that happens but it really was just a bummer. We’ll be back to the San Juans, but wont stay here again. If you don’t mind not having any issues that arise addressed, you wont be disappointed in the property itself. The sunsets alone might be worth the risk!

We were at this property for a month. The house really needs some maintenance. The large dining room was shattered top to bottom and had masking tape on part of it! The oven would not heat over 350. The large master bedroom was unusable for us due to the overpowering extreme mold smell in the "sunroom" which is covered with decaying debris that has not been removed in a very long time. That "sunroom" actually never gets any sunshine nor does the rest of the house due to huge (beautiful) old forest all around it. There was no trash pick up so half way through the month I had to call the person who cleans there to please come get it as the large garbage can is in the laundry/entry room right off the kitchen. I tried putting it out in the three sided bin but raccoons got into it despite the cord to secure the top. It would have been nice to have someone at least call to check if everything was ok as we were there for a whole month but I had to call. The picnic area has not been trimmed to it was covered with two foot high grass around the picnic table. The wooden picnic table on the wonderful big deck was decaying. The many old personal family photos everywhere were unsettling to me personally because I felt like I was staying in someone's personal space but that may not bother others. This could be a really nice place with some work.

This house was perfect for a wedding at Roche Harbor when trying to avoid the price of staying at accommodations on the resort. The house had everything you need, awesome master bedroom with a great jet tub. Nice deck and little beach area, quite neighborhood. You can see a bit of the sunset through the trees, but there is also a really short walk up to a perfect sunset- watching beach with benches. Only request would be better patio furniture but my guess is with the pine
