Can’t say enough about this property. Location and amenities were awesome. We woke up every morning to the tropical sounds of Samara…macaws, monkeys (they can be a bit loud) and beautiful vistas. We had a 6-person golf cart for 3 days which was perfect—allowed us to explore Playa Carrillo and go into town for dinner or pick up groceries, etc. We walked to town the first few days via the beach, about a one-mile walk. It is a pretty steep hill to the house but doable. We had Silvia come in two nights to prepare dinner for us—it was fabulous. Leonie was very responsive and easy to work with. Was a wonderful stay and we were sad to leave!

We stayed 5 days at Villa Vista and enjoyed every minute. The house is very conveniently located and the views are breathtaking. The minute you enter the home, you can’t help but be in awe of the beauty and immediately relax. The property manager, Leonie, is the best I have come across!
We are the grateful for the memories our family will take with us and hope to be back again someday.

Amazing home, even better than the photos. Incredible views of the Pacific and the jungle canopy. Indoor/Outdoor living from the living room and Master. Perfect for our family of 5 with older teenagers. Well appointed with tasteful decor. Getting into town and to the beach requires a vehicle. We rented a golf cart and were able to get to all beaches from Carrillo to Samara. This worked really well for us. The golf cart is not something I would recommend with little kids as you do need to travel on the main road with other vehicles going at full speed. Leonie helped us with Fishing charters and was a great concierge. We enjoyed lounging around the pool and grilling outside as much as we enjoyed going into town. Wildlife abounds with several varieties of birds, Howler Monkeys and Iguanas. Plenty of options for a group with varied interests.

OMG… upon arrival you are immediately rewarded with an amazing view of the ocean and Isla Chora over a brilliant blue infinite pool. The house is situated such that a cool breeze floats from front to back and the pool is in morning sun and afternoon shade. Lovely!
The bedrooms were clustered to one side of the house so we could be using the main area all day without disturbing sleepers. We made most of our own meals in the fully stocked kitchen and made heavy use of the outdoor grill. It was also nice to have air conditioning in the bedrooms for sleeping.
Located about 2 km from the town/beach of Samara, it was the perfect base camp for our group of 6. Not really walkable but with a rental car, we could easily come & go or hang by the pool. There was plenty to keep us busy… we booked some kayaking, ziplining and ATV adventures in town as well

Samara Reef was a great area. Leonie helped us get a local cook into prepare a meal and it was wonderful. The house was a bit of paradise. We did have some challenges with only one gate controller and six people. I would also recommend an upgrade to some of the appliances. Overall loved the town and the property.

You can never be sure that the reality will match the pictures online but this house exceeded our expectations. The pictures don't even adequately represent the beauty of the home and where it is situated. We truly had the best view in town and it made it hard to leave the house for daily activities. And the pool was amazing as well and was used by all of us regularly.
The one minor shortcoming is the need to get on an ATV or a bike to get food or get to the beach but worth it for the view and the comforts of the home. Definitely recommend mountain bikes and at least one ATV/motorbike for getting around and up the hill. and don't miss dinner and sunset at La Puesta del Sol near Playa Cabillo. And for that matter, the beach at Playa Cabillo which greatly outranks Samara.
Leonie, the house manager, was wonderful and extremely helpful in all matters. The house was clean and someone came in twice a week which was nice given all the used towels.

Perfect place for a family with teenage kids. We loved this house. It was a great home away from home. The pool was beautiful with a great outdoor space to enjoy the Costa Rican sun. We loved the kitchen and the outdoor kitchen. The house is a quick drive to town, but nice and quiet. A wonderful place for a holiday!

My husband, 6 year old and I stayed here for 6 weeks. The views are amazing! The pool and grounds are well kept as well as the house. Kitchen is well stocked with all that you need. Be aware that there is no AC in the common areas of the house, But the back of the house has Nano doors overlooking the ocean and there is great cross flow of breeze when those and the front door are open. The beds need help. The mattresses all need to be changed out as they were either rock hard or so soft that we had to sleep in the 2 divets that sunk us in on either side of the mattress. Our backs were pretty messed up during our stay. Also wished that we were able to use the pool toys that they kept locked up in the see through garage.
Other than those few things, our stay was a delight. The house is perfectly located to town. Not right in the middle of all of the noise but just a few minutes to get to everything. Property manager was very responsive. Views are breathtaking.

The location and views from the property were amazing. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay. We enjoyed a few activities in the local area including zip lining, ATV ride and of course the beautiful beaches in the surrounding area. The weather also turned out to be perfect with no rain 5 of 7 days during day time. Both Leonardo and Raquel were very responsive and pleasant to work with.

Look no further for an ideal place to stay in Samara. Gorgeous view, gorgeous house, gorgeous but comfortable furniture. It was even better than the pictures. Easy drive to incredible beaches. Samara is a charming town with great Italian restaurants and store. Erin the manager was top notch and did everything to make our stay comfortable and easy, even arranging for someone to come to the house for our Covid tests. We’d go back there in a heartbeat. We had an amazing stay in Samara Reefs. This property was very comfortable with a stunning view. Erin, the property manager, was amazing and made sure we were well taken care of during our stay. The house is in a safe, private, gated community that's very close to town, making all amenities very convenient.
We enjoyed the hummingbirds, howler monkeys and parakeets that frequented the area, and the house was kept immaculate during our stay by Demeris (housekeeper) as well as the gardeners and pool staff.
Be sure to keep the front and rear doors open for a crossbreeze. Otherwise, the house gets VERY stuffy in the main living area due to the AC unit in he loft not working. And, the main road out of Samara is just below the ridge where this house is, so you do constantly hear ATVs, cars and dirt bikes rushing by (and over the metal bridge nearby). This does interrupt the solitude a bit, but nothing compared to NJ traffic.
Nonetheless, this house was awesome in a fantastic location with an impeccable support staff. You will have a great stay here.

I cannot say enough wonderful things about this vacation. Communication with the owner and property manager prior to our stay was fantastic! Erin, the property manager, went over and above to make our stay perfect. She had the Villa stocked with groceries, gave restaurant recommendations, had Vilma cook for us several nights. She was the sweetest and the food was yummy! The view from the Villa was breathtaking! The pool was sparkly clean everyday, as was the Villa. The location was perfect. It was 5 minutes to Samara and the beach. We could not have imagined a more relaxing vacation! Look forward to coming back again later this year! Pura Vida!

Even before you arrive at this incredible property, you'll be in for a treat! The communication from Craig (owner), Erin (property manager) and Bill (interim property manager) was stellar and helped us be totally prepared and at ease.
The property itself is exactly as described in other reviews and the view is completely stunning. My wife ended up tearing her hamstring in town on the first day of our trip. Watch out if it rains! It is slippery everywhere you go, not just the travertine tile in the house. Bill helped us get to a doctor in the middle of the night and Erin was checking in with us constantly, despite dealing with a family emergency of her own back home.
Unfortunately, due to my wife's injury, she was pretty immobile. Fortunately, however, the sanctuary of Villa Vista meant we still had an amazing time. Pull open the folding doors and let the breeze blow through your hair as you sip a glass of wine on the veranda and watch the waves slowly pulling into shore. Despite being right next door to two other houses, the property feels incredibly private. We felt like we had the whole of Samara to ourselves. The kids never got tired of playing in the pool and there was an excellent selection of movies upstairs when the rain rolled in.
Only negative that I can think of is that I couldn't find a shaker or shot glass for making Cadillac margaritas, but we ended up making do with a couple of the plastic cups. Overall, our time at Villa Vista was amazing and we hope to come back again soon! Thank you!!

In fact, if anything, the photos do not do Villa Vista justice. The house itself is absolutely gorgeous and immeasurably comfortable. The pool is amazing. The view is awe inspiring. Erin (the property manager) is super personable and helpful and enthusiastic and probably the best property manager we have ever worked with. The house has a nice sense of privacy while still having neighbors close by which actually generates a sense of comfort and community. Having Playa Samara only a few minutes away by car also makes the trip that much more enjoyable as you can run into town for groceries, a meal or a trip to the beach and be back in no time at all. We have stayed at many fine properties over the years but Villa Vista is truly in a class by itself!!

We had the pleasure of staying in this magnificent home on our vacation to Samara. The home is situated in a very private and gated community, which we loved. We felt safe at all times. The pool is to die for! It is also bigger than any pool that we have had the pleasure to experience in a rental property before. The layout of the home and the room configuration is perfect for all guests to enjoy privacy. The home has a major sound system that really just tops off the experience. We spent a few days just enjoying the house, the million dollar view and the beautiful ambiance of the home. First off it is important to know we have been traveling to tropical destinations beginning with Costa Rica 20 years ago, and this home hands down is the nicest we've ever had the pleasure of staying at. The quality of craftsmanship, architecture, and level of finish in this home is perfectly melded. The massive folding accordion doors to the patio frame in the exterior view of the ocean, bay points, infinity pool, and island like an absolute masterpiece work of art. It is simply stunning. Comfortable beds, quiet location proximal to town and the beach, all the amenities of a gourmet kitchen, master walk in closet with ample built ins, multiple sitting areas. All this within this lovely little gated community with wildlife in the hills above and trees below the property. Craig is a man of honor and well respected by local business owners which was immediately evident in our initial interactions with him. VRBO had the wrong fees listed for his home and he without pause honored it. His property manager Erin was always available and wanting to make sure we were comfortable. She even gave us a ride to town for dinner the night of our arrival. 10 minute shaded walk to the beach is perfect in the am. Takes you through the locals housing area right to the middle of the bay away from the tourist area of town where you'll fine 2 to 4 people on the beach exercising. Lastly, you must get up for the sunrise! I wish I could share my photos here, but the peace and beauty of that experience had me up at 530 every morning. We never turned on a TV once. Pool time was all the time when not exploring the charming restaurants of Samara or the beautiful beaches near by like Carillo. One of the nicest in the world only a few minutes down the coast. We genuinely can not thank Craig and Myla for sharing this amazing home with us. We hope to see you next year!
