We always rent in the NC mountains for a family thanksgiving. This house was spacious for families to gather. We enjoyed the open concept and the lovely gas fireplace made for cozy evenings. The rush of the river out front was great to hear when on the large covered porch. We especially liked the hot tub that was ready upon arrival. Love that. We also had successful fly fishing on the nearby beautiful Nantahala River.
One issue we had was none of us could get the primary bedroom shower to be warm enough to take a comfortable shower no matter how we turned the shower knobs. We all had to shower upstairs where the water temperature there was great. If there is a trick to it instructions would be helpful for the primary shower.
The house was beautifully decorated for the holidays. So inviting. We would stay here again.

We all had a grand time at the cabin for the weekend! Good friends, good food, and good accommodations.

We loved the cabin and all it had to offer. The rain prevented us from being able to use everything (i.e. the fire pit), but if we are ever in the area again we will definitely use again.

The property is amazing and well appointed. Having a fire by the creek at night was glorious! Enjoying coffee on the huge deck or by the creek made for a super relaxing morning. Looking forward to coming back next year with my brothers again!

I would recommend this property to anyone wanting to getaway and escape the hustle and bustle for a few days. The place is exactly how it's described. We enjoyed the back deck and yard leading down to the creek and the fully stocked kitchen to cook our meals. We really enjoyed our stay.

This was a perfect cabin for our family! The property was amazing! It has a running creek in the front yard that we could dip our toes in and just relax listening to the water pass by. It was easy to get to without the need of 4-wheel drive. Our adult children loved the hiking that was near by and we all enjoyed the white water rafting! We had a unanimous vote to come back to this cabin next year! Thank you Scotty & Barbara for sharing this beautiful property!!

Scotty and Barbra have a truly amazing cabin!
The house is cozy and the location is even better if you are looking for a hidden gem in the mountains. Our family was looking for something exactly like this. A must was a place with streams and rivers for fly fishing. The Nantahala River is #4 top fly fishing rivers in the nation. The cabin sits on the white oak creek which flows right into the Nantahala. We were about 2o minutes away from a really cool corner that is a hub for AT travelers, white water rafting and kayaks. Also 2 restaurants located here. One thing to consider is the cabin is about 50min. Away from any major town. (We didn’t mind) we traveled to pigeon forge, smoky mountains , Bryson city, and Asheville and was doable.
We had a couple things we needed to contact Barbra with and they were really quick to respond.
A few tips if you decide to stay here:
Bring your own spices & condiments for cooking as there is just salt and pepper.
*Hot tub was a bonus for us!
*also land line was a life saver

What a fantastic place. We had a last minute idea to meet family in the smokey mountains not far from N.O.C - Nantahala Outdoor Center. After a good bit of online searching we selected this cabin. AND we are soooo glad we did! Our group of 6 adults were very comfortable here. We loved the rushing creek directly in front of the cabin. The hot tub was very enjoyable!! and HOT! We spent hours reminiscing around the firepit. I took tons of pictures that I will be sharing with the owners. Hopefully they will add some additional pics to share with you all. The only suggestion I would make, is just remember to bring coffee and and of course, whatever you want to cook while your there. Thanks Barbara! We are already planning our next trip back!

The cabin is wonderfully located for day excursions or relaxing by the stream and reading. When we had an issue, we contacted the owners and they addressed it right away. The only thing at the cabin we did not get to enjoy was the hot tub.

We had a great stay and enjoy the home. It was close enough to things we wanted to see and do, but far enough away it offered the tranquility that we were looking for. Thanks for the nice vacation...

The photos do not do justice to the loveliness of this home and property. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay and the location of the house. The property owners were great in helping us resolve an issue we had with the shower in a timely manner. The only downside I could thing of is that bad renters threw trash (cans, bottles, lighters) on the ground behind the hot tub that never got cleaned up. But overall, I highly recommend!

Our third time staying here-- we love this location for so many reasons. This area is beautiful, the creek running through the front yard is magnificent, and the house is cozy and comfortable. We love that our dogs can run around safely.

This beautiful cabin is ideal for fishing and hiking. Although we had no luck fishing in the river back of the cabin, we caught 4 trouts at Wishon’s Fishing Hole which was 10 min drive.
For hiking, 40 min hike at the Tellico Gap led you to the Wesser Bald Fire Tower where you could see 360 degrees Smokey mountains.
If you want to cook at the cabin, bring your own condiments. There are only sugar and coffee filters provided.

Wish the weather cooperated for our trout fishing excursion. Great spot in between the lake and the river. Ownership was very responsive to our minor issues. Will be booking again.

The cabin was great, and the owners were quick to respond to anything I had questions about.
I just wish somewhere in all my searching, someone would have posted a big family warning, "If you visit in March there is nothing to do, and nothing on this mountain is open to the public until mid April or May. No ability to rent a boat, train is not running, all gem mines are closed, and not even able to go horse back riding."
So, this was a very expensive vacation to sit in a beautiful cabin with nothing to do. Couldn't even properly fish in the creek in front of the cabin because again time of year.
At least the hot tub was nice and was able to have some family time in front of the fire pit.
Only cons towards the cabin is the big "jetted" shower in the master bath would not get hot and the mattress in master bedroom could use updating.
Besides that, it was a great stay. Would definitely recommend.
Next time I will do better at vacation planning.
Love and learn.

We switched the couches but we put them back before we left. I think that they should’ve stayed because they looked better with the big couch towards the TV and a little couch against the window. We wanted to move the end table to the other side of the couch closer to the door since there wasn’t much room in between the couches at that point anyways, but it didn’t matter that much. I just think it would look better.

Nantahala forest surrounds this lovely property. The home is wonderfully laid out for many to enjoy. There were so many accomodations we enjoyed such as a whirlpool ready to be used, an inflatable bed, a pull out sofa bed that we used as well. We had access to the internet and were able to log into our Netflix account and watch movies during the night. There were bright lights and dimming lights, the bed sheets were so soft and the mattresses were so comfortable. The comforters were warm and welcoming. We were near Cherokee and visited the Indian Museum, we went to Oconaluftee Village and our kids chased the chickens and the rooster chased one of them, we climbed 160 steps up to Mingo Falls, we drove to Asheville into Haywood Street, shopped at a nearby toy store, and visited the shops and ate delicious fried chicken. We had a blast. There were no obstacles, the owners of the property accomodated us in every way they could. We truly appreciated their courtesy as we just suffered a tragic lose in our very close family. We were in shambles and this getaway was a true rest for our sullen thoughts. Thank you for creating a wonderful getaway, folks. We wish you all the very best this year will have to offer us all.

Great time visiting the cabin with family. We enjoyed hanging by the fire, hiking, shopping at antique shops in Andrew’s, and soaking in the hot tub at the end of the night.
