Blue Horizons - Pacific Grove Beach House - On a Clear Day... You Can See Forever!
About this house rental
You won’t believe the view from this beach house: otters in the kelp beds, fishing trawlers, sailboats, and at night—the moon over Monterey Bay. You’ll be spending most of your time on the upstairs balcony or in the great room, which features a fireplace and a comfortable leather sofa and chairs. There’s a full bath with shower, a dining table for eight, a sunny kitchen with a professional gas range, and a breakfast nook that seats four. The master bedroom has a King bed, a large TV, and doors that open to the living room balcony. The en suite bath features a double vanity, soaking tub, walk-in shower and a large closet. Downstairs, there’s an office area off the entry, a laundry room, a bath with a shower, a den with two sofas and a TV, and two additional guest rooms. One has a Queen bed; the “blue room" has three twins (bunk beds and one separate twin) along with ocean-themed murals on the walls and ceilings. (NOTE: King and Queen mattresses are new and foam toppers have been added to the twins.) This home includes a two car garage, a central vac, solar backup batteries (in case of power outage), and a portable propane barbecue (when you’re not enjoying one of Pacific Grove’s amazing restaurants). The coastal path is right across the street; Lover’s Point Beach is a five minute walk; Cannery Row and the Aquarium are just 1.5 miles away. Pacific Grove Transient Use License #0404

Perfect set-up for 3 couples. It is within walking distance to Monterey and Asilomar Beach. Very comfortable house with awesome views of the ocean and its wildlife.

The view is stunning. We saw otters playing from the living room, and there was even a telescope to view up close! I walked along the coastal trail into the charming town of Pacific Grove. Our group thoroughly enjoyed this spectactular property.

We loved this property. The views from the living room were spectacular and we otter and porpoise watched constantly. We had stormy, high waves, rain, and then a beautiful sunny day…loved all of it.
We called maintenance to relight the fireplace pilot light, and he was very responsive and came within an hour or so.
We will be back.

We absolutely loved the location and the amazing front window. we watched sunrises, sunsets, sea otters, dolphins, grey whales, pelicans, sea lions, harbour seals from the main window. We walked to lovers point, walked to kissing rock, walking to the aquarium. It was all so convenient.
The stairs are quite steep so be aware, and the upstairs floor creaked so when i went to the bathroom in the night it disturbed others. But we would definitely stay again.

Perfect location with million dollar view! We liked the convenient layout. Breakfast area was a definite plus.

We were very comfortable and happy with our stay. I wish there had been more pantry staples available (I don’t think Covid is a valid reason for not having cooking oil) but otherwise the kitchen was well-equipped. We would definitely stay here again.

We enjoyed location across from the water. Excellent walking path right across the street
Large gathering area. We would book again

We really enjoyed our stay here. The view is amazing and the location is convenient to all the locations we wanted to visit. We would stay here again.

Love, love, love the location of this house! It is within 10 minutes of everything we wanted to do while in Monterey...the Aquarium, the wharf, 17-Mile Drive, etc. We were also able to walk to a couple of restaurants that were less than half a mile from the house.
The pictures are very accurate to what the house itself looks like. The kitchen had everything we needed to cook meals throughout our stay. The bed upstairs was very comfortable, but the larger bed downstairs was really hard. It did not have a pillow top mattress on it like the one upstairs.
The views were amazing! We were able to watch otters, sea lions, and an incredible amount of birds playing in the bay in front of the house. There is a great walking path directly across the street from the house that takes you along the beach.
This was a wonderful trip, and we highly recommend this house to anyone looking to relax while enjoying everything Monterey has to offer.

Main living space-kitchen, dining room, master bedroom suite and the living room with the fabulous view are upstairs. Stairs are hardwood and a bit steep and narrow for those physically challenged.
Location wise, Lover’s Point is about 1/4 mile, the Monterey Bay Aquarium 1/2 mile walk. During the summer, the City of Monterey offers a FREE trolley from the Aquarium to downtown Monterey-a great way to get around.
We ran into a big plumbing/leak problem which caused disruptions during our 5 day stay. The communication between the contractors -host-me was less than ideal with workers arriving ‘unannounced’. Hopefully, this will not be an issue for future guests.
Beautiful property - great kitchen for those who enjoy cooking!

Great view. NIce house. Very comfortable. Price was fair. Great restaurants in the area. Not too crowded, unlike Carmen.

We really enjoyed this house and it's location! It is very well maintained and has the most spectacular view. It has everything one needs to cook and make meals, comfortable clean bedrooms and even bikes in the garage you can use.
Michelle the property manager is incredibly responsive and super helpful. The storm of the century happened the day before we were supposed to arrive - the house didn't have power and she worked with us on an alternative plan.
The 24 hour maintenance line was answered on the first ring by an awesome gentleman who guided us through an internet issue!
You should visit this house - it's really worth it!

The stay at Blue Horizons was very nice and easy access. The views are fabulous. It is a very busy part of Pacific Grove and neighbors are very close, as well as lots of cars, cyclists and pedestrians due to beautiful location. I would have liked to know to bring your own coffee pods for the very convenient Nespresso or Keurig machines…
The family games are fun, the kitchen is very spacious for those who like cooking, the master bedroom very spacious and comfortable. Kids rooms downstairs make it also nice for the kids to have their own space. Nice path across the street perfect for morning runs or after dinner walks.

I could sit in the living room and enjoy the view of the bay, walk along it or enjoy so many close attractions.

Ad said 3 bedroom, 3 bathrooms which we assumed meant each bedroom had its own bathroom, this wasn’t the case. Yes there’s 3/3 but the downstairs bedrooms shared a bathroom.

The house was beautiful. We had everything we needed to cook our meals. The highlight of our stay was, from the comfort of the living room, watching a humpback swim by. He put on quite a show!

Great location, the views of otters, pelicans and gulls from the living room was amazing.

This home was one of the best Vrbo homes we have every stayed in. The house was perfectly located in Pacific grove! The hosts have thought of everything and had it very well stocked with dishes, towels, soaps and trash bags. It was easy to enter and lock up when away. It was a wonderful home for a family with plenty of space for everyone during our stay. We adored looking out and seeing Otters in the Bay and watching beautiful Cranes in the evenings. The beds were very comfortable. There were notes located throughout the house explaining how to lock doors, utilize appliances, etc. The host thought of everything. My husband and I plan on returning with just the two of us for our next visit when we can enjoy some fine dining without our three nephews. Thank you to the host for providing such a lovely home and family experience.

The view from the comfortable chairs in front of that huge bay window overlooking Monterey Bay is worth the price of admission! Awesome to be that close to the water, the shore trail, and eateries at Lover's Point and Pacific Grove. The bed and bedding in the primary suite are top notch. We didn't ride them, but having bikes available is a nice perk. We had a lovely stay but do have a few comments to make. The photo of the bay window shows a telescope, but there is not a telescope. Bring your binoculars for viewing the otters and seals! There are a few things in this older home that either don't work (ice maker, jetted tub) or need updating (worn carpet in primary bathroom) and there was a musty smell, although the house was spotlessly clean. However, these issues are minor and certainly don't affect the gorgeous setting. The kitchen was well-stocked for cooking. We enjoyed the Keurig, but there is a drip coffee maker, too. There are lots of little tips taped around the house to explain lights or door locks, which is helpful, but a little annoying, also. I'm sure it makes things easier on remote owners and the local management in reducing questions from guests. Michelle was responsive to communications and check in/check out was easy. Loved having a garage for our car! I think it's clear from the listing, but the main living area is up a flight of stairs.

We stayed for a girls weekend. There were seven of us and this house was absolute perfection. Obviously the view was the star of the weekend but location couldn’t be better. Walked everywhere, so much to do and see!

This house was great. Right in the ocean between Lover’s Point and Otter Rock and we saw otters every day looking out the living room windows. That was our favorite thing to do, just sit and look out the windows. The kitchen was great for cooking meals. We could walk to the aquarium and into town or along the coast. A great place to stay in Monterey / Pacific Grove.

The location and view of the property were excellent. We very much enjoyed looking out on the ocean, observing wildlife, and taking daily walks along the water.
The overall house is a bit dated, which in itself would not be an issue except the approach seems to be to wait until issues are reported, then to fix it reactively. We had multiple issues such as the stove top fan not working (we had to open windows every time we cooked, which was not fun when it's cold out and with young kids), the top rack of the dishwasher was broken, and the sight glass that we were so looking forward to using was broken before our arrival and was carefully balanced on top of the tripod to look attached.
I'm not entirely convinced that Michelle is a real person. I received multiple emails (which appear automated with standard information about the property) soon after booking from "Michelle" and automated texts. However, I sent a question (responding to her email) ahead of time without getting response and in trying to reach her when issues were discovered while at the property, I never heard back from her via text nor through VRBO messages. There are multiple numbers posted in the house in case of different issues, and I did manage to get through to a maintenance person, who informed me they would contact someone to reach back out. I finally got a call back to get the kitchen issues fixed on the day of my departure date. For the price of the stay, I would have preferred not to spend time discovering issues and calling for maintenance.
The downstairs room with bunk bed and painted walls was very quaint for the kids, however, if you inspect the door, the lock for it is outside of the room, so people can get locked in the room itself. This seemed a bit odd.
Overall, it was a very nice location and had a fantastic view but the house itself needs active maintenance. I would have also preferred to have direct contact with Michelle to manage issues rather than have to call maintenance people to schedule fixes.

This home and location did not disappoint. The description and photos are very accurate. Of course, better in person!
We enjoyed using the bikes, and walking across the street for many walks along the coast.
Read the description carefully especially if you are planning on cooking or call ahead to be sure it has you may need. The kitchen area was much bigger in person than the photos. Really nice!
The living area- stunning view.

This is a well maintained clean property in a wonderful location right on the coastal path. The view is gorgeous. We had a lovely stay.
The problem for us was that the staircase from the 1st to 2nd floor could not be made safe for a toddler. Our gate could not be attached. After a visit to the hardware store a solution was achieved and we were able to relax. Be aware that the agent does not respond to emails at the address on the website.

Six of us spent three nights at this home (our second time). There isn't a better view and the location is perfect for a walk along Monterey Bay. It's so close to so much to see and do. The house has everything you would need and is very nicely furnished - a very comfortable bed in the master bedroom. Some elements are a bit dated and could use some updating but other than that, I can only say that we'll be back!

Had a wonderful time 4 adults, 2 young kids, and a baby. This house is worth is for the view and location alone. The kids watched out the window all morning and evening. You can walk across the street for a beautiful walking path with tide pool access nearby. Definitely would stay again if available. The house was clean and the kitchen was wonderful and was surprisingly very well appointed with great appliances and skylights. The carpet downstairs needs replacing. The downstairs bathrooms needs updating. The guest bedroom downstairs is more well suited for children as it had no full-length mirror or good lighting for makeup. That said, I would not hesitate to book this house because it's bright and sunny, the view is better than the pictures and the location can't be improved. Those things are more important to me than being updated. It also came with bikes! Generally the feel of the place is clean and bright and we made wonderful memories.

This home was great - perfect cook’s kitchen, comfortable beds, great seating, and the view can’t be beat. We loved walking all over PG and to the aquarium from this location, and had so much fun watching otters from the front window. Everything was smooth and easy, can’t wait to come back!

Great Location for Pebble Beach Experience
Had a group of 4 guys for a buddy's 50th birthday. Location was great and the Pebble properties/courses were easily accessible. The view was fantastic - even better than the pictures. We didn't really utilize the kitchen and ameneties to properly evaluate how well-equipped everything was, but if you are looking for a great location, a relaxing feel and amazing view, and easy access to the Pebble experience - you can't go wrong with this property.

Whale of a Time
Blue Horizon is a great house. I was worried about no air conditioning but it was totally fine. No need at all. The house is super great for 3 small families. The views as noted are aaaamazing. The telescope is an amazing touch. We saw many a whales breaching! Location is great for exploring the area. 2 miles from the 17 mile drive and 1.5 miles from the aquarium. I wish I could have stayed longer. The house was very peaceful. Definitely a feeling of zen there. If I had to suggest one thing it would be black out curtains in the master. But that’s being super picky. Blue Horizon I hope I see you again.

Stunning Views
Whale watching every morning from the living room!
Across the street from the coastal walking trail.
We were able to spend a full day in each town - Monterey, Big Sir, Salinas, and Pacific Grove, with travel time less than an hour.
Great family vacation. We will definitely be back!
