About this house rental
Welcome to the Green House a uniquely handcrafted home with all the amenities needed to make your beach vacation memorable. This chalet style home is set back from the street, providing room for gardens and off street parking. The lovely light and airy living room, spacious windows and French doors open onto the expansive sundeck. Full sun, market umbrellas, lounge chairs, tables and a barbecue creates a relaxing and beautiful outdoor living space. Three unique bedrooms, spa bath and chef's kitchen are all provided for your enjoyment and pleasure in this unusual home. We are located near Twin Lakes' Beach and the Yacht Harbor, midway between Capitola and Downtown Santa Cruz (both 10 minutes away). There are six fabulous restaurants within walking distance, ranging from a Hawaiian grille to a high-end Italian restaurant, and a favorite, Southwest inspired Nuevo Grill. If you prefer a short walk down the beach to dine you will arrive at the yacht Harbor, the popular Palomar Mexican restaurant and the Crow's Nest. The Crow's Nest is a great place on Wednesday to watch the sailboat races or enjoy the sunset, a glass of wine and a bite to eat, great appetizers. Blacks Beach is at the end of 14th Avenue (our beach), and is a local's favorite. The beach is stunning and offers some of the best sunsets in Santa Cruz. It's great for boogie boarding and swimming. It is a lovely stroll from Black's Beach, past Twin Lakes Beach to the Yacht Harbor. Dogs are allowed on the beach on leash and bonfires are allowed at night. HISTORY: The Green House was hand built from 1950 to 1955 by a family working together to create their dream. The beautiful cedar for the walls and ceiling was brought from the forests of Washington state, wonderful Victorian doors and a fireplace mantle were recovered from old Santa Cruz mansions. The Green House features many gables, odd roof lines, wall angles, small nook spaces, creative staircases and the unusual scalloped molding that was hand cut with great care. With the home on the second level and an additional bedroom on the third level the Green House has beautiful light and the airy feeling of a tree house. • SLEEPS 1 - 8: Perfect for families or couples traveling together. • 3 BEDROOMS: Master bedroom with king size bed and crib, middle room has a queen size bed and two bunk beds, attic room has queen size bed. Reading lights, extra blankets and extra pillows are provided. All bedrooms are carpeted except for the attic room which has a hardwood floor. • 1 SPA BATHROOM and 2 HALF BATHS: The spa bath is a dream come true with a Jacuzzi tub, two shower heads and two sinks. Plus an additional half bath in the attic bedroom and a half bath off of the living room. • FULLY EQUIPPED KITCHEN: Two drawer dishwasher, five burner gas stove, oven , microwave, coffee maker, blender, toaster and a sno cone maker for the kids! All cookware, dinnerware, utensils and linens to set a beautiful table. • AMENITIES: Cable TV with DVD players in both the living room and master bedroom, high speed DSL, laundry facilities (washer, dryer, laundry soap, iron, ironing board), sundeck with gas and charcoal BBQ's, beach mats, sand toys, cooler, fireplace and wood, fully equipped kitchen, high quality linens and towels, CD's, board games, books and, very important here in Santa Cruz, ample off street parking for you and your guests. • PROVIDED FOR GUESTS: Fresh cut flowers, coffee from Santa Cruz Coffee Roasting Co., information on what is available to do and see in and around Santa Cruz and doggie treats should you desire to bring your pet. We stayed here with our two teens and a few of their friends and our dogs. Such a great place for us to hang in between fancy family lunch at the Crows nest and casual teen beach hang/ bonfire. Prefect location and great property. The hosts were very friendly and supportive. I would definitely recommend and would stay here again

The green house was a perfect house for my family! It was walking distance to two of our favourite beaches. Beach towels, sand toys, beach chairs, boogie boards, umbrellas and even a wagon to tote all of it to the beach were provided. There is a place to store your bikes and your own beach things behind a locked gate. There is a beautiful deck that is wonderful to have coffee on or an evening drink. The inside has great space if it’s too chilly outside. We love this house!

Probably the cleanest place I have ever stayed. The house was very fun and unique. We enjoyed being close to the beach. The house had pretty much everything we would need. I have stayed in many places that do not have simple items such as glasses to drink from. The kitchen was well stocked and we cooked most days we stayed. The deck was a really nice space to hang out. We loved that there was off street parking and a place to keep our mountain bikes secure. Thanks for sharing your wonderful home.

This is a wonderful, large, comfortable house…the photos do not show how big the rooms are…it is so amazing with the location, easy access, more than ample parking, huge kitchen, appliances that are great, stocked with all your cooking needs..colorful camellias surrounding the kitchen. The frontroom is huge, cozy seating, bathroom with washer&dryer, bedrooms with closets a movie star would love, the main bathroom is large, fabulous shower, spa tub, small sauna. The bedrooms have comfortable beds with nice bedding and extra comforters. The deck is beautiful and surrounds the front, wraps down to stairs that lead to high fenced dog yard.
We walked to the beach everyday, found wonderful restaurants within walking distance.
The Owner Kim is the nicest person, accommodating and her property reflects it. The Property Manager Nancy is such amazing with her Customer Service and warmth as well..
My whole family raved about The Green House and want to go back again. It’s the only place that has All Family Members with a Thumbs Up. There were 4 of us who stayed, but we had 8 for dinner and played board games…Barbeque is easy, professional size..

We had a great stay at the Green House. Great location. Easy access to both sides of town and also close to lots of stuff right there, including breaches and restaurants. Great big deck to soak up the sun on. Look forward to another stay sometime soon.

My wife and our for babies loved it. The house is unique, fun, and very relaxing. It has a beautiful large deck. The location is minutes away walking distance to the beach. The owner has thought of everything, Boogie boards, poop bags, toys for the kids to play in the sand, a crib, Band-Aids, everything you could possibly need for your stay. She and her friend Nancy are very responsive. And there is a young couple renting the other part of the house who are very nice and will help you with whatever you need.

This is our second stay at the Greenhouse as we loved our first stay so much. It's just the neatest house with lots of room, amenities and nooks and crannies. The owner - Kim - is delightful and incredibly accommodating. Kitchen is fully stocked with all utensils, pots, pans, ect. Use of boogie boards, beach chairs, beach towels and even doggie bags are included. The main bathroom has a dual rain shower and a jetted spa. There are two additional half baths. Walking distance to Blacks Beach and we went there daily. An excellent value that captures the charming quirkiness of Santa Cruz while still providing all of the comforts of an upscale rental. We will be back!

The location was perfect...short walk to a beautiful beach, wonderful market nearby, walking distance to Twin Lakes beach, close to restaurants and shops. It was just great! And, Kim the owner lives on the property!! Wonderful person...right there if we needed anything! She was amazing!!! Loved the beautiful dalias in the yard. It was the best and we plan to return next summer!!!

Things to know: only one full bath (clearly indicated on listing) but it was very large and nicely appointed and with two other half baths, worked great for our group. Also, the 3rd bedroom is up a narrow steep stair ( also clearly indicated in the listing) but as it has its own half bath, was a lovely private space. The other bedrooms included a very large and beautiful master and a very nice hall bedroom, with additional bunk beds that we did not use but would be great for families with younger kids. The outdoor space is a very large deck with lots of seating and both gas and charcoal grills. My family and I spent a week at The Green House and had a great time. The house is extremely clean and the kitchen has absolutely everything you need, but the real star is the host, Kim. She was highly responsive before, during, and after the trip. Her kindness and warmth really stood out to everyone in our family. It was truly a vacation to remember!

Wonderful warm home in a great location
We had a lovely stay at the Green House. The kids loved discovering all the nooks that is part of the overall charm of the home. It is spacious, functional, charming, and in a great location to enjoy 14th Beach.

Quissential Santa Cruz charm
Highly recommended. The pictures don't really capture the full charm of this property. Super comfortable beds, great large bathroom, more places to play hide and seek than you've ever seen in a house this size, fantastic deck, and only 1 block to Twin Lakes beach. Walking distance to food and coffee shops. Great, communicative owner who provides all the amenities and I can't wait to return!

We stayed at the green house for a family get together. The common rooms are very roomy and comfortable and it was well supplied and very clean. The place has a lot of character. it is in a great location, within a short walk of several restaurants, a coffee house, a brewpub and the farmer's market. Sleeping accommodations were comfortable. The owner is friendly and responsive.
This place is not for everyone as it has a lot of stairs and some are quite steep. It also only has one bathroom that has a shower/tub. This wasn't a problem for us but might be for others. Enjoy the green house!

Our experience at the Green House
This is a gorgeous house with beautiful knotty pine interior and a huge deck. The rooms are generous and comfy. Black's Beach is at the end of 14th Avenue - great waves and a life guard, But the real jewel of this rental is the owner, Kim Cupp. She made us feel at home throughout our stay. FYI there is a large gas BBQ that doesn't show in the photos.

Lovely home waking distance to the Beach
First of all, we were greeted with fresh cut flowers on the dining table as well as dog treats for our little four legged kids. The house was just as advertised. Clean and welcoming. Great instruction to all of the homes intricacies. Short 1 bock walk to the beach, in a quite neighborhood.
We will definitely be back again.
